DLC18 discussion and predictions

Basically the same issues as the Arid pack. The only way it would prevent me from feeling the same will be the rest of the roster. The baboon + cat isn’t too far off from porcupine + cat. So then it just depends on if we get some bird(s) or habitat reptiles or not.

Knowing that South America and Latin America could be mega screwed over for us to return to Asia after just one pack in between would drive me a bit crazy.

I’m not gonna count on it being an Asian pack until I see it.
Man, a "highlands" pack masquerading as "secret" Asia Part 2 pack would straight-up kill my enthusiasm for this one. The picks would all be fine but, particularly if this is the final pack, that would be such a disappointing way to go out considering everything left on the table.
Honestly this pack so far feels like a "fix" or "patch" to the Arid and Eurasia packs. Markhor, Palla's cat and baboon were all obvious omissions from those packs. There was no place for the markhor un Eurasia after they pick the takin and saiga and the sloth bear and wolverine took the carnivore cards. But both the cat and markhor were something we were all kind of expecting for Eurasia, along with the blackbuck (not counting birds). Same with the baboon for África and Arid. This so far feels like Eurasia part 2.

Yeah, and maybe if we are lucky we can get some sort of “Americas” or “Latin America” pack down the line. I just think it’s crazy how much SA is being avoided. Obviously it’s important to have stuff for a sequel (say flying birds and aquatics) but to limit SA and habitat birds seems silly and just hurts this current game.

Maybe this won’t be the last dlc, or maybe we are all wrong and it’s bigger than we think.

Well, I warned you I'd make this face if there was no news today, so I'm a-gonna do it:

But hopefully within the next few days we will all be making this face:

i want habitat giant salamanders for the sole reason of being able to actually build something interesting for them, rather having to shoe horn in the exhibit somewhere in a build which is just kinda boring.
And yeah they would be way to active compared to real life, but the activity level is way to high for pretty much every animal in planet zoo so i dont see why that suddenly a dealbreaker for the salamander. If the crocodilians and monitors are anything to go by you would easily be able to get the stuck somewhere using pieces if you dont want them to move around, well i sandbox atleast.

Hayo zookeepers. We're pleased to announce the Arid-Eurasia Repair Pack! Featuring animals that should've been included in both packs instead of the oddballs we added. Enjoy

Oddballs? You mean Wisent and Mute Swan right? The two least voted for animals in the Eurasia pack, yes?
Of course. The wolverine was a stupid option too. Totally unwanted, and I have no idea why they'd add it in the 1st place
(This is sarcasm, by the way. The wolverine was wanted)

The wisent was indeed an oddball for me. Like i was hoping they didn't have them in their radar for the DLCs but being a British company i also knew it was just a matter of time that they would put them in the game.

The swan wasn't an oddball though. Maybe the mute swan in particular had few votes in the Meta wishlist but swans in general (or waterfowls rather) were very requested at the time.

Sigh... I was joking/commenting on the concept of "oddball" animals. Many will argue the Wisent and Mute Swan are essentials, yet they have the least votes... on the other hand, many would argue the Wolverine and Saiga are oddballs, yet they had the most votes of all Eurasian animals at the time. It makes the concept off oddball choices... a bit debatable.

Just to be clear, while i really wish they would give us something anything to us south americans, i'm pretty pleased with the animals they picked so far for this pack. And since are all good choices i'm even more suspicious that this is a collection pack.
Generally speaking, I actually like the idea of a "fixer" pack that brings in additional animals from past packs. Maybe not all past packs but ones with obvious, glaring omissions... Particularly South America/Tropical and Oceania. Both for obvious reasons. Haha. And my perspective on the pack fully hinges on the rest of the roster despite appreciating to loving all three of the species we know about thus far.

But I kinda hate the idea of it being a Eurasia Part 2 pack when there's other options for theming on the table. So I'm keeping my fingers firmly crossed for something that's more of a "collection"-style pack!

Absolutely wishful thinking, but normally we get 4 dlc a year. Maybe if we are lucky barnyard + this upcoming pack is half a year, and we have “the other half” coming next year?

Absolutely wishful thinking, but it would be nice.
As of now, I'm assuming this will be the final DLC. I'm happy to be wrong here, of course! And TBH, if this winds up being an "Old World" pack I will immediately revert my perspective and assume we're getting this one now and a "New World" pack at some point.

Ignoring South America to the extent that they have is really kinda wild. Especially with the high-profile options on the table. And I kinda don't think they'd be holding out on those for a sequel. There's no reason to. Because the driver (e.g., birds, aquariums or whatever) would be the selling point in a sequel. Not necessarily like, howler monkeys and an ocelot. Haha.

Also: It hit me today. I'm going to call the tag line for PZ2 right now. "Planet Zoo 2: Let your creativity take flight!"

The selling point of the sequel will be the new features and improved mechanics (and visuals). All that we have seen from PC2 and probably aquariums and maybe aviaries. South American animals aren't that big of a drive for sales to that be the reason to leave them all for a sequel. IDK why they have ignored this continent in particular (well not completly ignored it, we have got capybara, yacare, armadillo, giant otter, peccary, sloth and maned wolf over the years after the SA pack but scattered acrossed several DLCS spaning at least 3 years time while ignoring the claim for more NWM and SA birds in particular). Plus adding the rhea for anniversary (any anniversary) could've done so much for the SA roster in the base game as well and it is kind of an easy clone (plus a very common animal in zoos). So i really don't know what their retionale is behind it.

I'm also in for a "collection" pack that fixes the glaring omissions from previous packs (tree roo, baboon, markhor, coati, NWM, secretary), but because of the dictionary leak i really don't expect that the animals that are yet to be revealed will be those. The dictionary leaks kind of ruined the excitement for me, because so far they have been proven to be true and if the remaining aniimals are dik dik and sifaka, well, while yes i like them individually kinda kills my hopes for the coati, rhea, mara, howler, ibis or whatever other SA i was hoping for would show up in the very last DLC.
