Yes, I believe it's these folks who are pretty good at strategic marketing. I theorize they told FDev essentially, "Stay quiet, we're spooling up a monster VR marketing campaign, we've got this."

I would bet my least-expensive pair of pants that we'll see something like this in the weeks to come for ED. I've see a lot of Farpoint commercials this week around prime time, and it launches next Tuesday. I think it's fair to at least suggest we'll see more PSVR stuff as we encroach on E3.

I don't like it... But I see your logic. I suppose marketing and public relations are two different things. [sour]

every body is using psvr as an excuse for FDev to delay the release, but there is very little about ED vr yet. plus it hasn't been confirmed as a definite thing yet

Hogwash! <insert pig emoji> Otherwise Sony wouldn't have a "Coming Soon" page. Do you think Frontier is the only publicly-traded game company out there? Unless you brits are under some arcane trading laws, this answer makes zero cents. (I did that on purpose)

Okay, so riddle me this. FDEV became a publicly-owned company in 2013. Two Thousand And Thirteen. My post further up this page expresses what feels like a recent change in openness and engagement by Frontier toward its community. So did the laws in the UK suddenly change (Brexit?), or might I be justified in being cynical of Mr. Cynical's currently unsubstantiated theory?

ps - I know I'm drifting off topic. Apologies. The tie-in is to the original post by Gary Richards promising "further announcements" about even small details like free ships.

Sorry old duck but its not hogwash, its the truth.

A quick search of info re uk stock market rules will show that any announcements that will likely affect the share price of a company (release date of new product, clearly being one example), must be made to the stock market, otherwise insider dealing would be alot more rampant.

You might not believe it, but it is what it is. Your country probably has very similar rules on the dow.

This is why Ed cant just blurt out the date on an evening livestream q&a, if the suits haven't jumped through the regulatory hoops at the same time (or before).

Its a fair point actually and raises an interesting question, we need to check FDevs investor relations site and check their releases. :)

Here (it will probably end up here first):

never understood stocks and shares, but neither do a lot of people which begs the obvious question: why build peoples hopes of a April-June release, when you have no intention of delivering said release date? I don't think shareholders, players or DB would be happy with that

edit: plus on another thread dustyarnie has said that there is not long left of Q2

edit2:
(and any lurking girls...)

Well that's official then, you're our 'Elite Dangerous PS4 First Lady' then! Hopefully more of a Michelle than Melania ;-)

I just had look at the psn store but no mention of the cobra mk4 as a pre order bonus in there but I did see a mention about a gold sidewinder skin maybe we get that instead?

we definitely do get the gold sidewinder skin for pre order, think its better than an overweight, under powered cobra mk4 lol

People who preorder Elite Dangerous for PS4 will get the Golden.... really shiny golden... Sidewinder.

But not the Cobra MkIV? :(

PS: Does this apply to physical pre-orders or just digital (on the shiny sidewinder) Brett?

You knew this question was coming. :p

I don't think so.
It was a limited time reward and so accordingly should be an exclusive.
You buy the prelaunch version of any release, you get the goody.
(you snooze you lose)

All this love for a ship that gets slagged on the forum lol
