Winter 2023 DLC Speculation

So, what have we figured out in 369 pages?

BASICALLY CERTAIN:
There will be a DLC in December 2023 (steamdb, established release schedule)

HIGHLY LIKELY:
Said DLC will be an animal pack (established pattern of 2 animal/2 scenery packs a year)

REASONABLE SPECULATION:
The DLC theme will have a temperate or cold-weather focus (meta-wishlist, previous 3 packs being the opposite)

The wolverine will be one of the new animals (aforementioned cold-weather hypothesis, new meta-wishlist #1)
Unless they're making 2023 the year of warmer theme releases, in which case I'm totally going with Central/South/Latin America. We did get a Temperate oriented pack so we could get the same next year, since Temperate is kind of in the middle of the warm/cool climates. Not too hot, not too cold.

next year something like Eurasia, Tundra, Mountains, Temperate or some other way of doing it.

Well yesterday while being out all day my phone was dead so I spent the whole day thinking of what animals I would want to build for the most regardless of the pack that’s coming. Here’s what I came up with:
  1. Gelada / Hyrax Mix
  2. Barbary Sheep / Markhor / Tahr
  3. Bear (ABB or Spectacled either way they end up in the Americas)
  4. Tree Kangaroo or Echidna
  5. Vicuña / Guanaco
  6. Spider Monkey
  7. Serval (I have a really cool idea involving netting)
  8. Pelican.
  9. Wolverine (filler in NA section)
  10. Wapiti (also NA filler)
  11. Secretary Bird
  12. Takin
  13. Roseate Spoonbill (I could add this onto the Americas Pavilion)
  14. Arctic Hare
  15. Waterbuck / Grey Crowned Crane (need one more for the African Wetlands.)
As long as the next pack takes at minimum one animal off this list I will be good.
You can make a Gelada/Rock Hyrax and Barbary Sheep Triple Mix. At least they are all hold together at my local Zoo in Stuttgart. A Lot of animals I would also Like to see. I really Hope there is one Open Pack for my favourite Dik Dik at the end (after 2 possibilities came now without it within the Last year with the Grasslands and the Arid animal Pack). Everything else I do not mind so much. Just happy to get more animals.

While I would like more Americas animals cause I’m building that section in my zoo currently, I would enjoy building more if we got a colder themed pack with a couple cold foliage pieces with the free update, also speaking of the free update, we haven’t talked about it recently.

Ooh, ok. If it’s a mountain pack maybe they’d remodel the ski lift thing? Or maybe a resort facility like the restaurants? Ooh, or maybe binoculars?

I wouldn’t be surprised if frontier gave us one last warm dlc or southern equator dlc.
If that is the case then I want 2024 to be cold and or northern equator centric dlc.
I am in hopes that what ever the new feature is we will be able to play around with to keep us interested until spring dlc.
If this dlc is a southern and warm dlc then I want a majority focus on SA. Africa has gotten plenty of attention, Asia got a good amount and Australia areas got some nice attention. SA needs a turn.

How about another bear we haven’t had a bear since 2021.
I’d like to get another reptile as my reptile zoo could use another attraction.
Heck we haven’t gotten a canid this year and I’d like another feline.

I can appreciate the snub nosed monkey being important to China, but... ugh! I'd really love a more wide spread primate. We have such few monkeys / primates...
The amount of primates is not so low. We have 13 primates (compared to 11 Cats for example). But we have a very low amount of Monkeys.
Spider Monkey, Black Howler Monkey and 1-2 African Monkeys (1 of them either the Baboon or the Gelada) would be Something I perhaps would call necessary inclusions.

Another bear would be great. But I am pretty sure that we will not get a full year of DLC with colder climate animals. If you Look to a real Life Zoo (at least the Zoos I saw in Germany) you will certainly see more warmer climate animals than colder climate animals. But I also Hope for Something like Mountains or Highlands where you can put some animals from colder regions into. I prefer this over a General Tundra pack because you can fill a Highlands Pack with animals from Generally known "warmer" climate continents like the Hamadryas Baboon/Gelada from Africa or the Spectacled Bear from South America together with the colder climate animals.

I don’t think they would do anything with the transportation vehicles cause they never have before, my strongest idea is the telescopes. Frontier gave us the domes, and the telescopes don’t require any animal animations, just one guest animation.

But even the 13 are really low compared to the 11 cats. Irl monkeys are so species rich in zoos its crazy, like my local zoo has like 15 monkey species alone

We are FINE on apes and lemurs when it comes to primates. The only one of those two groups I need is an Aye Aye. Other than that, the apes and lemurs should be left alone.
Monkeys on the other hand need a HUGE boost. Some of the ones that could do a great job for monkey diversity are:

• Gelada
• Hamadryas Baboon
• Barbary Macaque
• Golden Snub Nosed Monkey
• any Spider Monkey
• any Howler
• Black Capped Squirrel Monkey
• Mantled Guereza
• White Faced Saki
• Lion Tailed Macaque
• Sulawesi Crested Macaque

And those are only the ones I can think of off the top of my head that I personally would really like to see.

And that’s not even DISCUSSING the other forms of primates. Lorises, Galagos, Tarsiers. All of these have no representation in game as of yet, and would really benefit from being in game. Our nocturnal houses would finally feel real!

• Bengal Slow Loris
• Senegal Bushbaby
• any Tarsier

Then we’d finally be on the right track for primate representation. It’s almost impossible for us at this stage in the game to have a balanced selection of primates, so those that so end up getting in game have to be selected very carefully!

The number of primates in South America or Asia alone can make an animal pack, It can also achieve that each monkey has its own characteristics
