Winter 2023 DLC Speculation

possibly but they didnt even say the words update 1.16 just talked about how giftshops were coming which seems weird especially when they mention the sloth bear carrying babies and that could easily be applied to some base game and pack animals which would be a significant change in a free update but never mentioned it in that context.
True, could be because they usually had one of the developers step in and explain it. Maybe they werent available ate the time for whatever reason?

The baby carrying thing would be pretty dope, but i guess it could just be something to hint at the bear and wasnt meant to tease a new behaviour. They also mentioned the wolverine scaling cliffs after all, which could also be a new behaviour if you look at it that way

Speaking of which, i think that would actually be pretty cool for animals like cats and stuff to be able to climb on rough surfaces like rocks and certain wall sets. But i guess that would also make it much harder to contain such animals

Edit: Well you could just use the climbing toggle option if you dont want to bother with that

If they added brachiation to orangutans, it would be expected to add chorus to lions. It is so specific for a zoo that the lions can be heard roaring together! It seems that Frontier forgot about this new feature and did not extend it. As the lion model will not be updated because it is the symbol image for the game, it would be a function that would bring interest to this animal again.
Is it just me or has anyone else noticed that the brown bear and the tiger are too fat, too chunky?

I’m hoping our exhibit animal is a cobra. Overall the pack really surprises me. In typical frontier fashion( not a bad thing) it’s neither a tundra or highlands pack. I believe Rudy Renkammel had a pretty good point in saying you wouldn’t see any groundbreaking content or new animations because of the long holiday break and problems that came with the aquatic pack. I do still wonder however if are takin is a wisent and just what other animals we’ll get.
Assuming you're right about this not being a Highlands pack, then this is likely a general Asiatic pack, and I'm with you in thinking cobra is on the table for the exhibit animal. Frontier likes to throw curveballs, so I'm thinking Indian Cobra instead of the more obvious King Cobra.

Could be.
Frontier revealed gigantoraptor as enormous predator with ability to chase down its prey, but in-game one cant even kill a goat.

I see I'm late to the party! Well, I'm super excited to think we may get a Takin! One of my most wanted animals :D
Also, I love the Sloth Bear. Sure, Spectacled would have been even better, but Sloth Bears are CUTE! And thinking of it, maybe they will add new animations to the anteater, some of the bears, and perhaps even apes, as they all usually carry their young on their backs.
I'm also pleased about the Wolverine! Saiga is a funny choice. I love them, but having them in a zoo will look a bit unusual. Anyway, they are pretty amazing animals, so YAY! So far, this DLC looks great to me; I can't wait to see the remaining animals.

What kind of design do you think they will go for with the Saiga Antelope?

Russian?

Mongolian?

I don't know which one I prefer, or do you think they might add variants in this update?

Yeah the brown bears are often called potatoes as they are way too overweight, not noticed it about the tiger too much as the male siberian tiger at my local zoo is rather large aswell.

I wouldn't agree. Europe has the red deer, fallow deer, badger, lynx, ibex, and then a few from North America, like the moose.
If you wanna stretch it, then the polar bear and reindeer are European, too. Aren't reindeer associated with Denmark? And I know that Iceland deals with the occasional polar bear
The reindeer model in the game is based on Svalbard reindeer. Svalbard, being the Norwegian archipelago, would make it a European reindeer, no?
It doesn't look similar to Caribou (several American subspecies), as most of them would be larger with more prominent antlers and contrasting colors.
European countries with reindeer include Finland, Sweden, and Norway. Denmark doesn't have any.
Svalbard also has a population of Polar bears :) But it's not mainland Europe, that's true. One could argue if it should count in this case.
My point is, that the reindeer model in the game looks more similar to the Eurasian reindeer subspecies than to the Caribou.

Maybe I'm just interpreting it differently, but the response here doesn't seem all that negative. Most people are sort of ok with the pack and have at least one animal they're excited about. As usual, most people have one animal they are a bit less than neutral towards
I agree. Many times when a user says something good and something bad in a message, most people tend to focus on the bad thing and ignore the good one.

For example, many of us are very happy for the wolverine and some of us have said that the bear was our less wanted species out of the three missing bears (but that doesn't mean we hate the sloth bear). However, reading the 30 new pages on the forum it seems people don't like the new pack when the truth is that many people are excited about getting one or two of the animals and also the gift shops.

OK. But on this forum there are only those who want to impose their own choices regarding the animals they want
Disagreeing with an opinion is not, at all, the same as trying to impose an opinion. No-one is trying to impose their opinion on you or anyone else they are just expressing their own opinions.

They Said it once that the Gift Shop will come with the upcoming Update 1.16.

There is a big difference between an animal not being your preference in a dlc (which I can absolutely respect) and spouting what is strongly coming off as willful ignorance about a taxon that does actually border on pop-sci YouTube channel levels. That is where I bring an issue here
If it calms you i know that its not a brown bear?
Like duh?
What i actually said is that it adds allmost as little to the game as a 3. Brown bear as all it is is a fuzzy middle stage between the sunbears unique attributes and the asiatic black bear general appearance.
I do not believe that the sloth bear has more value then the fact that its from india, something i to be honest do not value compared to a spec bear from the andes or the ABB that lives literally everywhere.
Im not a science denier, i actually educated myself on the sloth bear before slandering it and still i dont see what it brings what sun and moon bear dont.
And if it's just about being from india the black buck would have been >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> in how usefull it actually would be as the sloth bear is just another mid size carnivoran, a niche filled by caracal, striped hyena and dhole allready, meanwhile for ungulates india is dry as a desert.
I personally still value the uniqueness of the saiga over a generic ungulate for the sake of it, but when we compare two really not that unique animals ud defenetly would rather have a second but usefull antelope then fuzzy sunbear

I think the same could be said about the sun bear, both bears are relatively uncommon in captivity but oddly enough the sun bear is perceived as a suitable animal unlike the sloth bear.
Because both animals carnibalise each others niches.
Both are small, insectivorus bears from tropical asia but the sun bear not only came first, its also more unique.
Just look at then
They look wrong in a hideous yet goofy way.
Theres a reason they are often called to resemble people in bad bear costumes and are arguably of all bears the most distinct looking.
They are also the only bear species kept in oceania, which is another boon.
Boons that the sloth bear does not have and no being fuzzy and carrying babys on your back isnt a compareable boon
