Will PS4 get the Cobra Mk IV?

Horizons was live on PC for six months before the XBox got it.
At that point, they were given the Cobra MkIV.

When PS4 went live with Horizons, we got a sidewinder paint job.

PC got a ship as part of pre-order
Xbox got a ship as part of pre-order
PS4 didn’t get a ship for pre-order, they got a skin for a ship that they would on from within a day or so.

Give PS4 owners a Python Mk2 and watch PC and Xbox owners explode into salt.
After reading that thread part of me would love to see their reaction.
What was it they were saying? "you don't miss what you don't have"🤔.

This is something that has always irked me a little. It doesn't matter if the ship is rubbish or amazing solely in the interest of fairness if you had the ps4 version day one with horizons you should have had access to the cobra mk4!. In my opinion isn't it enough that we had to wait an extra year to get the game and at that point it turned out you got a better deal to buy it on disc rather than download (I thought this was odd too).

This is what always irks me - rubbish and amazing are subjective. A lot of players expect ships the size of Navy destroyers to fly like an F-16 jet fighter. Me, I actually prefer a bit of drift and inertia to my larger ships (and the CIV is pretty big for a small class ship), though as an ex-sailor, I do get agitated with the rubbish yaw rate of many ships; Type-7 FTW!

I personally think I would like the CIV for my kind of play style, with the exception of the yaw of course. On the other hand, there are plenty of other amazing ships in the game, so I'm not dying on this particular hill, especially when there's still "Shadow Hill" that needs to be taken!

Yep. Even a Sidewinder is the size of a small house. It’s 2 decks high and can fit a vehicle inside.

So the other Cobra MK4 thread has thrown up some interesting info for us.

First was FDev support saying we should kep an eye on social media channels for announcements: https://support.frontier.co.uk/kb/faq.php?id=169
Like maybe they were actually thinking about it.

Then this thread where FDev seemed to announce the Cobra MK4 offer to Xbox commanders:
https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php/259478-Cobra-Mk-IV

Particularly this post by Zac Antonaci, where he says it's to give parity between Xbox and PC commanders on the offer.
https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php/259478-Cobra-Mk-IV?p=4013955&viewfull=1#post4013955

Then this one:

Where's PS4 Commanders having the same opportunity as PC and Xbox players had? :S

Just asking for parity between all platforms. ie: limited ("exclusive") availability for PS4 owners, that meet some restrictive criteria, as a one-time offer.
eg: only those that originally pre-ordered, or launch players, or say first year owners.

Still would love an answer to all your hard work Stinja!

I've submitted a community goal, about *cough* stuff :D for *cough* stuff.

re: this thread, as FDev were asking for ideas for engaging events, and supporting the player community:

Feel free to submit you own ideas for... stuff.

Yeh, unfortunately not managed to get any further update on this from anyone at Frontier. Can safely say its being ignored, head in sand time.

(Skip to 1:32, for the relevant scene :) .)

They can't ignore us forever, we SHALL be heard! :D .
(And hopefully one day rewarded :) .)

a 'Simple' solution that Frontier may want to take is to make the Cobra MkIV available as a pre-order bonus for the next chapter / release.
i.e. the big one that they don't talk about.

it'll achieve a couple of things.

1) Stop this embarrassing thread from continuing. I don't mean embarrassing thread as in the posts are embarrassing but that the opening page contains promises from Frontier that they would look into giving PS4 commanders a Cobra mkIV and then radio silence from that point onwards

2) It'll be a relatively easy code drop as the assets are already built and flown by an incredibly small number of pilots

3) It'll allow simplification of code that currently screens against the (in my opinion) majority of pilots who cannot access the ship

4) It'll give an excellent small mining ship to the many new commanders that will join at the next release.

at the expense of:

1) the (in my opinion) increasingly small number of pilots claiming that exclusive ingame forever means that other pilots cannot also fly them, despite the fact that they (PC and Xbox) will never interact with us (or the many other pilots). Their justification will be that they spent a lot of money many years ago on a game that they have had many years of play out of and other people haven't.
