UA Mystery thread 4 - The Canonn

It would probably be useful to narrow down the economy of those systems that are requesting meta-alloys. I have a feeling that you'd be more likely to find that request from High-Tech and Industrial systems than say... agriculture but I could be wrong. Perhaps this should be one of the key parameters to take note of when looking for the mission.
Yeah I had a look and if the first person i spoke to did find them in Sowiio then that is an Agricultural system, but he wasn't sure if that was the place.
I would tend to agree with you though, the other locations people have said they've found them have all been High-Tech or Industrial systems, so it's likely zombieapocalypse just got the wrong place since he wasn't sure about it.
I'd need to gather up more information, I may start a thread about it.

I had originally posted on another thread about myself and my brother picking up this mission in LHS-215 but it turns out my brother has the mission twice he picked up the other at Baker's Prospect in Asellus Prime (not sure if spelling is correct lol) any info on finding these would be appreciated even though the mission is a 6d long timer to it.

thanks for your response! Asellus Primus is another High-Tech world, so this is further adding to the likelyhood that that's the place to find them, all I can suggest at the moment is to record where you have been looking for them, I have made a post over here: https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=217293&p=3316379#post3316379 trying to compile information about them. Hopefully with multiple people working on it the likelihood of discovery increases. Of course there's no pressure, if it gets boring i can't blame ya for stopping, I imagine the chance of discovery is pretty low since no one appears to have found them yet.

1 shelter per UA?

hm, dont know how these evacuation shelters work.. how much shelter do you get from 1t cargo?
From its description, i would assume that 1t evacuation shelter is for 1 human. So how many people will work at this outpost? A few hundreds, maybe thousand, but millions? The whole population in Maia is 25000, and thats on the Obsidian station.
So maybe they could also be used as some sort of arrival point for the Thargoid infantry, you put an UA in it and some time later a Thargoid will pop out ;)

But, although i would like the idea of a CG used as a trap and later on being used against us, i guess its more like, well, thats how CGs work, just deliver as much of a commodity as you can.

I still have a sneaky suspicion that the meta-alloys are something you mine in space.

You might not need Horizons to collect it, although it'd be nice if someone (hello out there!) could confirm that. Surface outcrops so far only produce materials, which we can't sell, and the only stuff on the surface of planets that goes into cargo is dropped/salvaged containers or mined chunks liberated from structures.

Or we find those weird glowing structures on planets and blow chunks off them and they get scooped up into cargo too?

Firstly thanks for this, have some rep.

Secondly, could this mean that using the same type of size of cone that we could extrapolate from SS1's last known heading and narrow down the list of systems to be searched?

Maybe - with the 78Usae - Azaleach - Saga triangle centering on the area 75ly from Azaleach ..... and looking at Salvageable wrecks (since they seem to be where to look - and weren't around during last search )

We might find another debris field ...

Then why does it say you need to be on a planet to find them?

Oops. I must have missed that. Where does it say you need to be on a planet?

on this mission description :)

Someone on reddit went there and found nothing. Someone else found a fully crashed ship somewhere though.

https://www.reddit.com/r/EliteDangerous/comments/3xxa91/sol_herald/

Can confirm. It's a crashed Anaconda. As per the reddit comment, it's marked as an outpost (and is persistent through instances). So it's unique in that it's a persistent, unmarked point of interest. It's not particularily interesting beyond that. Perhaps it's a test of technology. Can also report we had A LOT of crashes when traveling/searching, usually shared with other people in the vicinity (so something that's instance-wide, with some level of distance cutoff).

Nothing points to it being related to UA.

Heads up CRG, looks like we have a possibility of pilots taking UA's the the systems/stations that give out the LRS missions in order to shut them down.

We are become death

Nothing to do with us. We do science, the military will do military things with the results

Found a medical convoy in SYNUEFAI IS-G B16-2.... Now in the California nebula. (won 't be playing for some time, fois gras, buche de noel and Chapon need looking after).
