Your Cobra MkV Builds

I bought it to use to recover Titan Drive Components except it doesn't have enough power with Low Emissions Power Plant to keep heat down.

You might consider clean tuning your drives instead of dirty. It would still boost a respectable mid fives, and potentially stay below 20% heat at full boost in the old debris fields (caustic cloud at Cocijo might warm it up a bit, IDK.)

What's the point of being that cold?
CMk5 has 5 hardpoints, I'm sure you can put a vent beam on one of them. Or you can just boost away from nearly anything at 610 m/s (with dirty drives).

Good observation! I should have compared on paper. I don't know if I have any size 4s left, but if so, size 4 prismatic and size 5 hull reinforcement is a better combo indeed.
It also frees up enough power to add extra shield boosters (depending on hardpoint loadout).

My build above uses a class 4A standard shield with similar hitpoints (about 820Mj, iirc) and significantly higher resistances. It's somewhat power constrained, however.

Accomplishing the mission. There are no targets for vent beams on the bare outskirts of the debris field, and alerting thargoinds and running away means not finding drive components, which is what the poster was after.

What are the weapons for? If you get rid of them, you can run much cooler. Here's mine. It's colder, faster, stronger and has more jump range:

It's been a little while since I went into a dead Titan, I was using my Cobra 3 before when I did and it was fine. This build is based on the old build. I saw you had regular multi's on... I'm not sure if you are aware, but they won't help you against any scouts floating around, so I added some AX multi's instead... and went in shieldless on my old cobra so I left it that way in this build... Since I haven't gone in with the 5 yet, it might need to be tweaked a little, but it's based on a smuggling and hatch breaking Pirate build that I'm doing.. By the way, the size 3 Operations Multi controllers give you 4 limpets instead of the 3 you get with the size 5 collector.... But the point was the Temps... 12.4 Idle and 14.8 with thrusters.

If it's Titan Drive Components you're after, there's absolutely zero reason to cripple your ship with clean drives.

There are no Thargoids at all in Cocijo's debris field, all you need is a caustic sink and a corrosion resistant cargo rack.

In other Titans' debris fields some Interceptors and Glaives might spawn, but most of the time they are busy shooting at AX NPCs and leave you alone. In any case speed is more useful than low heat, just bring a few heatsinks and a couple of weapons to deal with anything you cannot outrun (Glaives).

General mission runner/cargo runner with teeth built in the hope we get ‘small pad only’ missions one day.

I’ve messed around with a few builds and this feels like it has the best TTK/balance for when pulled over in space against both small and large ships.

Quite capable of hanging out in a Haz Rez but replace the Prismatic with Bi-weave/fast charge and change the shield boosters over to resistance augmented. You might want a larger MJ shield value too.

Whenever I try to open a coriolis.io link, I get an error message. Does anyone know how to fix it?

The error:

Jameson, we have a problem..

Ship not found: cobramkv

Try clearing your browser cache. Coriolis saves the ship settings to the browser's local storage. Alternatively, you can clear the storage manually by pressing F12 to invoke developer tools, then switch to the 'console' tab, and write:

localStorage.clear()

Confirm the command by pressing enter. Reload the site and you should be good to go.

Does that also clear all of your stored ships?
I've not had that kind of error from Coriolis before but my first guess would have been that the local copy of the app's code hadn't been updated since the MkV was added - when that happens, Coriolis tends to put up a banner saying something like "New version available - click here to update".

i'm running armored G5 a-grade powerplant + monstered experimental on it
is that a bad combo to run? i seem to have enough power and the heat isnt bad. adds a bit of weight tho
maybe there is something better?

Yes, it will wipe everything since Coriolis saves every loadout to your browser's storage. You might want to export your loadouts first, save them to a text file, and re-import them after you wipe the storage.

The rule of thumb is to set up your power plant for almost exactly as much power as you need without an excess, while also using power priorities to turn off things that don't need to be on when hardpoints are out. You also want a better Thermal Coefficient for various reasons.

This is why Armored is the bog standard for most people. You get 12% more power to play with, you're cooler, and it also makes your power plant tougher and therefore less likely to be picked off by a well aimed PA. You then pick Thermal Spread or Monstered depending on whether or not you need that little bit of extra power or a cooler ship overall. Sometimes this means you can downsize your power plant to save weight and accomplish this same goal...but the Cobra Mk V is a power limited ship, so it's unlikely that you'll find yourself with a surplus of power. The ship is also blazingly fast, and the little bit of mass added by Armored is not a dealbreaker at all.

Overcharged gives a ton of power but also makes you hotter. It also takes away from your power plant's toughness. Getting planted isn't a fun way to explode.

Low Emissions can be fun on ships that can handle it, because rarely having to worry about heat ever again is every pilot's dream. Still, you have to deal with having up to 15% less power. There are ways to do that, but not likely on this particular ship in a combat scenario.

My Cobra MK5 for Exploration

this is what im currently running with, you could reduce the weight some more to get a tiny bit more jump range.

But I prefer the way it is now, decent jump range, fun to fly across planets and should have everything needed to go exploring/do exobio.

FSD is the Pre-Engineered (SCO)

The Surface scanner is the Pre-Engineered Detailed Surface Scanner V1

and I´m planning to get the Modified Mining Laser in future

If you really wanted get some more range you could swap the shield to a 3D but with the 3C you´re most likely going to survive flying straight into a planet (if that´s not something you´re worried about you could possibly also remove the Shield booster). Edit: Changed the Link to one with 3D Enh.LowPow/Hi-Cap (thanks to anShpan)

The 4D Power Distributor could be swapped to a 2D or 3D if im not mistaken but that would mean no more boosting (or rather you´ll have to wait for quite some time until you can boost a second/third time).

Point Defence is not really needed but with 2x 0.08t weight i just figured i might as well fill the open slots.

If there are some other improvements that could be done please let me know. I think I´ve finally got it all worked out but since im still new I´d be happe for some advice/improvements.

Edit: This is my most recent version that I as of March 2025 use (Stargazer).
I don´t have lw Life Support since I will have to go to Colonia for that first.

and this is the version with the max jumprange while still having all the essentials (Essential Stargazer).
But since its only a difference of 2-3ly I dont see the point in it.
