Spring 2024 DLC Speculation

Also while on the topic of South America, do we think that because frontier has chosen the last 2 primates having brachiation that they'll make a third with the spider monkey? I'm stumbled on what is more probable, they improved the brachiating when we got the lar, they could improve it even more by adding the spider monkey, meanhwhile the Howler would need less movement work but a lot of sound design.

For me it depends on the format.
In an animal pack, 2 simpler monkeys like howler + squirrel or mantled guereza if we are not strictly speaking about a south american pack would be much appreciated, but if its a scenery pack the more complex spider monkey is much prefered.

Generally i think i made my opinion clear that at least to me a central america scenery pack would be vastly prefered compared to a latin america animal pack, especally if support continues to potentially give us the mara and rhea somewhere down the line

Also here is what I think could be a cool oddball for South America:

The Arrau turtle, also known as the South American River Turtle has a shell that is 3.5 feet long and it gets up to 200 pounds! I think it could make for a cool habitat animal, and be our first habitat turtle and second turtle species in the game.

Even in the AZA SAFE program turtles are one of the species being mentioned, so I think it would be cool to get another turtle in game.

It is a possibility yes. But also the gibbons have other thing going on with them both. The chorus behaviour and vocalizations. So i think both howler and spider are possible.

Also to further add onto the South America topic, if the final pack is a Central/ South America pack this would probably be how I do it:

  1. Monkey 1
  2. Monkey 2
  3. Patagonian Mara
  4. Greater Rhea
  5. Scarlet Ibis
  6. White faced whistling duck
  7. White nosed coati
  8. For the exhibit: either the basilisk/ mata mata/ blue poison dart frog, or we finally get macaws/ parrots in the WTE
Of course I’m assuming it will be 8 animals with scenery

That's a tough one. The way I look at the New World Primates right now, and 4 of the more possible inclusions.

Squirrel Monkey - least request of the four, but easiest of the four in design, very similar to the capuchian monkey
Howler Monkey - - most requested of the four, would be of mid-range difficulty to design, starting off with the proboscis monkey build and making adjustments from there.
Golden Lion Tamarin -- mid level requested of the four, would be of harder difficultly in design as I'd think it'd need a brand new rig based on its size.
Spider Monkey - - mid level requested of the four, would be the most difficult to design based on appendages used and other animation.

Howler Monkey seems like the most likely to be the one we'll get if we get one, but it would be great to get all four, honestly. And add in the Emperor Tamarin so that build is reused.

Going hard on carnivores are we? 😂
To be fair, the Coati is very much requested, the Ocelot is almost a sure inclusion given how much Frontier likes cats and how easy it would be to do, and the Spectacled Bear is also fairly requested, especially for a non-Amazonian South American species.

Yeah. The one i would replaced for something else is the Bush dog from that list. Probably with the mara.

I NEED MY SPIDEY MONKE. also, by guys

Same substitution for me to be honest. Canines are my favorite mammal group, but getting another non-Amazonian species that's from a less represented family would be great. I put the Mara below the bear and primates and Coati, but above the Brazilian Porcupine, so it's definitely one I want to make it in.

Well if the next pack is a regular pack then it will most likely be a scenery pack since the last pack was an animal pack.
I'm not so sure about that. The last pack was an animal pack, but the update brought a lot of building pieces with all the furniture and items from the shops, with the wallpaper pieces too. I think this would be a good moment for changing again the pattern and get an animal pack for Spring, especially if they add again building pieces to the update. Everything is possible and we shouldn't take anything for granted.

I've also been thinking that maybe, if Frontier wants to continue making DLCs but now they are busy with the consolie edition, we might get an "easy-to-make pack" now with many "clones" and save the complex animals for a future DLC when they have less things to port to console. For example, a pack with North America river otter, American black bear, wapiti, Caribbean flamingo and hellbender (plese before killing me remember that this is not a final DLC, but an easy to make one until they are done with the console launch). Those animals wouldn't require new animations or a lot of work, but are still famous animals common in zoos which would be nice to have (especially since console players won't get mods).

Im not against the idea on its own, although i think it lends itself better as an animal pack.
But i feel like were at a moment in time were PZ is in need of a banger pack

My ideal roster vs what i think is likely:

My roster:

1. Southamerican coati
2. Howler monkey
3. Patagonian mara
4. Greater rhea
5. Ocelot
6. Scarlet ibis / Brown pelican
7. Golden lion tamarin
8. Exhibit: green anaconda

Realistic expenctation:

1. Coati
2. Spider or howler
3. Ocelot
4. Spectacled bear
5. Greater rhea
6. Patagonian mara or some other oddball (Tamandua, Bush dog, vicuña, pudu) / maybe a second monkey like squirrel that would be more like a clone of the capuchin.
7. American flamingo
8. WTE: two toed sloth

SteamDB files for JWE2 have been updated so we can expect a trailer in about a week.
We’ll see if next week they’re also gonna update the files for PZ.
So soon? I actually thought the wait was gonna be a lot longer. Guess we will hear sooner than I thought!
