I've driven my SRV up and down 60 degree+ cliffs with no problems.
Always remember that you have thrusters if things start to go pear shaped.
I encountered one planet with some very deep ravines, and I wanted to go down to the bottom just to see what it was like, really. I thought perhaps some bio would be down there too, but I just thought the deepness and steepness looked interesting.
I'm pretty decent with the SRV, but these cliffs were nearly vertical and I was pretty sure the SRV wouldn't get back up once I went down, so I went on foot.
Note that my Artemis has both enhanced jump assist and longer sprint times, and I've done a fair bit of spelunking in it, so I was confident I'd be OK.
I almost wasn't!
The cliffs were impossible to climb, even with jump assist. I could get partway up, but then I'd just slide back down helplessly.
In the end I had to follow the bottom of the ravine for a long way until eventually there was a lesser slope I could actually climb.
It was amusing, and the closest I've come to dying while doing exobiology (it wasn't that close, I had plenty of battery left, but it made me realize that it
might be possible to die out there).
I kept the coordinates in case I ever want to go back there, but it's a long way from anything, so I probably never will.
