X55 Rhino Button Layout with Reference Card

That looks pretty cool. Would you be willing to share your config file?

I've slightly changed some of my binds, as wanted the better control over thrusters that mapping them to the POV hat gave me when docking. Also, I find the mouse better to look around with until I get TrackIR:

Hey everyone, this is the button mapping I've set up in Elite Dangerous. If anyone would like to try it, enjoy:

Hi guys.... I've got this HOTAS, but with different button layouts... Notice the hat switch that is used to navigate "cycle next/prev Subsystems & Cycle Fire Group" - Bottom middle info box???

My switch is on it's way-out . I use the up/down (and left/right) to navigate through menus, and as such I'm always using it when in dock (or using UI screens)... And the down action has lost it's click! It still works, but you just know it's not going to be long before it messes things up :(

That said, I just can't do without it :D - I've had it for a couple of months and love it!

"Do I regret the purchase?" - Nope
"Would I tell anyone to buy one?" - Erm...
1) Build quality has always been a question about this setup in-loo of the Thrustmaster Warthog... So I don't really know....
2) Was really never happy with how the joystick actually works - the "ball-joint" (?) mechanism leaves a lot to be desired and the amount of lube it arrived with shows they know it's wearing on the plastics - BUT it's a really good joystick!
"Change your arrangement to not wear out the HAT?" - Maybe, but you wouldn't expect it to have failed already :(

Just my short two cents

Hmm, mine arrived a couple of days ago. Distinct lack of any card/info to register for warranty. Noticed the lube too. But if any switches on mine show signs of fail after only 2 months I'll be asking for a refund/replacement under sale of goods act (uk).

Has anybody tried pairing up this stick with an iPad and an app that sends touchscreen presses to the PC? I'm playing around with an app to let me use an iPad for the UI functions so that the stick/throttle is used for flight and weapons systems only.

It does seem to have some idiosyncracies, but I'm getting there.

Just remember you get two years warranty in the EU regardless of what some manufacturers might try and say, so hopefully that covers us nicely.

Have had mine for a couple of weeks now, overall very good, but the Z axis is a little too stiff... Will probably buy some pedals in the not too distant future so not to worry. My main issue is the mouse nipple, the diagnostic program recongnises when I move it, and I have mapped it according to Madcats' instructions... But I just can't get it to work outside of the program... Perhaps a windows 8 issue?

No, not Win8 as mine is fine. You are loading the profile before going into the game? The small icons in the system tray that look like small mountain peaks, if they are white means no profile. They should be green. They have a lot to learn from Logitech about peripheral profiles, as their LGS works so much better (maybe I can figure a way to get it to do my X55.......).

I can look at mine when I get home tonight and post more details.

Much obliged! Yes, the profile is loaded (via the little blue target button), the main software thing shut down, and the green icon in the system tray is, well... Green! Followed the directions issued here... http://support.madcatz.com/Knowledg...-x55-mouse-nipple-to-control-the-mouse-cursor

I'll defiantly be getting it replaced when/if it fails completely OR when I can live without it for a week or two... Maybe when ED goes to Beta 3? :p ... Though I hope keeps on working until then :-D

First up , a huge THANKYOU to both Sandcracka and jgm for their awesome work.

Thanks also to everyone here who has posted their preferred button bindings etc...it's all be enormously educational.

I have a favour to ask of both sandcracka and jgm...

Sandcracka can you please post an unbinded version of your graphic?
(ie each box with empty binding references)
I find it very easy to follow your sheet when playing the game, however, I'm crap at graphic modification and end up ruining the graphic trying to change the bindings to reflect my setup. Can you also add a textbox for the slider switch please?

jgm, can you also include text boxes for the "mouse-nipple" and slider switch control to your graphic, even if they cannot be populated by your script?
Your tool is so handy as I'm forever tweaking my bindings.

Cheers

Reference Card Generator

The Reference Card Generator isn't working for me at the moment.
Getting "405 Not Allowed" with and without a binds file attached.
Was working for me before, but I've changed my layout and wanted to update it.

Mine X55 Rhino Castle HAT failed to function within 3 months.
Long story short I got a replacement and still happy with the Rhino, will however l change some setting to not stress the Castle Hat, saw some good ideas in this thread :)

Sorry, my fault. It should be back up and running again now.
