Be honest everyone. Who will most likely purchase the Python MkII..?

Those whose morality is upset by the addition of early access and prebuilt into the store are in a complicated situation if they have unspent Arx more so if they actually purchased any of them. Actually whether they paid for the Arx doesn’t matter as FDev has that money.

Would it be right to spend them before these things become available or does the knowledge that they are coming make that unacceptable.

I have ~51K ARX right now. Most of that is purchased. Not because there was much of anything to spend it on, just to support FDev. That was before the current shenanigans began. Until they add cosmetics to the store I actually want to buy, it's likely to just sit there. I did hear they are making the normally seasonal skins available year round. I have the Midnights already so if the Stygians are any good I might buy them...

Now you're just being tedious Rat Catcher.
Indeed, it may appear that way to you - but I'm not suggesting something be excluded, for any reason, possibly because the more happy players there are the better?
I sympathise that anything I may do in the game will affect your game, but it is the way of multiplayer games, isn't it?

Some of the Stygians are superb ymmv.

Oh yes, they are, particularly on curved surfaces. And FDEV could also make loads of money if they rereleased the 2014 Chrome paintjobs in addition to the Chromed ones. In Odyssey those old ones are fantastic.

Yes I didn’t get any of the Chrome ones but I did manage to get a couple of the Gold ones which are much better than the Golden ones.

Yes I would definitely pay to get those again.

As per Buur's video, size 2-7 SCO's, but all class C still. So if Buur is correct, despite what's been seen in other streams with A- E class FSD's avaliable, you may not get A class which would be better than CG/V1 drives.

Clarification from FDEV needed.

Clarification is definitely needed. I saw with my own eyes that the new Python had an A-class SCO FSD. Can we buy or unlock those in-game for other ships?

Are these Python Mk2's for murder hobos?

  • fast and powerful
  • they've got an "I've won the interdiction" SCO drive
  • no rebuy means you can die as often as Captain Scarlet

I don't know if any of the above is true. I wasn't paying much attention to the details of the Python 2... But if it is, and Open ends up as a gankfest.. is there anything FDev could do about it? Could Frontier do any nerfing of buffing to balance the game?

If a ganker paid real world money intending to go on a ganking spree, and Frontier move the goalposts to prevent this, would the ganker be able to take Frontier to court, because they sold him a ship under false pretences?

It is intended as a viable alternative to the FDL, and thus it may have value to murder hobos. There's very little you can do about it, and, to do a little armchair psychology, the kind of ganker who would spend real world money to get a zero rebuy ship just to gank is usually the kind of ganker where rebuy doesn't matter, because they wake, or worse, combat log, on the first sign of resistance.

Also, the prebuilds are very unlikely to include a murder hobo build. So far they seem to be aimed at very basic beginner level. And if they outfit their zero rebuy to murder hobo level, it's not going to be zero rebuy anymore.

Any ship is, in the right hands, surely?
no rebuy means you can die as often as Captain Scarlet
Only on the pre-build, and only as long as it remains unmodified in loadout
But if it is, and Open ends up as a gankfest.. is there anything FDev could do about it?
Laugh out loud?

As long as they are still in posession of the ship they would not have a case, it isn't being sold as fit for a particular purpose, but is marketed as combat biased. (and is already nerfed)

  • fast and powerful
with slower turning, small distro, few internals...
  • "I've won the interdiction" SCO drive
no such thing exists. unless you are talking about gutamaya ships
  • no rebuy means you can die as often as Captain Scarlet
i can rebuy my vette all day without making any significant dent to my credits. and even if i reached 0 i can get a few cmdrs, play for a few hrs and do it again tomorrow.
at this point even fleet carriers could get a rebuy cost and it wouldnt be unmanageable.

If I buy it or do not buy it, what will it matter in the broad sense.
That answer won't build any consensus here nor will it ultimately effect the plans that are moving.

OP, no offense intended with my above reply but I am sincere.

Folks, the forum here have been inundated with direct and indirect topics on the P2, P2W, and so on ... (the latest bandwagon) and it's kinda peaked already hasn't it. The tubers have gotten their next video content out of the topic. Gotta get the views eh? Zzzzzzz!

Maybe that's just me but does anyone really truly expect any of this to actually change their game experience much?

To scrape a good message out of all of this, it certainly shows the Elite community is still passionate. To ground that message some, I'm not entirely convinced this passion is being well spent.

S!
