Sounds familiar... I've tried all other ships and always come back.I love my Couriers, have done for years.
So really happy to be flying a big version, apart from the fact that mine appears to be stuck in treacle most of the time... It may be peanut butter from the toast, I suppose...
Jumping in the Corsair, and trying to find have fun in the CG, with the occaisional engineering trip for class 3 weapons, I realised a few things.
- I never needed to learn FA OFF with the Courier, but the Corsair might be the ship to do it in. Its way less twitchy and toggling FA is already making a massive difference.
- The vertical thrust is really impressive. I got to 293m/s.
- You can repeatedly boost on just 2pips (wth a G5 Charge Enhanced Super Conduit Distributor)
- The canyons around Broo's Muang engineer site are a lot of fun in the Corsair. I haven't clipped a wall or floor yet while trying to hold 50m off the floor. The vertical thrusters give you a rapid correction while the nose is still turning to correct.
- 3 large rapid fire pulses, a pair of MCs and a packhound chew through CZs, and given how quickly you can take out shields and drives when an engineered CZ ship shows you its tail, then a low Mass lock is not going to be a factor. Shields and drives are going to melt on traders.
- You can scoop and not exceed 60% heat (G5 Armoured Power Plant). You can jump and scoop and as long as you are accelarating out of the sun (any straight trajectory) you don't overheat.
- I'm out of practice at CZs. Normally I can solo a medium in my Courier, couldn't do it before the Corsair dropped. Did it first time I tried in the Corsair.
- While enhanced class 5/6/7 drives would get you to the speeds we thought the Corsair was going to get (at least I did), the drop in turn speed would probably not be worth it. You really need the pitch at least.
