Winter 2023 DLC Speculation

Probably because they better fit the classic alpine vibe one imagines, or atleast better than the hamadryas.
But i too would prefer the hamadryas
Yeah but if we talking about Mountain Pack don't you think it would be more cool to have variation of not just the typical alpine mountains that you think about, and then you have much more of the desert mountains or hills. and also the Spectacled Bear it's environment is not Alpine. so i think variations of mountains in the mountain pack is much more cooler and interesting.

I can be proven wrong again, like I was with Musk Ox, but although Hamadryas Baboons like to live on steep cliffs and hills, they don't necessarily live on high altitudes.

Unlike Geladas which, again if I'm correct, live exclusively on mountains. Also they're nicely represented in European zoos. I've seen them on multiple occasions.
but it's cool to have variation and not all from the same biome and the same type of mountains, so in my opinion inclusion of Spectacled Bear and Hamadryas Baboon is much more interesting than Gelada and American Black Bear or something like that but that is my opinion.

Can I ask why it's looking like people's want more the Gelada than Hamadryas Baboon? because Hamadryas Baboon is so much more common like i don't think i ever seen Gelada in zoos so idk. also it would be funny if we going to get Hamadryas, if frontier would include their red butt LOL

Anyways I'm hoping the upcoming dlc would be something we never saw coming and not what everyone thinks
Geladas are just a cool animal. Unique looking and part of a unique region of the world, they would be the best representation of the Ethiopian highlands.
They are not as common as Hamadryas but they still have 33 ZTL holders. They are way rarer in the Americas with, afaik, only two zoos housing them (Bronx and San Diego) and I don't recall any Asia, African and Oceaninan zoos.
They were also in zt2, and I love myself some zt2 animals in the game. It was also part of my original meta-wishlist submission when I first took part on it! So I've been waiting for them in a veeery long while.
Overall I think they fit a mountains pack way better than the Hamadryas baboon. I personally think they both fit different ways of exhibitry (Hamadryases being more of a city-zooish and sandy enclosure vibe while geladas being housed on grassy paddocks) and I'd actually welcome both geladas and "regular" baboons to the game with open arms.

No problem here as long as there are populations that actually live on mountains. Many people mistake any steep and rugged terrain for mountains, like cliffs or hills, or anything with "mountain" vibe.

As far as I know there are populations of baboons that live on Yemeni and Ethiopian mountains so that qualifies them.

I get they are cool animals, but I don't know i'm not sure if i want to see it instead of much more common zoo animal but yeah now i get why some of you wants it. at the same time probably every monkey/ bird we can get it's pleasure I guess

They are a mountain animals, so in conclusion I think I prefer to see them but of course everyone has their own priorities and I absolutely respect it

I mean they are just looking like old man or something lol and they are funny animals so in the end of the day whatever we gonna get I would be happy with everything

They look like Albert Einstein de-evolved 🤓

Ach there’s sometimes a technicality in each pack though!
• Red Eyed Tree Frog in South America, which happens to be a Central American species with a very minimal distribution in South America.
• Dingo in Australia, despite debate over its status as a descendant of introduced domestic dogs or as its own species.
• Ussuri Dhole in Southeast Asia, a subspecies of Dhole native to mainland Asia.
• Fallow Deer in Europe, which was introduced from Southwest Asia to Europe 9,000 years ago.
• Striped Hyena in Grasslands, because whilst it does have Grasslands presence, it is much more associated with deserts and arid regions.
• African Crested Porcupine in Arid, even though it avoids deserts and fully arid regions like the plague, and is more associated with grasslands and rocky hillsides.

I’m not saying the Muskox belongs unequivocally in a Mountains Pack. I think if we get a Tundra Pack, it should definitely come in that one over any kind of Highlands. BUT we shouldn’t rule it out as a contender - it lives in the mountains, that’s all that’s needed.
The dingo is a taxonomic mess but it is undeniably australian it was introduced into mainland australia as halfway stage between wolves and domestic does so it ends up with three different species names based on who you ask the game classifies it as a grey wolf subspecies. Whatever the case is the subspecies itself that developed is entirely endemic to australia so it is native just a weird case.
Anyone who says the tropical packs update wasnt in their top 5 also is just nuts.
First update in forever to add some meaningfull management AND null öaths AND no climbing toggle AND better brachiation
The management system was anything but meaningful all it does is make the social groups easier to see has almost no affect on anything. We are still restricted to what the zoopedia says just like before.
this screams animal pack to me. There are no new scenery pieces featured in this except the gift shop pieces, which should come in the free update. I’m sure we’ll get an animal pack.
I dont know the timing of livestream on monday the 4th is exactly what I predicted if it was a scenery pack releasing on the 12th.
So the description is "Ahh, what a beautiful day in Planet Zoo 🌞" with a sun, which is later once again said by PZ account in the replies with "Just a sunny day in Planet Zoo!👀"

What if it is not cold related after all. :ROFLMAO:
with both the posts caption and the reply being about the sun it means something the reply especially there is no purpose of it other than to be a hint.

Uhhh, we already have that in sandbox.
We have east to west movement not north to south
I'm not gonna read too much into the picture itself for clues to what the dlc theme is personally. A gift shop free update is hard to tie in to any one theme. Restaurants had nothing to do with the dlc that they came along with, I think some of you are getting a bit over your skis here.
I agree we have been campaigning gifts shops forever the only thing I can see it predicting is the likelihood of a scenery pack is highly.
Ok, so, speculation. How would gift shops work? Obviously they're different than the counters, so would they behave like restaurants and be a preset building you place, with different stands you out where guests can buy different merch? Or what?
giftshop.PNG

Its going to work like the restaurants you can see the generic wall texture used on staff buildings as the entrance also the new door everyones talking about is probably the preset for the building and may not be placeable
Time will tell, we can't see anything else other than the shelves so hard to say how it works. I'm thinking the shelves are purely scenery items which compliment the existing shop counters but it could easily be a gift shop building similar to the restaurant because of the presence of a large path grid.
Its going to be somewhat similar to restaurants.
Yes let’s do this
I’m hoping we will get some new hats variety’s . I find it odd when someone is wearing a rhino hat in a zoo that doesn’t have rhinos, therefore I can pick hats of animals I have in specific zoos.
I thought we could select which hats they sell

More mountiany the the hamadryas also zoo tycoon nostalgia
I don't recall any Asia, African and Oceaninan zoos.
I dont think either the gelda or hamadrayas are kept in oceania as far as I know.

That's not a generic wall texture, that's the opaque glass wall that can be placed wherever. We have little visual information on how the gift shops will work so we will just have to wait until next week before jumping to conclusions.
