The server is going to get too much requests anyway.
So better have the bulk spreading out as much as possible. And that's just not during working days.
Also they would want us to be ready when their working week begins, not asking the obvious etc.

Given that we already know that FD use P2P technology for other aspects of the game I would imagine we'll see a torrent release with some high speed seeds to speed things up. Other companies use this very successfully and obviously it avoids the need for high capacity servers to host the downloads (In exactly the same way that Apple and Microsoft don't do it and their servers struggle on a release day).
Its bound to be small with all the procedural stuff. Surely they can have a tiny program that procedurally generates the rest of the code and data
As the alpha's they will be testing parts, I guess they will start relatively small and get bigger. Nearer release I can see it being multiple GBs. I'd guess the 1st alpha will be under 1gb.
I'll plump for midday 9th December.
