Winter 2023 DLC Speculation

Then fully marine animals and flying (exhibit) birds would probably take all the top soots. Even if the rules were not to include them.
Those were my thoughts too, if we were to remake the wishlists I wouldn’t be surprised if the top animals were to get completely swapped around. The current top meta list feels like a collection of animals selected from a different time for Planet Zoo. I’m betting if we remade the wishlist it would be a lot more small mammals, monkeys, and non-mammals.

I don't know...
I think from an objective standpoint the game needs more non mammals (I'm hoping for b i r d s !) and monkeys...
However, there are still so many mammals that would enrich gameplay and/or choice in building zoos!
For example, everyone in the community is fine with the idea of more new world monkeys! So why not another giraffe? I get that taxonomically, giraffes represent a single species as opposed to an almost order of mammals but I'm personally more interested in giraffes than monkeys. IDK why, I think monkeys are like uncanny valley animals in a way... I think at the end of the day support, the roster should be representative of diversity irl zoos. That includes more non mammals yes, but also more choices of animals we already have in-game. Even if its just color morphs... I mean I guess color morphs to represent different closely related (sub)species would be fine.
I'd even like way more pattern variations. Give animals already in game more variety please!

How would you guys organize the pack themes? Not just for the next pack but in general.

Likely:
-Highlands/Mountain
-"SA revisit"
-Temperate
-Petting Zoo

Possible:
-Tundra/Polar
-Safari/Savannah
-India
-Desert

Unlikely:
-Urban sad me noise
-Islands
-Coastal
-Greater asia
-Rainforest
How I see it:
Likely:
-Mountains/Highlands
-Woodland +Taiga, or Temperature
-Petting Zoo
-Arboreal
-South America revisit (maybe the Andes if we don't get the mountains theme DLC)
Possible
-tundra or polar/subpolar
-India
-Himalayas
-Islands
Unlikely:
-Coastal
-Rainforest
-Desert
Very unlikely
A whole pack dedicated to birds or fully marine animals

Forget the llama, I'll take a pack full of caprines lol
  • Markhor
  • Takin
  • Musk Ox
  • Chamois
  • Nubian Ibex
  • Himalayan Tahr
  • Japanese Serow
Honestly if we were to get this I know most people would be upset but I would honestly be fine with it, the most mountains a mountain pack can get lol.
Yes, I would LOVE that, hahaha! But I love caprines, so, no wonder!

The "new" unofficial meta-wishlist has it third after the coati and secretary bird.
Wait, there's a new meta-wishlist? Who owns that thread so I can look it up? Haha.
Who honestly likes building for ungulates more than goats or caprines?
Honestly, probably people who want to build more efficiently. 🙃 Building for non-caprine ungulates is generally simple in contrast to other species (though the indoor holdings are more complicated).

I will say its a lot less stressful because you can generally worry less about hit boxes, climbing isn't an issue, etc.

How many ungulates do you all think we may get in a Highlands Pack? Frontier could honestly put 4 ungulates in a pack like this and I wouldn't complain, but I'm expecting 2 to 3. Give me caprines!
Generally speaking, I'd prefer they cap it out at 2 per pack. But I would be fine with 3 in this case so long as the third was fairly distinct and brought something new to the table. I don't fully trust Frontier to do that after the Arid debacle, though so...
This is the time for frontier to unleash their craze for ungulates. Give me 4 ungulates, the bear, gelada and Pallas cat and I’ll be fine.
This is the one pack where a swath of ungulates wouldn't completely bum me out... Except that I'd really much prefer we get some of the other critters too. So I'd prefer they cap it at 2-3 so the majority of the pack can be other animals. But if it was the takin, markhor, and another goat? I definitely wouldn't complain. Hah.

But if they do that then I'd want them to be very selective about the other slots. If we got 3 ungulates plus the wolverine, Pallas cat, the (highly unlikely) tree kangaroo, and one of the others (rock hyrax, spectacled bear, baboon)? I would have zero complaints.

It's all weighted for me. Arid pack was a win for me almost explicitly because I got the porcupine and the sand cat. The rest was all gravy. It's still not one of my favorites but... I got the animals I'd want out of a pack like that so I'm fine with whatever. There's just more I'd want out of a highlands pack.

I assume Suzieskys 2023 Essential habitat animals META-WISHLIST is what is meant here. Which isnt any less official than random goats original one
Ah, okay! I was just thrown off by them saying it was the "third" one, hah. I wanted to be sure I wasn't missing something.

...And this isn't directly in response to what you're saying here, so forgive me, but I actually think (for the most part) the meta wishlist would look pretty similar if folks were to do it all over again. Animals might shift a spot or two but I do think the top 10 would look very similar given how unique most of the animals are.

And we’ll probably get our answer soon cus I’m pretty sure Susie said she’d redo the list every year

So far this year we have gotten the following for habitat animals:

2 carnivorans
6 ungulates
1 primate
3 "other" mammals
2 birds
1 reptile

Which of these groups do you think will get reps next pack?
