Planet Zoo 2 Speculation and ideas

Ngl the confetti is lowkey the thing i hate the most in this game. You want to place an animal in a specific spot to take a screenshot, but by the time the confetti is gone the animal already ran off
Oh yeah, hope we could turn the confetti on or off 🤣

I'm kind of surprised they stuck with the cartoony guests to be honest, I would prefer to see slightly more realistic guests in PZ2. Not that it really matters, it's just a preference.
This immediately stood out to me too. It’s almost immersion breaking to see these cartoon characters up alongside increasingly lifelike animals. I imagine this is less of an issue for Coaster, so hopefully it’s prioritized a bit more for Zoo 2.

I think Planet Zoo has a lot of good things going for it and aside from the areas that everyone wants in terms of mechanics (better pathing, scalable items which Coaster 2 is already implementing) and animals (birds, exhibit rework, aquatics although that’s a lower priority for me personally) what I would love to see is better hitbox and climbing mechanics, particularly for smaller animals. I saw northern treeshrews for the first time last week and have been obsessed with them ever since. A way to zoom in a bit further and better fine tune traversable area for animals of that size would be a dream come true. Treeshrews, squirrels, tamarins, lorises, bushbabies, hyraxes even though they aren’t arboreal in the same sense even though they’re certainly climbers. The more small mammals the better.

I mean, if you happen to purchase a subspecies hybrid, try not to release into the wild otherwise your zoo lose credit or something, a bit more realism with irl zoos. I think a good example would be that of tigers and lions.
I thought of this idea cuz if Frontiers made the Planco people looked a slight more detailed in PC2, why not the animals😂
But then you'd have to make hybrid animals as well, and that's only going to make things really complicated... look at big cats for example; almost all are a species/subspecies of Panthera... are they really going to lump them all into one animal?

I’d greatly prefer to keep PZ going as long as possible
1. I would want all animals to rejoin the roster and would be irritated repaying for dlcs that I had paid for.
2. Aviaries: big ones that function like habitats for raptors or large flying birds and smaller ones for small birds functioning like exhibits.
3. Redo the exhibits: make micro exhibits for the animals that seriously don’t the current exhibit size. Larger exhibits that can house small mammals and reptiles that would not be suitable for our current size, examples slow loris, kangaroo shrew, anaconda, dwarf caimans.
4. Paths: re work them what else do I have to say
5. Fix emoloyees: make patrol paths for security guards. Make a security room where guards can watch cameras to increase their range. Fix guided tours so they aren’t happening too frequently and the educators don’t get overworked. Have keepers address habitats that are cleanliness risk instead of rushing to feed them then clean. If employers get stuck and quit, you have the ability to make them disappear instead of them remaking in the same place unable to be movedNot sure why frontier won’t address those issues. Also give employees a golf cart track.
6. Tank exhibits: I will support freshwater species like electric eels, alligator gar, piranha etc. I want to keep it simple as opposed to going full aquarium as I would prefer the hypothetical planet aquarium to include sharks etc.
7. Guest control: I don’t want them all running to the petting zoo and flooding it.
8. Ambient sounds: we speculated that they help with animal stress, CMs confirmed it doesn’t, this time let’s make it real.
9. Rides: frontier has never addressed if guests “look all directions” while riding rides to view animals. Let’s them move around on the monorail or gondola.

Yeah, you're right... it'd be a nightmare to manage on Franchise 😔😔

Planet Zoo 2 can be the unofficial Planet Aquarium, the way JWE2 had both aviaries and lagoons.

Looking at how PC2 added a long-requested feature in water rides, I think it's a given that PZ2 is going to include at the very least aviaries, and very likely some manner of aquatic animals.

I don't think we'll see the likes of whales and dolphins, but manatees, fish, possibly turtles, these seem more possible.
Also PC2 has scalability to objects. I wish we could get that in PZ2. Another feature I would like is making wildlife parks.

That’s pretty much my take as well, I don’t think we will see any cetaceans due to the controversy, but a lot of other aquatic creatures should be on the table.

A lot of zoos I have been to have either a handful of fish tanks, or some of the larger zoos may even just have full on aquariums/ very large fish tanks. Off the top of my head is the Columbus Zoo (and Aquarium) as well as the National Zoo having a massive tank for Amazon fish such as arapaima.

Also the bird thing, I got to be honest if they can’t figure it out by an inevitable sequel I may not get the sequel. Bird houses are such a massive part of zoos and zoo collections. I don’t even care if the “aviaries” are glorified exhibits/ WTE, having a zoo game without any parrots is so silly. Basically pull a JWE2, give us flying animals and aquatic animals. That way even if they have to “resell” animals we will overall have more to play with.

Actually let me just add a couple more things I want in the sequel:
  1. Fix the weather and time system: it barely snows in places it should, and seasons last only a couple minutes. My zoo shouldn’t be 200 years old after a couple hours! This can also help implement other features better…..
  2. My next big thing is I want more community management: decorate the zoo for certain seasons, develop certain sales, make zoo memberships a thing. Make your zoo feel more like a real zoo. Likewise give us a summer camp or classroom please and thank you.
  3. Be able to make your zoo have its own “newsletter”. This you can share online with friends, it basically updates what you do to your zoo in real time. If you add new habitats, get new baby animals, create new restaurants, or see what your zoo does for conservation. Speaking of conservation……
I’m gonna make this its own sections, and I want conservation to be more important and active in the sequel. Each choice you make for conservation will have its own difficulties, and it’s own costs and benefits.
  1. You can send keepers or veterinarians “into the field” which can help aid certain animals in the wild. The negative of this is that you will lose some key staff and have to plan accordingly.
  2. You can directly engage in breeding efforts like SSPs. You may receive certain males and females, and likewise have to send your animals to other zoos as well. Unlike the trade center these animals don’t cost anything, and is done in game with “autogenerated” animals.
  3. Your zoo can get engaged with release programs. The benefit is directly boosting the animal population in the wild. The downside is it is pretty much a 100% loss and won’t make you get money back. Guests cannot see the animals you are trying to release, whether it is some endangered insects, frogs, birds, hoof-stock, or big cats. Likewise you will have to have specially trained staff, on top of a whole facility, to get these animals back into being rewilded.
  4. Likewise, on a more local level, you can have a wildlife hospital. From injured seals, turtles, moose, kangaroos, and more your zoo can receive wild animals depending on where you are. Likewise, your zoo may directly get shipments of animals confiscated from the illegal pet trade, or pets that were improperly cared for.
  5. Finally, with enough money, your zoo can flat out buy some protected habitats.
To counteract this pure “financial loss” your zoo can receive grants and money from members can directly go into your conservation efforts. Also, these conservation efforts will be another way to make conservation credits.

So following the awesome announcement of PC2, let's discuss PZ2. Here are soem questions:
  1. What do you think will be in PZ2?
  2. What will be the key new features?
  3. How much of the current roster will transfer to the sequel?
  4. What are your hopes?
  5. What do you hope not to see in a sequel?
  6. What feature from what's announced in PC2 will you want in PZ2?
  7. What do you think will be the base roster of the sequel? And how many species?
  1. Better management details (at least on hard mode) and hopefully a bit slower time...
  2. Animals have their own personalities. :)
  3. Pretty much all of it. With a few exceptions: such as Perentie instead of AWM OR Linne's Two-toed Sloth instead of Three-toed.
  4. I hope for model variations that could kind of represent different subspecies or even breeds of livestock. That way people wouldn't complain about clones such as arctic wolves and dingoes...
  5. A smaller roster.
  6. Birds
  7. I have no idea... I'm thinking it might actually be less than PZ... How many rides are in PC2 vs base game PC1 should be a good indication of how big our roster would be (assuming we even get a PZ2)
And another question, what do you think should be the base roster of the sequel?
I'm hoping it is at the minimum similar to PZ1.
The more small mammals the better.
Agreed!

1: A new pathing system is a must.
2: Aviaries have to be a launch feature.
3: Hopefully 100% of them, like with Jurassic World Evolution 2.
4: Just a more diverse animal roster in general.
5: Too much of a focus on hoofstock, give us more small mammals!
6: Item scaling and being able to build with other players at the same time.
7: Ideally all of the animals from the first game, DLCs included, as well as around a dozen new species, more if we get aviaries.

Not sure how I would feel for paying again for animals that were already in PZ1, especially if they take years to come. Can you imagine waiting for the dromedary or the leopard again?

Imagine starting the roster with only the Japanese macaque and mandrill as your only “true monkeys”. Likewise imagine the bird roster only starting with the flamingo, peacock, and ostrich.
