So I chased the pirates again to open space out in the middle of nowhere between Rakkaia the system next to it and followed them to this. An unmarked Hauler attached to a device and dragging a spacestation with it . I couldn't get any closer to it. They warned me to leave and I got attacked. I fled and it moved away. I haven't a damn clue where it went cause it left zero emissions to trace. Scans showed it as being register as ?????? it was also moving within the instance so it was hard to follow it and keep up. staying still would have it leave me behind. This was what I could take before the pirates could destroy me and the data I was collecting and before everything jumped. It seems to be travelling near and in empire space. If i find it again I am def going to risk getting killed to take more photos. Ships were also docking and undocking with it as it moved. All pirates near it and wingmaning with it were all ?'s I couldn't tell you what faction they are part of or with or anything just question marks. If anyone else comes across it do not wear headphones observing near it. Almost blew out my ear drums its so damn loud.

- are you playing in current 'Odyssey' version of the game?
- what actual system were you in? ( your screenshot is cut-off at the bottom cockpit )
- which "instance" do you mean exactly? Like , a debris field or whatever? Or do you mean like a space POI 'megaship' type situation? ( re: mercenary content )
- when you say "left zero emissions" , do you mean like when it hyperjumped away it left no WAKE to target?
"loud" how exactly? Like, radio signal sounds? or the engines? or pirate voice chatter?
Also, how come you didn't just engage the pirate ships? Is it because you were in AX weapons outfitted ship?
I believe this is the second time someone had a sighting of this thing. I recall this exact same artifact being posted a short while ago around somewhere, but for the life of me I cannot remember where exactly.
Well, while we're off-topic discussing various unusual things, I encountered a very strange bug yesterday afternoon in what is supposed to be an anarchy system.
Running Odyssey surface missions; got one to repower a settlement owned by faction A, then got an update message that scavengers were on their way there with bonus to destroy them. Arrived & did so, however apparently there were non-scavengers there too so got penalty bounty for murder as well as reward bounty for killing criminals. Repowered settlement, claimed mission reward, waited till notoriety had reached zero then paid off 2,000Cr penalty bounty at an Interstellar Factor in a nearby system....
Then got a package delivery mission back in the original system to a station owned by faction B, went there & got landing permission so started to land. Almost on the ground when got a message saying fined for entering a restricted zone AND a bounty of 6,000Cr by faction A (who did not own this station). So landed outside and delivered the package on foot. Then went to pay off the new strange bounty -didn't exist anywhere!!!
Is this the End of Days??? Do I urgently need to get a large bottle of Lavian brandy and some chocolate biscuits in?

Megaship POI: As stated It looked like this ?????? - There's your make type and model. The game gave me no info. You be the judge of that.
Yes: It left no wakes to target. I was being attacked after being warned to leave the area and it jumped shortly after. All attacking ships vanished with it as if bound to the POI. All ships had the same question marks. No info Given. Only visual of what was infront of me.
Loud: like being by a Jet engine irl combined with a noise I can't describe combined with a very loud humming and a shepards ton of some kind of noise. It's hard to describe the noise but it hurt my ears. NPC's had normal near a station chatter combined with flight docking request and takeoff procedures. Maintence calls ect. The other NPC chatter was about their attack formations since I was the target.
Mining Extraction Equipment: I had Mining weapons used for extracting chunks off rocks and other things. I had nothing to defend myself at the time.

What did you do once there to follow pirates, do you just find the first wanted ship and follow it or is there more to it

"??????" might have been a string delivered in another language and the client was unable to display the characters.
I have not seen a "??????".
But recently I had an Odyssee crashed ship POI that was just an empty string (or all spaces) in my language, meaning: Left hand panel shows the usual POIs on the surface of a moon, but 1 POI name was just an empty string (or all spaces). Of course I was very interested in that POI - but it was just a crashed ship with Odyssee mats.

Went to Rakkaia & HIP 7687, nothing interesting found. Will examine more later.
So far I've not had any joy following pirates in this system so decided to check out the belt clusters. Nothing observed for the A A or B A clusters but when I got to the C A belt cluster I was distracted by the T Tauri star. Probably a graphics / engine quirk but what started off looking as solar flares then showed hexagonal shapes. I've only started looking at these now but my ship did start to heat up and then dropped due to proximity

Its just a megaship nothing special there's more than one, all named and class hauler variants not sure what Rayedog is talking about iv found them all this one is the Hercules class bulk cargo ship and doesn't even enter that system, wild goose chase me thinks

The piracy system in this game is pretty extensive (which a lot of people don't realize if all you do is exploration and such). Them having a mobile base of sorts would not surprise me.
I decided to stop by those becaons. I'm in Artemis now. Honestly, this is exactly the sort of system that matches up to what Drakkster story was: it's a named system (which I assume is what he meant by "system had normal name"), and it has a named gas giant - Agrotera - ~4k LS out - that is relatively rare, there aren't THAT many named gas giants. The gas giant is VERY large - 4.2k EM. Without any other details, if anyone asked me where Drakkster had their encounter, I'd say right there.
It currently has an East India Company megaship called "The Legacy" stationed in it, which is dockable. Besides EIC, there are only typical in-system factions there.
The becaon is around an asteroid base (becaon is "Freeholm Victory", the base is "Freeholm").
That being said, it's a populated system, MedSec, people have carriers there. You can probably spend your entire career there and not run into anything special.

There's a lot of it atm, hence why i headed North (way North) to avoid the temptation to head off on side quests with no real credibility.

Yes, but not many named gas giants. Also, don't know where suddenly "multiple suns" came from. Don't recall that from the original story.
