1. All animals and themes from PZ1 return
  2. All the new QoL features from PC2 (new paths, foliage brush, that amazing lighting system)
  3. Fixing old hitbox issues and add the ability to remove hitboxes from items
  4. Revamp the older animals to bring them up to standard
  5. New animal personalities and better herding behaviours
  6. Complete revamp of exhibits (honestly you could restart the exhibit roster from scratch...), make them a modular system which can be linked together... Maybe 1x1x1 blocks as the smallest? But honestly I'd be happy to see even smaller than that. Make it so exhibit animals have space requirements, breeding etc, ability to mix species and such and more customisation with the additional objects. Also ability to remove the walls and ceiling and some different shapes from just squares like triangles, circles, semi-circles etc.
  7. Flying birds: Larger birds (1m wingspan or more) would be habitat animals that need to be in a covered space (maybe an aviary building system similar to the paths and pools in PC2?) and could fly using certain enrichment items from different points but would otherwise have full interactability. Make smaller birds exhibit animals which allow them to remain fluttery and exhibit more natural looking behaviours even if its loops.
  8. Fully aquatic species: Fish and other small animals would be in a new version of exhibits which are basically just aquariums, allow for many mixed species and also tunnels. Larger marine animals (sea turtles, cetaceans, manatees, sharks, rays and other larger fish) would be habitat animals in a pool or tank system reminiscent of ZT2. Allow for some fish exhibits to be placed in the ground as ponds potentially?
  9. Improve the guest and staff AI
  10. Co-op multiplayer! It would be really fun to build a zoo together.
  11. Generated zoo maps similar to Zoo Tycoon 2
  12. Seasons, this would make management a lot more fun.
  13. More special events for Challenge/Franchise mode to make management more interesting.
  14. Custom map skirts
  15. Multiple habitat gates per habitat please!!
  16. Animal shows! This would be particularly great for flying birds or marine mammals, and would be a sort of stealth way to add "free flight" to some of the larger birds while keeping them as mostly functional habitat species.
  17. Eggs for birds, reptiles and the platypus - Incubation and such would make management more interesting and different.
  18. Allow us to fully customise animal stats in sandbox mode.
  19. All terrain textures on every map.
  20. More education features and tours for guests.
  21. Make the iguanas habitat animals please!
I might think of more later or just +1 other people's. This is just what I came up with for now.

Here's my own suggestions although I don't think I need to go into too much detail as I'll be inputting all the data anyway:

  1. Playgrounds and splash pads for guests
  2. Carousel rides
  3. Exhibit box overhaul especially regarding modular customisation
  4. Habitat iguanas
  5. Major animal addition to house a variety of flying animals
  6. Fully aquatic animal mechanics
  7. All known pc2 features such as path improvements, scaling, lighting, foliage brush
  8. More fonts and art shapes , especially smaller ones
  9. Base game custom signs similar to the Australia pack wooden signs
  10. Horizontal stained wood walls
  11. More windows and doors, make them see-through
  12. Elevated null paths
  13. One way paths
  14. Improve interior lighting so I don't need 50+ spotlights to have a bright interior
  15. Nocturnal building panels to block out light
  16. Disable guest models for franchise users to improve performance
  17. Disable path snapping for benches and bins
  18. More realistic zoo props
  19. Vehicle props
  20. Transport rides that look like actual transport rides , use the planet coaster models it isn't that hard
  21. Staff vehicle for quick access to remote parts of the zoo
  22. Increased emphasis on zoo backstages
  23. Import my air conditioning props please or at least offer something better than a single low resolution wall unit
  24. Rework animal and rock hitboxes
  25. Let us choose terrain paints on map creation
  26. New map backgrounds, especially an urban city background
  27. Optional tunnel or road spawner connection for parking lots
  28. More vehicle spawners like the European bus or boat
  29. Tall trees, we need really tall trees like the California palm tree
  30. Animal shows for both exhibit and habitat animals (safe ones of course)
  31. Increased amount of animal enrichment, including new and worn looks of them
  32. Big bouncy ball enrichment
  33. Coop multiplayer , even the pc2 method of coop is better than sharing a file over discord
  34. Herding behaviours
  35. Ungulates eat grass and progressively turn the grass into mud (destroys performance but would be so cool)
  36. Weather that actually affects your zoo more than unhappy guests
  37. Guests dress for the weather
  38. Random events and disasters
  39. Zoo association memberships that hold rare animals behind conservation requirements
  40. Improved zoo management but don't turn it into a micromanagement simulator
  41. Turn the trade center into an administration building
  42. Expand on the walkthrough exhibit allowing multiple species inside - bats, butterflies, sloths, lizards etc

Let me divide my ideas per category.

Animals:
  • Improved traversability (remove the requirement where an animal needs to fit through an opening sideways).
  • New behaviour: Tail-hanging for spider monkeys.
  • New behaviour: Herding.
  • New behaviour: Grazing.
  • Introduce a system where sloths can be habitat species.
  • No need for 2m or 4m depth for deep-diving of small animals.
  • Koalas and giant pandas should be the highest rating.
  • Emus should be a walkthrough species.
  • Allow exhibit species of the same biome to be kept together.
  • Animals have different tolerance for water salinity (see terrain).

  • Flying animals: These species can be added to any aviary in your zoo. Aviaries function like exhibits. They can be made either free-form (like Planet Coaster pools) or modular (like Planet Zoo gift shops). There are some default nets/fences, but you can also build your own with construction pieces. Unlike for exhibits, aviaries do need a keeper gate.
  • Aquatic animals: These species can be added to any water body in your zoo. Water bodies can either be terrain features or tanks. Tanks function like exhibits. They can be made either free-form (like Planet Coaster pools) or modular (like Planet Zoo gift shops). All tanks have a default glass wall. Neither water bodies, nor tanks need a keeper gate.

Habitat:
  • Add invisible food/water bowls.
  • Reduce terrain obstruction for habitat items.
  • Add firehoses as climbing items.
  • Add massive pumpkins as an enrichment item for sun bears and apes.
  • Dynamic items: ropes/fire hoses/nets with no set length. Instead, attach two or four ends of the item to certain points in the habitat and have the game work out the size and stiffness of the item.

Barriers:
  • Have a barrier item for each construction wall texture.
  • Allow multiple habitat gates.
  • Have an option to tilt barriers in- or outward of the habitat.
  • Underwater tunnels are an in-game feature.
  • Allow barriers directly at the path's edge.
  • Add a barrier with a faux/natural rock texture.

Facilities:
  • Add pools and playgrounds.
  • Standard facility 'boxes' like toilets do not need to be 4m high.
  • Allow the Jeep transport ride track to be invisible.
  • Allow boxless exhibits.
  • Allow freeform exhibits (similar to Planet Coaster pools).
  • Add smaller exhibit boxes (1x1x1 for invertebrates, 2x2x2 for amphibians). This is still too large, but a big improvement.
  • Remove the trade center. Allow us to purchase animals directly into habitats like in ZT2.
  • Make signs, donation boxes etc. less cartoonish and smaller.

Construction:
  • Add triangular (equilateral and rectangular triangle) versions of each wall panel.
  • Remove non-flexicolour duplicates of flexicolour items (i.e. unpainted bamboo, wooden plank wall).
  • Add semi-transparent panels to upload our own pictures on the texture of construction items.
  • Dynamic items: doors actually open when guests go through them.
  • Add null signs, like in Planet Coaster.
  • Add items that fully block out light from outside for nocturnal houses.
  • For construction pieces, focus on generic zoo items and basic facilities (air-conditioning, fire extinguishers etc.).
  • For themed items, include non-animal statues such as the Mythology pieces in Planet Coaster.
  • Add items generally found in zoo museums/displays, incl. eggs, taxodermies, fossils, life-size animal replicas.

Nature:
  • Add a foliage/rock brush like in Planet Coaster.
  • Add flexicolour natural rocks.
  • Add common tropical plants incl. traveller's tree, bird-of-paradise, tembusu tree.

Paths:
  • Introduce the same path system as in Planet Coaster.
  • Add at leats one flexicolour option for all paths.
  • Allow using different path railings and kerbs for each path.
  • 2m and 3m guest paths are an in-game feature.
  • Add invisible elevated paths.

Terrain:
  • Add a function where barriers can be used to separate different terrain heights.
  • Waterfalls are an in-game terrain feature, like in ZT2.
  • Add a salinity slider for water bodies.

UI/QOL:
  • Add a zoo map like in ZT2.
  • Add an invisibility toggle to temporarily make items of each category (i.e. paths, barriers, foliage, construction items) invisible, like in ZT2.
  • Add an option to mirror items or selections of items.
  • Add an option to scale items, like in Planet Coaster.
  • Add a shortkey for toggling random rotation on and off.
  • Add a shortkey for rotating along the world axis.
  • Add a 'pick colour' function to the colour menu (i.e. when changing the colour of a selection, you can click on another item and it will take that colour).

Other:
  • Include guests with disabilities.
  • Add seasonality dynamics: weather changes throughout the year, some animals change their appearance, guests dress for the weather.
  • Ambient animals. I believe this is a thing in Planet Coaster. We should really have it too. I'd love to see some squirrels, ducks or lizards running around and birds flying over. Preferably guests would react to it as well. Ideally, ambient species are dependent on the location of your zoo, and I guess in some cases they can be species that we already have in the game, such as water monitors and swans. It will just make the zoo feel so much more alive.

I often see a feature mentioned such as random events. I'm not too sure how this would work in Sandbox, but I guess it could be fun in different modes. However, as someone studying disaster, I wouldn't really call these events random. If implemented, it would be great if these events depend on the landscape and also your layout of the zoo (i.e. floods will affect mostly lower areas, and are not too extreme if you have sufficient retention bodies and foliage).

I want a better subspecies selector so I can for instance select lion as a filter then from there select a subspecies or leave it random. This will ideally help reduce the issues with people getting mad at new subspecies taking animal slots since it will be one animal with essentially skin variants.
Yes i want this as well. We have to push the want for this feature. Not that pushing for desiring animals did anything for birds and primates anyway.

+1

this and also an auto generated zoo map including key animals and buildings with a couple different styles you could choose from
Custom map skirts

+1 to all the quoted.

Aquariums and aquatic animals

Can come in two types

one similar to our current exhibit types but with more customization of size and layout (probably should be universal for all exhibits in the sequel, maybe have a mini exhibit editor?) and that will be for small schools of fish/ crustaceans that would get lost in larger “habitat” tanks

Second type is the huge habitat style tank for animal like manatees, whale sharks, sharks, some cetaceans like belugas, sea turtles, and larger fish like marlins. These should be fully customizable and have a filtration system where you control more parameters: ph, salinity, temperature. These “habitat” tanks should work similar to the current barrier system with a little bit of zoo tycoon 2’s tank system as well, with a new tank entrance for keepers and everything. Current animals like: pinnipeds and penguins can also be housed in them as long as land is provided. This should all work like zoo tycoon 2 where if you wanted to connect a tank to a regular habitat you could as well and it’s seamless.

Aviaries

I agree aviaries should work as regular habitats but the game either gives you an option for a covering or uses the same way it track down shelter shade to realize a habitat is covered by scenery. Preferably both options. WEs can be kept and expanded for smaller birds like budgies. Full blown aviaries are for bigger flying birds and arboreal animals.

Animal behavior rehaul

Animals should have added behaviors that make them feel more alive. Nursing mammals with their babies, animals carrying their babies, animals stalking/ vocalizing at animals in adjacent habitats, animals herding in large sprawled out habitats to create more realistic looking herbivore savannahs or plains habitats. Animal social structure being more realistic per animal, wolves running in packs and have a strict pecking order for example, if habitats are big enough animals carve out territories just like jwe2. A lot of these features were in zt2 I’d like them to be modernized and put in pz2.

-Reworking exhibits: In their current form they just go against what PZ is about. Being able do build everything as big, small or beautiful as you want.
-Making the game more "Small animal friendly": Planet Zoo is very biased towards large animals, both in the animal roster aswell as the system, pieces and enrichment items. So i really would like more small climbing pieces, smaller enrichtment items and so on
-Option to turn off the hitbox of building pieces: Its really annoying how much space some items take away from the traversable area. This would allow to have animals go through doors that are not obnoxiously oversized aswell as more interesting and realistic habitat design without the animals being unable to take a single step.

  • Egg-laying for birds, other reptiles, and platypuses
  • Toggle for rocks to count towards rock terrain (I think I was the only person who liked this feature when it was first added)
+1 to all quoted

Here's my ideas:

Roof's and Floors: Adding a roof and floor of a chosen barrier material to a habitat. Roofs and floors can be added to any section of barrier, and raised or lowered as needed. You can use floors to make habitats that go over paths an easier process. Roofs are necessary for free-flying bird species, and can function as shelter. You can create barrier "pillars" in roofs to raise them or lower them just as you would a barrier section.

Guest Tunnels and Animal tunnels: A selectable option in the barriers tab, attaching these to a barrier piece brings you to a coaster-builder type menu, where you can customize a tunnel that goes through a habitat (in the case of guest tunnels) or outside a habitat (in the case of animal tunnels). A guest tunnel in an aquatic tank creates a shark tunnel. Customizable size.

I have begun to start collecting all the votes to organise them into the tables, I just want to let everyone know that all known planet coaster 2 features such as improved pathing, lighting etc will not be present on the tables. This is simply because we can expect these features to be in a planet zoo sequel anyway.

If anyone thinks we will need voice our opinion over these new features, let me know and I will make a general pc2 features suggestion and tally up all votes for that.

I know others have mentioned events for franchise my “better active and alive challenges” is basically akin to events anyway so if you want to merge these that is good for me

I only got 2
Make custom fences
In the same vain as PC2, where you can build on Rollar Coaster and what not I that you should be able to make your own fence segment, first you pick the length you want the fence and then you start to add scenery to it, finally you just place it down, now you can't change ita length, for example if you make a custom 4 meter fence then you can stretch it to make it a 8 meter fence but instead you would have to place the fences next to each other, this could help make habitats easier to build while looking better, as well as stuff like buildings, you can also attach other fences to to, like the glass and null barrier, so you can create viewing windows for your habitats, among other things, of course you could still use null fences for custom barriers but this gives you another option.

The second one it to make terrain count as a barrier, so if you want to attach to fence to a mountain you can with the hassle of stuff like null fences, the only requirement is the the terrain is at length or higher then the fence.

I want animals that don't run all the time. Specially the ones that are not supposed to do it. Is SO annoying.
I bet this was the main reason why sloths weren't habitat animals, they just ran everywhere just so they wouldn't starve to death. I could imagine it is a larger problem with how the needs system works for habitat animals, a much larger rework around that could address both problems.

Bring all animals up to 2023 standard
Exhibit overhaul, different sizes and shapes of exhibits for different species, more control over design
Herding/Grouping behaviour
Horn/Tusk variety
Zebra on equine rig
climbing for monitors
Overhauled climbing
Animal personalities
Hitboxes improved
Keepers can wade through water so you can make island habitats

Here's my own suggestions although I don't think I need to go into too much detail as I'll be inputting all the data anyway:

I'll use your list for this. The ones not stated here means I'm not in desperate need for them.

And a last ones from me:
35. Slow down pace of time.
36. Fix the climbing system or at least provide feedback on how to set up working custom climbing frames
37. In relation with the above: give us more REALISTIC climbing frames blueprints with different materials.
