Modes Why trade in open ?

Status quo defenders

Status quo attackers.

See how that works?

How about providing something original other than the same old rehashed arguments, and perhaps we'd have something to debate?

Else, you can just keep providing the same one-liner quips, hoping to gain traction.

Well it did get you to answer

PP is an uninteresting mess, that's all there is to it.

A mess? Certainly. IMO, Frontier saw how much fun some people were having playing the BGS, and decided to use that as a basis for their "Game of Thrones" expansion. I simply don't understand why they felt the need to limit merit earning to a handful of extremely limited (and IMO boring) activities, as opposed to expanding the mission system to take into account Powerplay. I give Frontier a 10 for concept, a 3 for execution.

Uninteresting? Not in my opinion, and there's a sizable minority that agree with me, otherwise they wouldn't play it. I enjoy reading the week's strategic analysis for my chosen Power, especially the BGS section of it, and IMO it helps give my character direction when it comes to being an "Agent of the Empire!" If Frontier ever chooses to tie it into the mission generation system, I'll repledge in a minute.

It may not be your cup of tea, but to each their own.

Maybe I'd like trading in open better if I had more interesting options like:

* putting a bounty from my own cash on a player's head that threatened me with destruction and robbery and actually damaged my ship.

* being able to make higher profits in dangerous (anarchy) systems and being abel to have player escorts who can get a negotiable share of my profits

* getting rewards by "tagging" wanted players (by kill warrant scanning them). If I manage to KWS a wanted player his position gets announced on a bountyhunter board (or galmap) and there will be a littel price for the player that did the KW-scan. Maybe also a distress-beacon could spawn for others to see and drop in to help.

* being abel to actually trade goods/materials/minerals/data with other players

And that is the problem with certain players who find they don't like an aspect of the game and feel that because they don't like it nobody should. Could you imagine the uproar if I said that because I don't like pvp no on should be able to do it?

Oh right

You're the "what's best for the game" torch carrier

Sugoi, naisu

Damn skippy I am. I want PVPers and PVErs to enjoy the game and for the vocal minority that want to make ED unbalanced modewise to favor one over the other, to try and turn ED into an Eve clone or any other massive game change to make the game what they want and screw everyone else to knock it off.

PP is a miserable failure and no need to delude yourself.

I read the above comments and I can see people have no real idea what PP is and constantly mixing in with BGS.
PP has nothing to do with the BGS, its an entirely separate layer.

Besides, doing it in SOLO not for modules will not archieve anything because the whole idea of it is collaborative number play, if you doing PP alone you are probably doing more damage to the power.

The problem with it being availble in solo/PG is that entire player groups (cough Grom cough) grind without risks while avoiding proper opposition. A cowardly act that is approved by fdev since they have no clue how to make a MP game.

The modes are already unbalanced today since release.

PP isn't a miserable failure, it is actually kind of fun. I've been doing it from the start and you know what... I do not have one module from a power. I didn't join PP for that at all.

FDev are not cowardly.. I mean if you are wanting opinions then those that shoot unarmed ships or those that are no threat to them.

As for the mods being unbalanced.. they are not. Trying to play the game in a way it wasn't designed and claiming it is unbalanced because you can't "blockade" and crap isn't an unbalance.. the mods are the way they are supposed to be.

Its not about blockade, its about risks and danger. Npcs dont posses the same skills as PvP players making the opposition in SOLO much easier than in open. How is that balanced? You have the easy mode and the hard mode, both give you the same reward, it doesnt make sense in any context, not just ED.

It is YOUR opinion that solo is easier and NPCs are a joke, but again and you seem to not comprehend this.... YOU are not everyone. Not everyone is the "God" of ED and gold sparkles fly from your thrusters as NPCS quake at your approach...

Regular players who play in solo find NPCs a challenge..

There is no "Easy" mode or "hard" mode... there is solo with no player interaction or Open with player interaction. Your choice of where to play, not your choice to choose where to play then whine that the other people who chose differently are "easy"...

Come on…
Here, on this side, we have a box with NPCs.
And here, on this other side, we have a box with the same NPCs, plus some bad guys.

Which box is harder to stick your finger into?

neither, because all you have to do is click the button and you are in the mode of your choice and having the experience you chose to have. If you feel like dealing with others click here.. if you don't click there... it isn't that difficult.

You're like that asteroid that whiffed past Earth in the last few days… answer my question, will ya?

I did answer it. Just because you don't agree with the answer doesn't mean it wasn't answered. And the answer is neither... neither is harder to stick your finger aka click on. What dictates where you click is where you desire to be and what to deal with.

Hmmm someone skipped those Logic classes

Really?

So SOLO has the same difficulty level as OPEN, please stop this, just stop. Just because everyone can click the easy mode DOES NOT MAKE THE MODES EQUAL IN DIFFICULTY.

It's a pretty big box and it's quite easy to find a spot without bad guys. It's impossible to detetmine the galactic wide danger of the galaxy, or even the bubble within it.

Plus, it's easy enough to circumvent these bad guys keeping a few rules in mind, so the bad guys themselves pose little danger as well. That's not me talking, but repeated posts by those who PvP.

Which amounts to: to the inexperienced player, who is strapped for cash, who finds himself in the wrong part of the bubble, these bad guys pose a risk.
