A little funny question about storage: How do you go about that?

I mean, you cant change ships with something in the hold and you cant really do much else WITH the UA in the hold since you have to keep a sharp eye on degradation.

So, how do you store it? Or do you simply cease all other activities?

You can either just park or do low-risk things. I tend to use courier missions & system scans to keep income flowing enough to meet with the repairs. And I usually won't risk being in Open (but only because of griefers).

Yeah, they changed the name of a random station to Leonard Nimoy station in honor of his death (in the patch notes) showing it in the trailer was likely just a nod to it. The trailer is to show off as many things as possible in a short time frame... I'm hesitant to think we should commit a UA to the theory. Selling it elsewhere though, for a better reason, would be interesting.

It wasn't random. LHS 3006's only planet was called "Vulcan". It was the most apt place to put such a station, hence the rename.

It's worth noting that Claire de Lune is another example of in-game sound asset reuse (it's what the docking computer plays). Maybe the UA learned it from listening to some lazy Fed T-9 pilot shuttling it into stations? :D

I thought the Docking Computer played "On The Beautiful Blue Danube"...

[EDIT] Ninja'd!

Ah well there you go.

Off topic, but since you have done so much science can I start calling you Professor Oak? You have caught more UA than any one else ;)

I'm old enough and ugly to have been wrong many times in my life and this being a game (and not work or marriage or thinking that box is strong enough for the china) is no safeguard against a repeat performance but I would be.... hmm... how to put this? Non-plussed, to be polite. I would be non-plussed should the resolution of so broadly-spun an in-game mystery as this rest upon access to a system which is the epitome of exclusivity. Some have access to it because they are Founders (fair play to them all) and others through more graft than I've yet put in (fair play to them all) but, so far as I know at this point, neither of the current UA Custodibearammanders have either means of access. ...

I was a Kickstarter backer & have access to Shinrarta. I've been there with & noticed nothing different or new. Would be happy to go back & do a recording if others want.

There's just no stopping this commander, is there? He one crazy motherbearer. Twice-over success in 'liberating' a UA, zooming from one side of the Bubble and back and again, swatting aside things to be discounted like balloons at a balloon-makers trade fair...

There should be a decal for this kind of mad-on service to the community, not to downplay the other similarly treasured efforts of other bearers. Yes, respectfully, in case somebody 'upstairs' is reading...

There should be a decal for this.

IMO, RatKing deserves the best decal. Keeping a UA safe for this long is an achievement in its own right. Thought I wouldn't say no to a little UA decal I could put on my ship. :D

And I'm not that crazy. All of it's been done in private groups, where the biggest dangers are 1) myself, 2) easily avoided NPC interdictions, 3) myself & 4) scooping too hot from a star. Plus we know we can find more UAs if needed (all the recent sightings, etc.)

Has anyone looked at the dates, perhaps the convoys run on specific dates. More than once sightings have come in quick succession on the same day....like the finding of the first one. (Apologies if someone's thrown this one out there already I cant recall.)

I found mine on July 05, 2015 @ 11:38 PM CDT & July 19, 2015 @ 3:20 AM CDT.

Just "slightly" off topic.

FD should be knocking out UA skins for Asps and DBs with UA decals but much more important UA cockpit decoration, but MOST importantly A UA plush for your desk.

Questions that have been asked before and I think should be asked again, hypothesised and tested -

1.a. Why does it transmit morse? Morse is human; this does not look human.
b. Why does it transmit the human designated name of the nearest star?
c. Why is the morse weird? Why not ordinary morse? Because it’s alien and getting it a bit wrong? Something else?
d. What other signals are there? Are we missing any because they are not human and we don’t recognise them? Have we found them all but are failing to decode them? There are reams of raw data out there that haven’t been analysed conclusively. And, things have changed - we need new data.

2.a. Why does it explode? Not supposed to be in vacuum? Something else?
b. Why is the explosion glitches with that space rip? Don’t see these glitches elsewhere - are they glitches at all, or supposed to be that way? I know there was work that looked like the shape of the rip was a shadow of the object. Again, why? The footage of those glitches from different angles is interesting because it looks as though the rip happens some distance from the object, and on a certain angle to it. What if we placed a pilot there?
c, What is it ejecting when it explodes?

3. When can we have some cake?

Let's science!

mrTree.... remember.... THE ORCA!!!!!!! :D
Let's stick to the "listen to it" thread!

*reminder*

Is there a system at coordinates: X = 1.342, Y = 4 and Z = 0?

Nope, kinda in-between Sol & Alpha Centauri:

Just a hunch? Or is there Pi somewhere in the signal?
Maybe it's worth trying other combinations of Pi as coordinates - here's the google spinout for more accurate number 3.14159265359
I'll get on it too soon when I'm in game.

There's altogether too much comedy gold in the last couple of hours to call out and rep... Plus, I think I've run out.

But thanks for an enjoyable few mins as I've caught up.

There's no way it's only open to founders, FD wouldn't do that.

Beyond that, I got nothing more at the moment.

And I'm watching Big Hero 6 with my son at the moment, so brain is otherwise engaged ;)

This may or may not be of any use, but here goes.
I'm out exploring in my ASP, I am not far out around 500LYS or so.
I noticed a strong signal source out in SYNUEFAI CY-F D12-74.
"That's ok" I thought, "I brought my A class this time and guns too", what could go wrong?

So in I go to find one of those "things" yall seem to be playing with.
Nothing else around at all so I pop my scoop to bring it home.
We it turned out to be a bad move, go figure.
I noticed my shields going like it was Christmas, turns out it was two Anacondas and a T9.
I didn't have time to check the others, needless to say I shut my scoop and ran.
Shields went in about 20 seconds, so I was boosting like mad.
My shields came back on line, so I turned around to go get the "thingy", which was gone.

I'm coming home to fix my boat, then I'm going back out again.

Hope this helps in some way.

Are you sure it were Unknown Artefacts? I've seen plenty of strong signals sources far away from any stations. There are other, similar objects there to be found.
