X55 Rhino Button Layout with Reference Card

I've just tested out the X-55 reference sheet generator and it seems to work fine with PB2 but if anyone finds problems please do let me know so that I can keep it up-to-date.

Got my x52 pro yesterday but life got in the way and I have not had time to plug it in yet. Is their an x52pro version of this reference card knocking about. I had a look but could not find one. <-------EDIT - Never mind this I found it! :D

as an aside, my wife walked in from work and just bust out laughing when she saw it on the desk. I did tell her I was buying a new joystick but I don't think she was prepared for the size of the x52. side by side the stick and throttle are bigger than my laptop I play on :D

Good idea to share bindings files. Here is my Custom.binds file, and the layout is below (click for full-size versions)

Huh, nice one. How do you find strafing using the joystick hand? Dont you feel it a bit awkward? I find that I need my thumb applying full grip for decent stick steering control... or firing secondary.

Have you tried having thrusters mapped to one of the thumb hat switches in the throttle?

Thanks

I've been playing around with building out a system to generate a reference card from the custom binds automatically(ish). It's at http://www.mcdee.net/elite/; have a play with it and let me know what you think. Any and all feedback is welcome.

Sir, you are a Scholar and a Gent! Thanks for this I've been pulling my hair out trying to work out what button matches to what with my new X55.

Thanks again.

Thanks for taking the time to post this layout. I started with yours and edited to arrive at the following:

Note--I've got TrackIR, which eliminates the needs to access UI panels with buttons. You simply look in that direction and you can then interact with them. And you get a HAT switch by ditching the POV buttons.

yeaps - vertical/lateral on pedals :)
if you have no pedals - you can use hats for them, there are plenty of unused hats on x55 ;)

this setup i got from very experienced ED player and it worked great even if i never had any hotas/stick setup before :)

here's my x55 setup ;)

Maybe it's just me but I'd never put eject cargo on a toggle, especially when the other direction is used for an uncommon but non-critical operation.

Personally I have it locked behind a Voice Attack request which requires confirmation. Haven't used it yet outside of testing and hope I never will, but at least I'm never going to drop my cargo accidentally.

if you feel safer then sure - use voice attack and don't assign any buttons on hotas/stick, but those "toggles" are very hard to press so no accidents can happen there, also it's uncomfortable to reach that particular toggle unless your throttle is at low speed ;)

It's not a case of pressing it accidentally, more a case of not remembering which toggle does what in the heat of the moment and pressing the wrong one purposefully. Unexpected outcome more than accidental action.
