Winter 2023 DLC Speculation

Almost all of Africa's missing animals are birds or monkeys. As I've said, you could extremely easily make a full African animal pack consisting solely of animals that aren't carnivores or ungulates that are either heavily-requested, very common in zoos, or both. Pick seven of:

Secretary bird
Shoebill
Grey crowned crane
Marabou stork
Southern ground hornbill
Helmeted guineafowl
Egyptian goose
Nile crocodile
Sulcata tortoise
Hamadryas baboon
Mantled guereza
De Brazza's monkey
Diana monkey
Rock hyrax
Pretty tough choice, but I’d go with:
  1. Secretary Bird
  2. Mantled Guereza
  3. Rock Hyrax
  4. Radiated Tortoise (my own add on)
  5. Grey Crowned Crane
  6. Gelada
  7. Southern Ground Hornbill
Although if I was allowed to add ungulates/carnivores I would take out Crane and hyrax for serval and Waterbuck.

I would pick grey crowned crane, secretary bird, helmeted guineafowl, Nile crocodile, mantled guereza, rock hyrax and de Brazza's monkey.

But there are still ungulate and carnivoran species from Africa that would be nice to have (gerenuk, Impala, eland, kudu, serval, civet, honey badger, Mongoose, african leopard, a real lion, etc)

Also, I am a bit confused about why the waterbuck of all things has gained some traction. We already got a swamp antelope and when we got it people were upset lol
I wasn't upset at all by the Nile Lechwe, I was confused on why it was included at first, but I really enjoy its inclusion both for its appearance and building habitats for them. I would prefer another african ungulate that I can actually build an interesting enclosure for. The two you listed above are also good examples, but I also prefer building swampy enclosures. And who knows, frontier loves wildcards, maybe it could sneak its way in.

Plus look at that majestic neck floof

Beat choices left for African ungulate is probably Aoudad or Kirk's Dik-Dik. Better than another medium-large savanna antelope that doesn't bring much new to African regions.

I'm confused as to why we got an antelope instead of a waterfowl and then i was confused about why it was the lechwe and not the WATERbuck.

The only antelope that I really cant see add anything to the game is the impala. Another gazelle like antelope, no interesting colours or anything, doesn't live in any exciting biome like wetlands, I dont see the value.

Most of all the african hoofstock has something unique, waterbuck can be in interesting enclosures, gerenuk has its neck which can definitly make some fantastic enclosures, eland is the largest african antelope (I think), impala doesnt bring anything.

Playing devils advocate here, while i dont need it it does look pretty and pretty distinct from our other antelopes as ironically enough a brownish orange with large horns is something not currently in the game, but more importantly they are by far africas most successfull ungulates, being rediculously common and often making up up to 80% of a regions ungulate variety. They are also quite ancient, having held their position as africas most versatile and common ungulate for atleast 5 million years, being the last survivors of their family.
So while they are not the most interesting, they do look unique, are literally the most common and important ungulate in the wild and have been for quite a while, so they do have all the reasons to be a neat addition, even if i understand that they arnt the most interesting.

I get the significance of it in conservation but to me it’s not more important than the enjoyment of building for them. But that’s my own opinion.

As great as another gazelle like animal would be for the extremely lacking diversity for our african mixed savanna habitats, getting more primates for Africa should be of more importance. Primate Habitats are way more fun to build than another grassland hoofstock habitat and also we only have a single monkey to work with for Africa. The black and white colobus monkey or similar smaller monkeys should be viewed as essential as the hamadryas baboon.

Imo we only need 2 more african primates. One baboon either Gelada or Hamadryas my preference is Gelada but it doesnt matter that much, and the Black and White Colobus. South America deserves the rest of the monkey spots. Final 4 in general I believe that would add the most diversity to the game are:

Colobus, Gelada, Howler, and the Spider Monkey which for some reason no pictures would upload for it.)
