Why can't we see npcs that we hired in cockpit?

There isn't a good answer, as it's inexcusable. A pixel representation of items, characters, environments one is interacting with in a video game really should be baseline minimum expectation stuff.

Better yet, they die in a ship they were never in, should it blow up.
They don't die the HoloMe cannot connect to your "new" ship as the ID has changed 😂

It's just a connection error 😁

I think the E.D. plot is something like this: after you first death you are stuck forever in a save pod lost in space and all next game is just a phantasmagoria.

We shouldn't just have 1 copilot. Most of the ships in this game from medium and up were clearly designed for multiple people to operate. A chieftain is like 5 stories high. Ridiculous for 1 person and probably just as ridiculous for 2 people.

I generally try not to bother. Not just about the game, I mean about anything in general. I get less headaches this way, which can only be a positive outcome ;)
The older I get the more I agree with this

Because it isn't broken.

It is only "relevant" to people that don't know that it is working as intended.
I was trying to see my recent hiring in the 3rd seat of the Cutter, but there were just empty seats. How hard is it to show a hologram?

I tried to cheat by running a second copy of ED with a character model of my slf pilot as close as I could craft it in the auxillary seat. After a few runs, I abandoned it because it seemed a bit weird to work so hard to get my Bladerunner II Joi (props to Duck) to hang out with me. I am embarrassed to say this, but I also set up about 50 random dialogue responses to fighter order requests that she would offer in voice attack using a high quality TTS software to grab audio clips (I silenced the 8 things she said in game).

This game really does need NPC personalization to actually make you feel a part of the beautiful universe that is created by FDEV.
