Winter 2023 DLC Speculation

The financial year starts/ends in May. So FY2023 ended in May. We're currently in FY2024. So them saying more are coming "this financial year" is only up until May 2024.

(And, not to nitpick, but I think it's important - they said "this year" and not "next year" in the report. Unfortunately!)
Yes, but also Last year WE got Just an Outlook into FY2023 and not into FY2024 if I remember right. So I See No hints into any direction by this sentence in a Report about FY2023 with Outlook into FY2024.

It literally is. Unless you don't know what 'opinion' means.

Why are you making this about me? I listed several options - the Asiatic lion was just one of them, and given it's a genetically significant subpopulation and probably the only lion subpopulation with genetically pure lineages in captivity, it's an attractive one for a game with a focus on that theme.

As for your other comment about the wolves, the situation is actually comparable (though not identical). The "timber wolf" is neither the whole species or a subspecies; it's listed as Canis lupus but its given range is basically just the northern hemisphere boreal/taiga zone, even though C. lupus extends into just about everywhere. Then they added the Arctic wolf, a distinct subspecies but still part of the C. lupus taxonomic umbrella. In essence, the same wolf is in the game twice, because C. lupus already covered the Arctic wolf. It gets a pass because it looks sigificantly different, but it's still a messy inclusion.

It is making me chuckle at the attempted justification as to why it would ever be included. But, and this is the end of this for me, being a 'genetically distinct subpopulation' (not distinct enough to even make subspecies status tho) is not the criteria the development team use for picking new animals, as proven by the fact that of several years of DLC, we haven't once received the same subspecies species twice..

Basically it's the exact same language as last year. Even the side-by-side comparisons with JWE2. And since we're getting DLCs for all of 2023 this year, it's certainly possible that we might get the same for next calendar year as well.

And in past reports they've explicitly stated that more would be coming in the next financial year (which in this case would be FY25 because their financial year starts/ends in May; stating this for others who might not know :) )..

So yeah, it's feeling like we have at least one more DLC coming in December for sure with one more possible in the spring and from there... Who knows. Definitely not doom-speak; just conclusions based on facts like you've said!
Yea exactly, but we should wait and see. I definitely dont expect more support, but Im happy to be wrong.

It says 1.15 update notes will not be released until day of release.

Ah gotcha, I read that as just the usual long list of smaller fixes that are included in the update notes, so I was still expecting a major announcement sometime sooner. But we'll see! As it hasn't happened today you're probably quite right and it will all come next week. They probably shuffled all the timing around this month due to the financial report release, no doubt they are all tied up in massive company meetings this week.

With regional packs back on the menu maybe, maybe, maybe there will one day be a "Central Asia" pack with wild boar, saiga, pallas cat, and dalmation pelican? (Probably not, but I can hope, right?)

It would pair nicely with the India pack proposed by PnGLINNyo and a highlands pack (takin, marhkor, pheasant, hyrax, baboon/gelada, spectacled bear, bar-headed goose).

The wolverine I think should be kept for headlining a Tundra Pack - wolverine, walrus, muskox, tundra swan.

That leaves the always neglected South America, though I could see a Treetops Pack (spider monkey, colobus monkey, tree kangaroo, ocelot), a Children's Zoo Pack (dwarf goat, squirrel monkey, muscovy duck, coati), and a dedicated South American Pack (howler, tamandua, rhea mara, peccary, turkey, scarlet ibis) all being applied to this area.

Add ABB and greycrowned crane as anniversary animals and things would be looking pretty darn great... but there are always more animals I wouldn't say no to, and I hope support continues as long as possible.

I may be recalling wrong, but I'm almost positive that the presentation last year referenced FY23. The report didn't, but the presentation did.

Same! The only thing that's giving me the slightest bit of "pause" on this is that the presentation and report on the whole felt more like a "here's what went wrong and here's what we can do to fix it" vibe. Prior presentations have always had slides highlighting individual games and that didn't happen here; Warhammer got the shine and nothing else.

Which feels a little... Odd. And I'm not sure if leaving them out is a sign that PZ and JWE2 are going to end development or if it just didn't feel appropriate given the context (because saying "but wait we have a new game!" is going to look much better on paper than saying we're going to continue with PDLC for existing games). I'm leaning toward the former but hoping for the latter, I guess. LOL

I wouldn’t really enjoy a flamingo for the anniversary, it feels kinda boring compared to the other 2 animals we got for anniversaries.

I hope the anniversary is either a Bat Eared Fox or Masai Giraffe.
I'm going to put some options and a wish for the next anniversary

Grévy's Zebra (EN)
Giant Eland (VU)
Saiga Antelope (CR)
[is an animal I would like to see in the game]. It's more of a wish than a real option

HIGHLANDS ANIMAL PACK
  • Spectacled Bear (VU)
  • Ethiopian Wolf (EN)
  • Markhor (NT)
  • Wolverine (VU) [in Europe]
  • Musk Ox (LC)
  • Gelada (LC)
  • Wild Yak (VU) // Andean Mountain Cat (EN)
  • Chinese Giant Salamander (CR) [Exhibit]
Would be a cool pack in my opinion. Nevertheless I would make some Changes. I would replace the Ethiopian Wolf perhaps with the Rock Hyrax and would take Out the Wild Yak/Andean Cat and give the Spot to the more Common known Pallas Cat.
And third I would exchange the Musk Ox with the Golden Takin. I really would Like to See a Musk Ox but is it really a Highland animal. According to German Wikipedia they are living Most of the time in valley areas.

And so they did now with FY2024. In your Initial post you have written Something about FY2025. And I find it logical that FY2025 is Not mentioned within a Report about FY2023.
We are in FY2024 now, though. That ends in May. With no mention of FY2025 which would start in June.

And they have mentioned the future fiscal year (which in this case would be FY2025) in previous reports and/or presentations when there is more planned beyond the present fiscal year.

But in the last years Report which was about FY2022 they also mentioned only the FY2023 and not the FY2024. Sure we are now in FY2024 but the Report is about FY2023. Perhaps we are writing somehow past wach other.
