Winter 2023 DLC Speculation

Could this be a possible candidate for this pack? Blue Monkey? Also we need birds.

Given the "savings" Frontier has made on primates, I don't think it's likely. I'd certainly like to have some pheasants, but since we've already gotten 2 birds this year, I don't think it's likely we'll get another bird.

Why is there so much hate around around the golden monkey? Every time its brought up someone is disgusted at the fact it appears 😂
As a Chinese, I think the main reason is that most people in this forum may have never seen them. Since the Chinese government has very strict control over golden monkeys, they, like pandas, will only be loaned to zoos in other countries. Rather than selling, giving away or exchanging. As far as I know, apart from zoos in China, they seem to be only available in Japan and South Korea, making them even rarer than giant pandas. I recently understood a rule, that is, if a species wants to be popular, it must first be common. If people cannot see them easily, then obviously the misunderstanding of the species will deepen. I think if ABB is not so common, It won't be that popular on the forum. Based on the above facts and speculations, for an English forum, I think the controversy over the golden monkey is understandable. No matter how exquisite the image is, it cannot be compared with seeing it with your own eyes.

Boy did I miss a bit of the conversation.
What are the thoughts on the winter pack now the peccary is out,? Do y'all still think Highlands or is something with the wild boar more likely?!
There’s a very low chance we get 3 swines in one year, I’ll take it for sure, but it’s really unlikely. The peccary is interesting through and I’m not exactly sure which way they’re headed. We have had 5 tropical themed “content updates” in a row.

So my new question for everyone, was the Peccary a teaser of what’s to come in the winter (Latin America Animal Pack) or are they gonna finally switch to cold animals and do Highlands?

Just wondering how is the situation with other non native monkeys? Like the stuff thats common around the world like sakis and colobus

Makes sense to me. I know that some North American animals are common here but not elsewhere, thus people not wanting them.

It's all a matter of perspective. I'm not against animals rare in captivity, but if an animal is not found in captivity at all, then I dislike the inclusion

Speaking of which, how are people feeling about a temperate pack now that the devil and kiwi are out? No just for the next pack but more in general.
I remember those were a big part of most speculations about such a pack.
I could still see it as the main celebrity wasn’t added in the last pack (American black bear). Line it up with Wild Boar, Wapiti and Tanuki and it’d be a decent pack. But again getting 3 swines this year is probably not gonna happen so I’d save it for 2024.

As with the last two anniversary animals, I don't think it says anything at all. The best argument for a highland pack is the number of highly-requested animals that live in mountainous areas, not some balance of hot and cold climates.

I actually think that getting the peccary makes getting the boar in the next pack more unlikly if anything.

I wouldn't mind a temperate pack or a woodland pack, which would focus more on nordic, boreal and temparate forest animals. It would be an ideal pack an bring us a lot more european/asian and American animals, like; the wild boar, the wisent, NA porcupine, American black bear, and perhaps more, though it could be a good scenery pack as well.

As for what is to come in december 2023, it's always hard to guess, cause they could blow us away with everything. I do hope for a tundra or mountain animal pack, and so far a lot of people really desire a mountain pack and the animals are all quite desired by everyone. Almost everyone would agree that it should have a takin, markhor, wolverine(Though it could be in a woodland pack) gelada and more.

Just letting everyone know PZ award show is in the final 3 😁

Voting is open for deciding what is the best animal in the game.https://forums.frontier.co.uk/threads/the-planet-zoo-award-show.618769/page-38#post-10255638

Some statistics:
Asian primates in planet zoo: 5
African Primates: 7
New world primates: 1

Which of these primate groups is the most important for their respective continent? New world

What animals are extremly common in zoos and still not in the game? A bunch of monkeys and baboons

What makes asia snd africas primate selections feel lacking? The lack of a basic monkey

How many primates can we expect in a pack? 0-1

How can anybody justify the voldemort monkey when it could be a baboon, a howler (red howlers live in cloud forests), a colobus monkey (kilimanjaro), a tamarin (cottontop for example only survived in mountain rainforest), grad langurs (live in himalayan miuntain forests) or literally anything else?
Id rather take a 3. Or 4. Goat then another super niche asian primate that has the niche of the japanese macaques, a captive population mostly used for political black mailing just on a smaller scale then pandas and comes at the cost of anything named above

Sure is not the priority. And yes i rather get NW and African basic monkeys but i would be lying if i say i will be upset if the Golden monkey gets into a DLC. Is it needed? No. Am i asking for them before any NW monkey? No Do i like it? Yes. Is one of my favorite primates.

Oh right, i forgot the most important factor why forum fears golden monkey. It is simply more popular and marketable for generic audience than almost every other ,,basic,, primate is.
So in the end it has great potential to appear in any pack over forum preffered primates. And we know Frontier would rather appeal to masses/new audience than few people who are going to be upset with one monkey, but still buy DLC regardless lol.
It happened with sloth, sand cat and now with the quokka. Golden monkey can be the next one, especially when people demand cold climate pack.

If we’re talking about getting it in a highlands pack, then it’s photogenic appeal would likely be replaced with the Pallas Cat, just saying
