Winter 2023 DLC Speculation

What is that supposed to be?

Zoos in winter time are lovely! Particularly city zoos and european zoos. I was planning myself to go to Berlin this winter, but am going to Edinburgh instead to see the pandas before they go! I’d say 100% worth it!!!
I agree, but as @AndyZoos said, it depends. The Houston Zoo has a lot of warm climates species, but a lot of areas and habitats have indoor places, so you can still see a lot of animals even on cold days (primates are always indoors, but I don't enjoy going to the primates much anyways)

I think it’s because I’m from North America, but the burrowing owl. We could get a habitat bird that can live with our prairie dogs, use the burrow feature, and be the first owl species in game.

I think the other one is the guar. An absolutely beautiful and massive bovid from India.

Finally for an exhibit animal: the mata Mata turtle.
the problem with the owl is it still flies alot so unless the add flying animations it would look a bit weird.
The bane of all PlanZo keepers has returned. DarthQuell couldn't be kept under his rock, and he's returned for more chaos and carnage as we speak...

I guess nothing new has really been speculated, huh? Same ol' "not birds, but possibly" and "mountains? Taiga? Tundra? Latin America?" ideas being thrown around?
you missed alot of rage about petting zoos what counts as a domestic and whether they are zoo animals.
For the past 3 years?? I'm pretty sure back then people were more focused on getting capybaras and sea lions into the game than birds. Like the "birds are coming" got traction with twilight because of the bats, or am I missing something here...

they were clearly avoiding the question like usual there is nothing to go on in that statement
My general advice when you see a random user say "X is too hard so they won't do it" is just to ignore them because people talk out of their african wild ass and literally have 0 idea what Frontier is capable of doing.

What got traction from there is the incredibly annoying trend of "Planet zoo cannot have birds so they will do like JWE and add birds in a sequel" idea that is so incredibly dumbfounding
this is the idea is think will happen because as you keep saying birds not appearing seems intentional I think they are saving full habitat flying birds for a sequel where they can build the system to start with them it would make and easy distinguishing factor between the game and sell the sequel. Do I like the idea of a sequel not really but it will probably happen and im just hoping it will fix everything wrong with the first.
Yoo koalas not climbing and birds not layong eggs are on a completely different level imo :)
The koala thing is a permanent thing that is always relevant.
But the egg thing would also be just a little detail. I mean the incubation time for an ostrich egg is a little over a month, how long is that in game? Couple Minutes?
this is a wild take unless your building for the koala in every zoo you build or always have breeding off laying eggs is going to be relevant and affect you average zoo more and nothing about the ingame time is realistic so incubation wont be either.
But they are on a different level eggs are much harder to implement then the koala though for me they are about the same level of immersion breaking.

Yeah of course. I think that’s why a lot of city zoos are great to visit (they tend to have a lot of indoor areas) and zoos in the uk, as they usually have a great deal of cold climate species. But I’d say Berlin is one of the zoos that’s great for a winter visit, considering it has indoor displays for a LOT of its animals!

also what are people thoughts about an oddballs pack where all the animals are the only habitat animals of their type
  • coconut crab (biggest land invertebrate)
  • Chinese giant salamander (largest amphibian)
  • burrowing owl (has low like fluttering flying animations) / roadrunner (speedy mostly land bird)
  • marine iguana (first habitat iguana and primarily aquatic) / dugong or manatee (fully aquatic but fairly common in zoos)
  • a sea snake or krait / caecilian (no too sold on the exhibit animal)

Alright I’m all caught up, was a bit busy today.

I see most of this recent conversation is about View attachment 374976
And while I think it’s a cool feature, it really doesn’t do anything for me. It seems like a feature that when first getting it people would be like “oh wow cool” then after they don’t care. I would rather frontier spend their time on features that would actually enhance gameplay, if they’re gonna add animations to animals it should be petting, feeding, or new enrichment to interact with, cause there’s so much untapped potential with enrichment it’s annoying. Overall, ok feature, but there are way better features I feel should be focused on.
Oh no, now I have the egg pun song stuck in my head.
Related to this but still off topic, is it worth to visit a Zoo in Winter? Im currently planning a couple day trip to Berlin to visit both its zoos aswell as the Natural History Museum. Kinda unsure if thats really all that cool to do in Winter, or if i should Just wait till spring
Depends on the animals. There is very little cuter than red pandas wrestling in the snow.
