Winter 2023 DLC Speculation

I mostly agree with your numbers 50% african is a bit steep
It should realistically be more. I was being generous.
due to north america zoos having alot of local animals
That doesn't matter. The whole idea unravels as soon as you start worrying about "local" collections.

The game needs 50% New Zealand animals because New Zealand zoos have a lot of local animals. See? Doesn't work. On a global scale North American species are not really hugely widespread. Key species, yes; in terms of habitat animals, you're looking at American bison, alligators, flamingos (kind of a stretch even then; most zoos outside of NA seem to keep greater flamingos or the Andean and Chilean flamingos), and smaller critters like prairie dogs, with the rest being species that crossover with Eurasia (wolverines, reindeer, muskox, polar bears, etc).

On that same note I can't make a Scottish zoo until we get red squirrels, scottish wildcats,
Don’t worry my furry friends gotcha covered

Wildcat 2.0 new and improved addition

Well I'm gonna open up a topic and hopefully someone responds lol

The Himalayan Tahr is the most underrated pick for a Highlands Animal Pack, and just like the takin, after I've looked into it a bit more I'm really interested in them.
I mean it looks like a bighorn sheep with the mane of a Gelada. If we never get a gelada baboon I hope for a part of its legacy, and this one definitely delivers on that front.

Its honestly really hard to choose one goat, I know the Markhor is iconic, but Chamois and Tahr also solid picks imo. I would even go as far to say I wouldn't be mad if we got Tahr instead of Markhor. They're all amazing (to clarify, these 3 are amazing, the rest dont count lol)

Anyways moving on what do you think about the "seasonal link" factor of dlcs? Do you think this next dlc will have a seasonal link? or they will do something rather unrelated like they did with grasslands last year? Obviously winter = cold is the most obvious logic here but... what if it was something else? Is there something else they could use as theme related to the season?
It's hard to say. They've been relatively consistent with it over the years. I think the lone exceptions are the Aquatic, Grasslands, and Oceania packs. So yeah, it's still possible but... We know they're willing to deviate but I think they try to stick to it.

The deviations feel more like a "will to a way" rather than an outright pattern change. If that makes sense. Aquatic felt like it was a timing thing (e.g., major mechanic change and more of those "generic" pieces people are clamoring for just in time for the holidays). Oceania felt like it was just "time" for certain animals (devil and kiwi) and following the pack type pattern they were kinda forced into it. Grasslands is a bit tough to justify but... It felt like a glut of animals that could have been put into other themes that would come out later that year put into another pack (e.g., maned wolf could have been tropical; armadillo and hyena could have been arid). Like a less obvious "grab bag."

So yeah. It's a coin-toss for me. The one thing I'll say is that if it's not something like highlands, temperate, alpine, or whatever... We'd be on DLC #5 of strictly "warmer" feeling animals which would be kinda weird.

Basically a sea yak.
I had this thought a few days ago but my post about it was way meaner than yours so I wound up canning it before hitting the reply button.

Just saying, every other winter pack we get a goat.
Is this a solid pattern if it only happened 2 times? No.
Is this firm evidence of a highlands pack? No.

Do I care though? Yes absolutely I will take any small piece of chance I can get.
Fair. But I'll take that and raise you a "we always get a very cute small mammal in every winter pack except the first one" so... Tree kangaroo is coming in the highlands pack, my guy!

Also the raccoon. Idk about other places but in europe those guys are incredibly common and the most common NA species in zoo by far

Do you have a link to this video?
I'm sorry, I didn't.This is what others saw while playing on site.At that time, his PZ version should have a relatively complete mechanism, where he saw many animals from the DLC over the past four years. For example, African rhinoceroses, penguins, beavers, koalas, maned wolves, butterflies, armadillos, moose. He even said at the time that the armadillo was put in an exhibition box.But now PZ has changed his mind.
He also mentioned many species, and they haven't appeared yet

I have been following Pz for a long time, and I remember an official article about the Malay tapir, Kiwi, and Tasmanian badger was published a long time ago.
It is mentioned above that these three animals are relatively rare in European zoos, but they also hope to add information such as them to the game in the future. I am not sure if there is any impression here, or if anyone can find this article

After reading everyone’s comments, I think we have reached several consensuses regarding the proportion of species from each continent in the game and where there is a lack of representation.
1. Africa is currently the continent with the largest number of species in the game. No one has any objection, and they even think that there can be a few more species.
2. The lack of ungulates in Asia is obvious and needs to be supplemented, mainly in deer and mountain ungulates.
3. South America is currently the continent with the most “debts”, lacking in both quantity and representation.
4. Other continents only need 2-3 new animals, and most people think they have a good lineup.

Regarding South America, I have a new point of view, that is, from the perspective of large animals, the representative animals seem to be almost complete. We only need spectacled bears, Pudu deer or South American swamp deer, and 2-3 small and medium-sized carnivores. That’s it, like Bush Dog, Ocelot, coati. The key problem in South America is the serious lack of primates and birds that are key to its species diversity, and this is a problem that has not yet been well solved in the PZ. That is to say, although other areas also lack birds and primates, they can use other animals to make the total number of animals correspond to species diversity, but primates and birds are indeed deadly to South America.

About Tahr,I think the key thing is whether the frontier are willing to make gorgeous winter fur for male Tahr sheep. To look realistic, this is a big cost.

So its just one guy you know claiming this without any proof? Im sorry, but that guy is just making stuff up.
You can look up gameplay footage of the 2019 gamescom, there are just known animals
