And this is exactly what companies are hoping for, and why gradually they are getting more and more anti-consumer. This is not a good long term outlook.
Point of interest here. This is exactly what the suits at Frontier are banking on, our apathy. Kinda similar to how authoritarian governments hope people do not bother or dare to oppose their regime. It takes effort to protest, even if it is as small of an effort as having the self-control to vote with your dollar or joining a forum to make a post.
Also for people pointing to inflation, it is a poor excuse to justify these insane price hikes. 10-20% reflecting actual inflation/projection sure, but over 200% reaches arbitrary greed territory. While it is true companies dealing in digital goods are feeling inflation in terms of staff raises, cost of electricity and so on, their digital products already made are unaffected. Many argue cosmetics were already overpriced for what you were getting, due to being generally low quality or overly simple and unimaginative. Fdev are probably aware they could generate more revenue effectively in other ways using minimal effort while still adhering to a moral compass, but why bother with that when the majority of players are fine with being sheeple consumers?
What really gets me though is that, even from a purely business, profit praising, all consuming capitalist mindset, I cannot see how devaluing the in game currency will actually lead to more profit over just increasing the price of the game currency packages. Taking into account factors like whales, fomo & saving psychology related to earning ARX in game, and making customers feel extra salty it just doesn't make sense in the long run.
