X55 Rhino Button Layout with Reference Card

Has anyone managed to get the mouse pointer stick on the throttle working for anything yet ?
I really want this for yaw and pitch so I can still control the ship in SC but have a cup of tea in my hand at the same time.

Nope, still no luck there. I give it a shot every now and then but with no success, other than basic mouse pointer movement.

I did find a bit of something saying how to get the mini mouse joystick to work in ED but it didn't work for me.

I haven't tested this out myself, but, if you go into the x55 software you can change the mouse axis setting on the mouse nipple to a directional axis with a positive and negative value. Just click on the drop down arrow and select Directional Axis. Now you can assign button presses, macros, or advanced commands to X+, X-, Y+, and Y-.

Just feed your Custom.binds to the generator linked in my signature; far quicker and easier than doing it manually.

Hi Commander,

This is an awesome utility.

Any chance you could do the same for the keyboard bindings?

A lot of players are using keyboard and mouse and might shower you with praise. Even I occasionally revert to keyboard and hotas isn't always with me if I demo the game for a friend.

Is there a problem with your X55 reference sheet generator?

Whenever I submit mine I get "405 Not Allowed" :S

Been looking around to find cheapest place to get one of these and it seems Dabs are cheapest at the mo by a fair chunk. They are showing as out of stock unfortunately but expecting more in a week. Has anyone ordered one from Dabs before and got any feed back? Just seems like a steal when its not much more than the X52 Pro.

Did you order one of these? as i did, and now showing as unconfirmed delivery date.

Thats what I did. Didn't work for me

I tried it too. No joy.
:(
Wonder if there's a third party utility that might do it.

I'm also assuming that, if this worked, you'd lose the...and yes, this is a word...analogicity of the mouse nubbin?

Hehehehe. Nice word. Although maybe "analogue nature" may have been better.

I reckon it might go digital. That wouldn't bother me. I only want it for keeping me vaguely on course and I can do that with a digital control and brief control inputs.

Beta 2

I haven't managed to download beta 2 yet and not sure if the format of the Custom.binds file has changed, but will attempt to update the generator in the next day. If anyone wants to give it a try as-is and report back on success, especially with any of the new commands, please do so and let me know how it goes.

Hi,

I thought I'd share some of my X-55 solutions:

• I've mapped the sliding button on the throttle to caps lock, non-latching, so that it's held down whenever the slide is enabled. This mapping seems to have no ill effects for text entry or modifier keys. I've set the reverse throttle to “hold” in Elite, and mapped another throttle button to it as well: this way I can momentarily do reverse throttle by holding the “H” button, or use the slider (“caps lock”) to toggle it.

• I mapped the mouse nipple to work as a mouse, and then enabled mouse look in Elite. Furthermore I mapped the POV hat to direct (not accumulative) headlook. This way the mouse nipple can be used to look around in an analogue, accumulative manner, and the POV hat is used for quickly glancing around (and due to direct mode it snaps back after released, but the mouse look doesn't).

This is absolutely awesome. THANKS! I really appreciate it! It's an awesome setup!

Here's my set up:

:)

I concur, a cool set up that's given me some ideas, though I'd probably stick to my mini stick and the pinky spin/rocker for mouse use, and the slide switch to change from normal to reverse thrust (it's set to Caps Lock). I can pretty much play the game without my keyboard now, except for any comms, but I'm hoping one day VoiceAttack can support speech-to-text input for text entry so I won't even need that.
