Spring 2024 DLC Speculation

Alright, good point I should have been my detailed about what I envision as a larger finale pack - let's just say the average amount of scenery pieces set around one theme (150 -200 pieces) and any range of new animals between 8 to 20, mind you there will be exhibit animals taking up some of those slots.
If we get a full 20 animals I wouldn’t mind one last large final go at it. I just want it to be around what we would get in one years worth of animals.

Here’s a question, we all wonder what the new animals will be. But what about the new free updates? If we get any at all.

I can imagine some fixing to climbing, or maybe some last second changes to the exhibit or WTE.

Or absolute Hail Mary we get some new cool birds/ fully aquatic animals.
Animal personalities. Don't think that's very likely, but a girl can dream.

Also, reindeer as a walkthrough animal. You're killing me, frontier.

Here’s my question to you Mr. Free Update Meta Wishlist

Of your wishlist which ones are your favorites and would like to see the most?
Of the 350 something suggestions on the wishlist, my top 5 would be
  • Exhibit overhaul - Modular upgrade to the exhibit box allowing for multiple sized boxes for exhibit boxes from tiny insect exhibits to double sized iguana/anaconda exhibits.
  • Playgrounds - Interactive playground set using the existing spawning function
  • Carousels - Basically the planet coaster ride transferred over to planet zoo, one of the most obvious rides missed in the game
  • African Lion Rework - 1990's called they want their male lion textures back
  • Improved Climbing - Climbing that doesn't clip into everything, reworks the hitboxes of climbable materials so animals can visually climb a tree normally

These are all really good ones, I like climbing and exhibit box overhauls the most.

Free update will be flying mechanics for the flamingo, crane and peafowl.

And the Swan! I forgot about our newest non ratite/non penguin

Leading to false hope when nothing else ever comes of it

Not enough info to go on for me. Would this hypothetical larger pack include the same number of species (22 habitat + 4 exhibit) and a roughly equivalent amount of scenery (300-450 pieces plus animal signs) and the only difference is the theming (with scenery in this pack being more generic)? If so, then I would 100% prefer the bigger pack right now. Helps that most of the species I really want at this point are higher up on the meta wishlist too.

But if it's what folks have been speculating (8-12 habitat species + exhibit and a standard amount of scenery) then I'd prefer the 4 packs over the rest of the year, I guess. So long as I got assurance that they would be paying attention to the wishlist in a similar way that they have been (e.g., at least 1-2 animals from the top 5 make it into each pack).
Based on the previous finale DLCs (Mostly based on Return to Jurassic Park), it'd be about 50% higher price than normal, maybe 70% more content. Certainly not comparable to a year's worth of content, but still decent for a single update.

Well i do want th kudu and the Impala
At the end of support, the Frontier offers the Kudu or Impala, but no Patagonian Mara b/c no available slot for it.:devilish:
Its not that i hate carnivorans, its just that we have so many of them now that its hard for me to see much value in adding even more, especially this close to the (assumed) end.
Idk from my point of view every single carnivoran spot would be better off with something else, with a very select few exeptions.
As the DeLadysigner's PZ animal top 100 popularity vote reflects, Carnivorans are the most popular species in the game on average, 37 of 42 Carnivorans are being on the top 100 popularity list. If the Frontier did go through that list, they may offer more Carnivorans in the following DLCs to ensure the sales volume.

My preference for Carnivorans include:
  • Coati (Either South American or White-nosed is fine)
  • Sea Otter
  • Pallas Cat
  • Yellow-throated Marten
  • Walrus
  • Honey Badger
  • African Civet
  • Spectacled Bear
  • Bush Dog

I have a very on-off relations ship with PZ. I usual play it around when the DLCs come out and other random time frames dotted aorund the year.
Usually i get pretty inspired, play quite alot for like a couple weeks or a months, get burned out and put PZ aside for a bit.
Havent actively played since like november i think 😅
I have been suffering from severe burn out since twilight when I built a zoo with every base game animal + the first 3 dlc in the time between twilight and grasslands been slowly trying to get back into the game had some progress after oceania added the perfect map for my project but progress has been slow.
I do comeback every dlc release and run all my tests and fill out all my data sheets with the new animals.

Not saying they shouldnt add goodies for the cat and dog fans at all, i just wished they wouldnt neglect they rest of us so hard while doing it

I am not a “avid” bird fan

I AM A RABID BIRD FAN

100% delulu over here

It’s funny you guys know me as a bird guy, everyone else who knows me knows me as a whale guy. Just there is no point to talk about whales in a Planet ZOO forum.
honestly whales are more common in zoo games then flying birds so who knows we may get them first.

Yes, in Planet Marine Park /Planet Aquarium.

I know it would definitely not sit well with some people but I would be 100% happy with a separate marine/aquarium game from Frontier. Megaquarium is great but it just doesn't have the same atmosphere as Frontier's "Planet" line is building.

Im torn on this idea while I would love a dedicated aquarium game and the depth management and sizeable animal roster it would allow for, it inevitably wouldnt include many marine park staples like sealions or polar bears because thats planet zoos territory.

Personally id much prefer to have it in PZ even if this means its much less developed than as a standalone game.

Imagine, at some point there will be the possibility of combining the Planet games with each other. Do you want a carousel or a roller coaster in your zoo? No problem if you own Planet zoo and Planet Coaster. And instead of sequels, there are just new types of planet games: Planet Aquarium, Planet Museum, Planet Resorts, ...

Frankly, I'm open to things like rides, hotels, aquariums, etc. But only if they work smoothly when I use them both in a game. Anyone who has tried to build more than 30 habitats in the game and allow tourists to enter should know what I mean.
