Thrustmaster T.flight Hotas x.... I think I got all those words in the right order? lol I bought mine about a year ago when I went through a flight sim phase and it just happened to mesh nicely with the ps3. Fast forward and I find out about this game and dig it out of the closet and it works dang near perfectly. I think I paid 40 USD for it off of amazon? Give or take 10 bucks. Either way, for an entry level flight stick AND throttle (that can be attached to the stick or set apart, mine straddles my keyboard) it can't be beat in my humble opinion.

The t.flight hotas x is on Amazon for 48 USD.

I did not realise you could detatch the throttle on the thrustmaster HOTAS, that may just tip the scales in its favour

you may have been doing it already with your cyborg.... but a keyboard + joystick combo works really well

I favour it for those awkward moments when ASTRA (Voice Attack) goes ?????? when I most need her in combat or docking !!!!!!!!!!!

I like the Logitech extreme 3D pro. It is farely decent and is very cheap. All I can say is that it has worked well for me. The throttle makes a funny noise like a crackle when you put it at about 3/4. Hopefully thats nothing important.

It's just a shame the sellers are exploiting the demand right now.

The Thrustmaster joystick should be around £30 but they've marked it right up just now.

I'm personally using an Xbox 360 controller until this silly business is over and the prices return to normal.

Bought a Thrustmaster T.Flight HOTAS X for £35 yesterday, arrived this morning.
The thrust can indeed be separated from the joystick and the cable connecting them is roughly half a meter, so it's plenty to put each on the sides of my keyboard.

Together with Crab's setup (sig) with minor modifications, I'm having a blast.
Can highly recommend it.

After I've gotten some food (it's freaking 9pm already! forgot to eat.. again), I'm gonna venture back into my usual Anarchy hunting ground, instead of the fed RES I am using as training grounds ;)

We'll see if the Clipper and Python's will completely destroy me or I'll manage with a HOTAS setup.

Combat Questions Regarding Joystick Dead Zones

Hi Guys

I have pretty much been trading since launch and although I enjoy it I have a hankering for a bit of combat.

I have hit the combat tutorials and I stink!!

Now I understand that you need to practice practice practice and I have no issues with that but I seem to have a recurring problem around the touch and feel on my HOTAS.

I am using a Thrustmaster T Flight.

I have dead zones set to, what I presume is zero ie the slider on the dead zones settings are all full over to the left.

I can generally float around keeping my target in front of me but as soon as I try to zero in on the target to start firing at them I find the control super sensitive and am always over compensating.

Is this a 'dead zone' issue on my controller ie should I be messing with those settings to make aim easier or is it just a matter of getting used to it??

Yours in hope

Spraxy

If there is a utility for your joystick you want to adjust the control curves so that it has less authority near the dead zone and full authority at full deflection. I'm not sure there is anything you can do in game or in the basic joystick settings. Adjusting the dead zone will make you have to correct more although playing with it might help a little if it's way too sensitive.

I just looked it up and there is a pdf manual for your joystick. The configuration utility will allow you to adjust the curve. basically instead of a straight line you want it so the area around your dead zone is around 10 to 15% less sensitive than it is at full deflection.

Unless you are playing in the rift and using the keyboard is very difficult :(

Hmm, the only thing that I don't do with my T.Flight X is doing stuff on the galaxy map, I tried it but keyboard + mouse is just much faster and better for that purpose. But I think it wouldn't be a problem to do that with Oculus Rift, only if they'd release the final model a bit faster...

I appreciate that Kingston. I think this is a bit more complicated though as it directly involves xHCL in the BIOS. I wasn't thrilled with the idea of downgrading all my USB 3.0 ports to 2.0 so went with the separate PCI card instead.

Use FA off to line up then FA on to fine tune (purists will hate me for saying it but switching between modes will probably get you better results).

For many years, I used to use a Microsoft Sidewinder Precision Pro.

Now, I spied a Saitek X52 Pro that's coming out for sale at my store. It's MINE! :)
