Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

DSSA is the sure bet, but i got curious and checked. Like in Norma Arm for example (here where i'm at the time), went to Inara, filtered carriers in the data panel: there're like a hundred of them around the center of the region, starting from mere 800 ly and then up to a couple of thousands ly from the center. Most of them allow docking and i bet nearly every one of them feature Cartographics and Vista. So that's a way as well. They might move while you crossing another thousand of ly however. Inara also lists services available and docking access limitations, so you can check in advance. Other sectors might be less populated too, but anyway, was surprised, thought to find less.

I think as of right now, I'm still too close to the bubble to find any DSSA carrier... Maybe, if I'm lucky, I'll stumble upon the carrier of another explorer, but even that doesn't seem to be very likely.

I recalled my ship and this is where it landed, my next trick is to get it to roll over. o_O

18 probes, that thing is a monster, is it a Gas Giant? You seriously need an engineered surface mapper.
You can engineer that??

Yes, if I remember it was a lone hot Jupiter surrounded by four stars, not that far from the Pencil area, the nearest Vista Genomics and Universal Cartographics spot I've found after my little trip to the Puppis sector B.

I was tracking a carrier via Inara, but their informations are a bit late, I should give a to that DSSA mapping you guys are talking about...

Well now I'm back to civilization, I'm planning to do what every gentleman would in such case: drink something strong at the station bar while listing anarchy settlements in the system. It's shopping time!

The DSS can be engineered to increase its scan radius by up to 50% or There is a pre-engineered one you can get from Tech Traders that has an even bigger increase.

And amongst all the, erm, impassioned debate about the Python MkII release, found myself wondering: will it be available in Colonia? After all, it's been nearly a month since the SCO FSD came out and still no sign of it here... ;)
That's my old hangout, there's a hazardous extraction site in that ring system that I loved to pillage and mop the floor with Brian's Thugs, great fun.

I don't know where I was reading about it many moons ago but I didn't realise how handy the K-warrant scanner could be in combat until I got the Krait II up and running. There does seem to be quite a significant increase in your potential bounty haul. It's just fiddly to mess with. First you're in analysis mode, then you're scanning for 63 years, then you're in combat mode and finally messing about with your fire groups. Fortunately though, most ships don't seem to immdeiately attack after interdiction. There's a couple that have made me nervous though as I watched my shields melt during a scan.

I also decided to ditch some cargo space so I could get a fighter hanger and try hiring a crewmember. I'm not sure if I did that last time. She's was just harmless and will only ever take 2% of my earnings so the cost isn't that big of a deal. I just feel like it improves the gameplay a little overall. Particularly if you're away from the bubble.
