Spring dlc Speculation 2023

2023
  • Easter - Birds dlc with Roseate spoonbill and birds in WE
  • Summer - Drylands animal pack with Addax
  • Autumn - Rainforest dlc with Ocellated turkey
  • Animal Aniversary – Saiga antelope
  • Winter - Highlands animal pack with Ethiopian wolf
2024
  • Easter – Marine dlc with Southern elephant seal
  • Summer - Safari animal pack with Giant eland
  • Autumn – Islands dlc with Blue-spotted tree monitor
  • Animal Aniversary – Black-footed ferret // Yellow-throated marten
  • Winter - Endangered species animal pack with Red wolf
2025
  • Easter - Petting zoo dlc with Ankole-watusi cattle
I'm also hoping we get a pack or 2 in 2024.

With 4 packs I could plan out (not in any order)
Islands- Scenery Pack for sure - Tasmanian Devil as the marketed animal
Rainforest/Tropical - Animal Pack for sure - a Sloth as the marketed animal
Drylands/Prairie - not sure if better as a scenery or animal pack - Old World Porcupine as the marketed animal
Cold Weather (Taiga and Tundra mix) - not sure if better as a scenery or animal pack - Walrus as the marketed animal

But even adding just 1 DLC for 2024 could add in a Farmland/Petting Zoo as a Scenery pack. - not sure what to pick as a marketed animal. Maybe a Rabbit of some kind?

If there were 2 packs for 2024 I'd like to think the final pack could be an animal pack to just round out the fan favorites or other animals that just didn't make it in another pack. No idea what would be the marketed animal as it would totally depend on what was included in the other 5 packs.

It was written with a bit of sarcasm, but the very constant use of the word tanuki in this community is a bit of a mystery to me.
It makes sense to want the tanuki for an island pack, but even before islands were a common topic when somebody suggested a raccoon dog the word tanuki would often be used whatever it was for a general Asia pack, Woodlands, or something else.

And many times I have seen someone point out there is a difference between the two species.
Yet the use of Tanuki doesn't seem to die out here. As long as people are aware there is a difference between the species, they can use the word they want and they can wish for the species they want. Lots of animals have multiple common names anyway.

I'm really just curious where this insistent use of the word Tanuki comes from. I haven't really seen it used much outside of the PZ community. Most sources I know of will use Raccoon Dog or Japanese Racoon Dog first and then mention Tanuki under other names. It feels like an internet thing I have missed out on, but I have not been able to dig it up.
So when I poke a bit at this topic, it is mostly because I don't really get what this is all about.
For me at least, it’s always been my primary point of exposure to the (sub)species. As previously mentioned, they sort of appear in Mario 3 as the “Tanooki” suit, and most Japanese media that doesn’t inaccurately simply call them a “raccoon” gets localized as “tanuki”. I can understand that (Japanese) raccoon dog is generally used in more scientific discussions, though. Personally I’m fine with whichever term as long as my weird fox buds get in the game.

This is pretty much a perfect candidaye for a mod. And the climbing animations wouldn't need a new rig, just a new animation.
It is a mod, but I asked about giving it the ability to climb and the modder said that it's not possible unless they use an animal that climbs. So, that'd be kinda wasted for me, since that's what makes a grey fox a grey fox and not an ordinary fox
Whoa. Okay. Guess I touched a nerve, there.
Nah, man, I'm just teasing. To be honest, I doubt that it'd add anything worthwhile. I just like them and wish they were included in the game since the North American pack

Yeah the mod is just the red fox I believe, it would be best if the mod was based on the Binturong rig since it can climb

I definitley don't want it to be the next dlc but I would really want a reptile house pack. It nearly finish off our reptile roster having,

1. Another monitor, preferably aboreal like the Lace or crocodile monitor or mabey even a tegu
2. A smaller Tortoise like the Radiated
3. A freshwater river Turtle like tge pig nosed, snake necked or arau River
4. A medium sized crocodillian like tomistoma
Or Chinese Alligator
5. Probably a chameleon for exhibit mabey even multiple exhibit animals

But the best part would have to me the scenery. This would be the perfect opportunity to add lots more faux tree and rock pieces. A lot of stuff to fit in a reptile house would just be awesome. And animals would help me make a realistic reptile house which is a staple of a lot of zoos without having the same large Tortoise, komodo dragon and caiman every time.

Oh man, imagine it's an Islands DLC and it drops April 7...

April 7, the Houston Zoo is opening the Galapagos Islands area of the zoo. Just imagine that, y'all, how cool that would be. Oh man, I wish that Frontier would work alongside the Houston Zoo for inspiration
Like it comes with habitat iguanas, sharks ,fish and an underwater tunnel system 🤣 If only

I think that the new DLC will drop on the 4th of April since it’s one week before Easter as usual. So there is a chance that we are going to hear something around half of March, say 17th of March maybe. I really can’t wait with what they are going to surprise us this time.
Guys it’s like only 6 weeks left 🤩

We tecnically already seen underwater tunnels officially, sadly, we only can do it with bugs or mods, imagine if they make it official in a future update...👀

You think proper underwater tunnels are possible and will be added?

My idea for them is that you set up a station on land where guests walk in. You then set up a section underwater where guests "teleport" inside (kinda like how restaurants work, in a way), and this tunnel is modular, allowing you to add 4×4 squares where guests can walk. The walls also are customizable, and you can do mesh, glass, netting, null or solid. You can also set up a 2nd entrance/exit.

Is this making sense?

An underwater tunnel path option would be simpler imo
