Will PS4 get the Cobra Mk IV?

Diamondback Explorer and Asp Explorer (cobra was a mistype) are both widely available. Diamondback has the better range, Asp has the better internals.
Currently the Asp is way out of my price range. Doesn't help i just got many self blown up in my CMkIII. The darn bounty kept ramming me! So that's nearly 300k down the pan. :(

Costwise yes, but you can spend one night in a RES in your Cobra and easily afford a DBX (and you can interchange a lot of modules between the DBX and the Cobra). The DBX will nearly double your jump range.
RES? Had to look that up. :D

Despite the loss I mentioned above, I can already afford a DBX, but I've been unsure whether I want to get one. I guess I'll buy one & try it out. I need 10 ships anyway for a trophy. O:)

lol. Sorry, it's been mentioned so many times here as the best way for starter money I thought everyone knew what a red was. Hope you like the DBX. Love mine. I will get an AspX one day but for now I am learning lots in the DBX before I go out far into the black on my own.

I strongly recommend the DBX. I bought one last weekend and immediately set off on my first trip into unknown territory. It didn't take long before I was the first to discover a whole load of planets, and when I came back there was a nice monetary reward waiting for me upon selling my data. To be honest it's the most fun I've had yet in the game. The DBX is an amazing exploration vessel.

I was hoping it would especially for those of us who preordered The game with Horizons. Who knows maybe they will make it available in a future update. Would also like to see the return of the Cobra MK 1 and maybe the Krait besides the Panthar Clipper sometime in the future.

I loved the panther clipper, I had a nice gold and red one, looked amazing and in combat all I had to do was set the auto pilot to destination enemy, which was about all I could do combat wise on that game, try to use them as a landing pad and dock in them :) It was a tank

I got the impression they had forgotten all about the Cobra Mk IV. Either that or it's being saved as a bonus for pre-ordering Season 3 on PS4...

The last I heard was 'it is something that we will look at' but has probably slipped down the pecking order in favour of fixing / tweaking things.

You are probably right in having it as part of a Season 3 pre-order as it would give FDev a hook against which to introduce it. Opening it up to everyone, without control would be disrespectful to those that got one through pre-ordering Horizons.

I did buy one in the end. Along with another 3 ships so I got the 10 ships trophy. ;)

But I then spent over an hour trying to figure out what I had on the Cobra Mk III that I could transfer over. I might have missed something, but surely there should be an option to compare & transfer modules between ships! I never even got to fly it last night. Given that ED is in real time, I decided to go to bed & venture out today.

It's range is actually 3ly less than my old Mk III was. I couldn't afford the the best FSD, because it would have left me 100k short on my insurance. Since my 'loaded' DBX is worth 6m without that drive, I decide not to risk it. (I could have sold the Mk III, it's still worth 2m, but I couldn't bring myself to do it.) :D

In any case, following the advice here to get the DBX, worrying about the Cobra Mk IV seems to have become irrelevant. So if Frontier are saving it for DLC, it will surely only be any use to new players, but, swayed by others here, I have to conclude that the Cobra Mk III is actually a better buy.

Personally I don't care about the Cobra MkIV; I didn't even get the MkIII, as I went from the Sidewinder straight into both Vipers followed by the Vulture. I have a Type 6 for cargo runs and will buy an Asp Explorer tonight to replace my DBX (nothing wrong with the DBX but I got a massive payout from the last CG).

From what I've read it isn't that good a ship anyway.

So any word on the Cobra MK4?

I've been engineering my MK3 pretty heavily, and as the modules transfer directly over, i'm well ready for a MK4 planetary explorer or mission runner :S

Still nothing, sadly.
