X55 Rhino Button Layout with Reference Card

Just a quick question for X55 owners. Are these fully circulating now with the merchants? I'm thinking about ordering one from Mad Catz.

Just wondering if it will be a pre-order and waiting a while or if they ship straight away.

Thanks in advance.

Dude its been out since like March or April haha. I ordered mine from Amazon on Monday and got it Friday.

Thanks, that's good to know :)

Wasn't sure, and waiting for rift is hard enough, I wouldn't wanna spend another 2 months waiting for that to ship also.

Cheers for the info

well amazon.co.uk was out of stock of x55s on thursday, though 9 x52pros did pop up and i bagged one, not sure my hands are big enough for x55 as i remember trying to use the old x45. the x52/pro have adjustable handrest which is a bonus.

Okay I’m going through setting up the X55 in the Elite “Controls” tab and I am noticing that it has assigned certain buttons as “Joy22”, “Joy12”, etc, etc.

In Windows Control Panel where the throttle and stick are listed you can go and check the operation of each button, and each circle has a number when it goes on and off.

Can anyone tell me if these numbers in the Control Panel are the same numbers as I am seeing in Elite’s Controls tab? i.e. “Joy 07” = Control Panel number “7”

If it is the same this would help assigning stuff on my set up a lot as in the Elite Controls tab I haven’t a clue what button Joy 07, etc really is.

Joy Trigger is button 1, then work up from there. I used an online widget to take a note of what number corresponds to each button;

The red numbers are the ones that pop up in ED

Nicely done for putting this on a button layout diagram. I did my own scribbled version on jgm's diagram. It's especially useful because ED shows, for example, Joy 1 on both the throttle and the Stick.

+1 rep from me.

Hi guys!

I've read most of the posts and apparently no one has managed to assign the mouse nipple to the thrusters (as an analog stick).

Does the 'Directional Axis' selection only transform the nipple in a 4 buttons hat?
No way to obtain an analog stick?

Thanks for your help.

I’m getting my X55 today and by reading through this thread I have got a lot of useful ideas and suggestions how to set it up. However I think I will be interested in using the mode switch and almost none have shared any information how to do macro stuff and such. Could someone help me out here because I would like to have 3 modes (landing, flight, combat) with how to switch things on/off and set power automatically when switching modes?

Not sure if it is all working/possible. I wont get my stick for another 2 weeks. : |

How did you manage to get the SLIDER on the throttle to change forward/Reverse. I posted a question, but it got shunted to the OFF TOPIC/HARDWARE forum :(

+1

And how did you get those rotaries working like that?

I'm guessing you're a wiz with the Saitek software that comes with the X55!

I'm not at my gaming machine right now and it's been a while since I programmed mine but from memory:

In ED you set your reverse key to 'Hold mode' rather than toggle.

Then in the saitek software, in the command box for both slider positions you press your reverse key (the key you bound in elite options), the saitek software records both the key down and key release in each box, you then delete the key down action from one box and delete the key release action from the other box.

I tried exactly what you're asking for a while but found that control too fiddly to use in the heat of the moment so I moved that function to the lower thumb wheel on the right of the throttle. You set it to 'bands' and have the lower band just below the center detent, then its a fairly similar setup to the slider switch.

As I say, it's been a while though.

Ahh...so not something I can easily set up within the INGAME options.

Currently I have one of the FINGER buttons on the back of the throttle set for Forward/Reverse.

Does this get past the problem of spamming the 'held' key press into any text entry field in the game? Such as quick chat or the search box in the Galaxy map?

I can't remember if it works if you just set it in game, I vaguely remember it seeming the wrong way round at first, that might have been the simple in game setup, not sure. Why not just try it?

Dunno mate, it was a while ago I tried that control scheme and I probably never tried chatting while reversing either.

I'm now trying something completely different with x55 stick in right hand, a t16000m in left hand for lateral/vertical thrust and pz35 peddles with spring removed for throttle, only played a couple of hours but it seems pretty good so far.

Set a hotkey to the forward only throttle reverse i.e. (Right CTRL+NUM 1) make sure hold is set for button mode.

Open the Saitek software. Select SBK. Hover mouse over it and Click the little arrow button (top right corner of SBK box). Click on New Key Presses and enter the same keys used in ED for throttle reverse. Name it reverse or whatever you want. Make sure the name is selected at the bottom. See pic.
Last thing is name a profile for the Saitek and use it with ED.

Has anyone managed to get the mouse pointer stick on the throttle working for anything yet ?
I really want this for yaw and pitch so I can still control the ship in SC but have a cup of tea in my hand at the same time.
