maybe it is the spore explosion that will be the next stage, think of the infected off limits moon, maybe these things will start the plague where ever you take them and they release the spores.

A biological weapon.

That looks a lot like a suspended animation container if I were an alien. Also to me the sounds sound like either a distress call or a homing beacon of some kind.

Do we believe this to be alien in origin? If so why should it be coded in any form we would be able to understand? Look at the emission of the object, what if the message is part audio and part pheromone, for example. Maybe it's not meant to be decoded, just "oooh"ed at while we speculate over what happens next and when.

(But please, carry on trying, I'm watching with much interest.)

I've thought that myself. Was Michael just saying have you listened to it (because it sounds cool), or was there more meaning behind his comments.

Now today quite a few UA's pop up when for days we saw none... Imagine the mass disappointment if this hunt had been left to go on for another month just to find out everyone was searching for an object that has no other meaning except its cool audio! :(

I am hearing the following pattern (L = low, H = high, X = honk):

LHLHHLXH
LLHLHXH
HLLHHLXH
LHHLLHXH

Translated to decimal (dropping the XH at the end each time, as I infer this as EOL) this either gives:
010110 - 22
00101 - 5
100110 - 38
011001 - 25

or

101001 - 41
11010 - 26
011001 - 25
100110 - 38
Hmm, but what if the XH is to raise the value to a power? The most reasonable seems to be a power of 2, so that gives either:
484, 25, 1444, 625
or:
1681, 676, 625, 1444

The problem is that these are four references, and our coordinates are three....hmmm.
The magnitude of these numbers feels "right" for the coordinate system though.

I noticed when I first saw it, it lights up and dims every once and a while, and every time it lights up is when you hear the "fog horn" type sound.

I personally think it's one of their organic FSDs, notice the distortions around it.

If I convert to morse, only taking L as dot and H as dash makes any sense, giving the following:
. - . - - . = CA or NP
. . - . - = LT or DN
- . . - - . = UW or AP
. - - . . - = GD or NX

This doesn't seem useful yet...

I think we should also do little-endian but that seems to lead to even more meaningless numbers.

here's the earlier video with the 'spore' explosion, check at 2:22, love the finders reaction :D

Random thought - if you dock at a station with that thing on board, does the station (or owning faction) get an "Outbreak" state? What if you sell it on black market - does it cause an outbreak then?

Okay so it looks like some sort of cocoon and it's dying and screaming when in space. Maybe it's sending out a distress call so someone could pick it up. Maybe you really should take it somewhere closer to it's system so it's parents could hear it and come after it! :D

Random thought - remember that Galnet article recently about an Imperial senator building up a ship with shields/jumpdrive after visiting Fed leaders in Sol? Might be she got clued in on the whole thargoid situation - seeing as how apparently Feds have these things...

I had similar thoughts.

I think wishblends the daddy ;)

Some members of Alliance in FFE built a FSD to warp to Thargoid dimension. FFE canon story line also reported Thargoid and humans shared technology. Thargoids used organic engines. That UA's looks organic and living.
Also maybe the 2nd hoax vid was a clue to it's contents.

Sorry for the multitude of posts...just thinking aloud...

If I AM going to "drop" one of the set of numbers because I only need three, then I'd drop the second one, because it only has 5 digits instead of 6...so that seems like the odd one out...

That leaves me with either:
484, 1444, 625
or:
1681, 625, 1444

Anyone up for exploring?

The sound is multiple period you can see here :

Capture.PNG

The period of each 'code' is around 1minute and when it's over it start again. I don't know if this can help.
