Thanks Doc" Winnard replied, "I'll finally be able to ride my bike again."

Excellent T.j - love the drabble. Poor Winnard ;)

Well, that's a good number of drabbles in so far... how far I hear you ask... well only Winnard will be able to tell us that because this is all about "What I found in Winnard's Hole"
- and before you say it, no it wasn't a medical grade Asp Explorer!

If we get the magic 20 this evening I will insert the poll, and if not we'll all roll-over and begin our probing examination of each others drabbles tomorrow.

OK, firing in a super bonus DocStone drabble (just because I can) and this one, believe it or not, has no filth, innuendo or even the slightest hint of a pun anywhere to be found.

Insomnia

I try not to sleep, but then they come, with their white coats and their concerned faces and minds that just cannot understand, and they talk and they reassure and they poke and they jab, and no matter how much I fight, blackness eventually carries me away.

The memories lie dormant, like the seeds of the Sacred Lotus, dark and still within the depths of my subconscious just waiting for the tender touch of my dreams to burst into life once more.

The screams, oh god the screams.

Please, don’t let me revisit the horrors we found in Winnard’s Hole…….

Hey, thats rich. You were the first one to enter Winnards hole almost immediately after he presented it to us, as if you had been waiting for the opportunity.

It was important to get in quickly because I didn't want to, er, come last.

I've won something? Is it a weekend in Winnard's Hole? Hmm. I'll have to take a listen.

...

Thanks very much guys.

Congratulations Twisted. I take it that it was the poem that won and not the Drabble about how "Lave" sounds a bit like toilet? I'm downloading the MP3 as I type so that I can find out for sure.

I thought Lavee poop trader was high art. But yes, you're right. It turns out that sonnets are about 100 words. Thanks very much to Michael Brookes for a) picking it and b) doing a nice reading.

Congratulations Twisted on a beautiful Drabble. Really exquisite, even, dare I say, sublime in some areas. I found it had nascent overtones of some of the earlier works of Swinburne, Graves or possibly Binyon (pre "For the Fallen" obviously).

I look forward to listening to Michael's reading on my homeward journey this evening. I do hope he does justice to the " ..poop trader.. " line.

I wouldn't have described it as a sonnet myself, but who am I to judge such brilliance.

Congratulations again on your win.

You can hear how much he enjoyed your poem by the relish in his voice as he read it out.

Congratulations, Twisted...

Now, with much apprehension and fear of ridicule by my drabbling peers, I attempt to make an entry for Winnard's Hole. I say ridicule, because I have attempted to not write a naughty one, like what the most of you reprobates did - and, believe me, it wasn't easy! The result is, I feel, worthy of an essay written by a schoolboy, but that's about it. If I get one vote for it I'll be both surprised and happy - happily surprised and surprisingly happy.

YADA (Yet Another Device Acronymic)

The boffins had designed a device for miners, to aid with exploration for new sources of ore. The designs were complete, the various components and systems ready. It was time for final construction and testing of the wireless, intelligent navigation and automatic robot device.

"Attach robotics to propulsion chassis."
"Completed."

"Plug intelligence and navigation systems to automatic robot frame."
"Done."

"Mount wireless receiver and test reception."
"Done, and working."

"Start system test."

"Intelligence and Navigation systems booted. Automatic propulsion and Robotics optimal."

"The wireless, intelligent, navigating, automatic robot device is complete and fully functional?"

"That is correct sir. WINNARD's whole."

Darkoba, I don't know how you managed it, but your drabble free from innuendo, toilet humour and any references to nether regions, is to be commended.

I'm not so sure MrMogadon...

Good for you Darkoba! I too have taken the moral high ground and written my Drabble without even the slightest hint of ty talk or innuendo. I'm sure both of our Drabbles will do well in the poll. The fact these polls are anonymous means that the voters can let their more noble aspects of their character shine. We may even end up sharing a joint win.

If our noble drabbling colleagues can, indeed, allow their thoughts to rise from the toilet to aspiring heights of shining morality, we may, indeed, share a joint win. If we do, do you want to choose the topic "Flying" or "Pigs"? I don't mind which; I'll choose the other one :)
