Oh no.

We all understand the excuse completely, we're just in awe that you can't grasp that the consequences of your actions are the things you're complaining about.

If you want more people in Open then how about when you see a noob you say hi and ask them if they're enjoying it - just a wild crazy suggestion. There are plenty of NPC pirates who do play by pirate rules and even NPC greifers but not sitting outside spaceports that noobs spawn from - play the game, don't abuse it then complain about the result of your abuse. That's like asking why your dog is cowering in the corner after giving it a kicking. It's not complicated

You're trying to force your ''ways'' of playing the game, we don't share or enjoy that. You talk about consquences yet you don't even understand why we kill people. Why should I bother explaining myself to somebody who think we abuse new players is beyond me.

Basically - if you are in a group - your leader tells you what to do. Single point of failure.

Then clearly you don't know anything about SDC and you just make assumptions. At least you understand that all we want is to have fun.

I'm actually quite curious as to why you guys feel the need to kill noobs.
It's happened to me a few times, and the only reasoning that I can think of is "easy targets" but as I said before I'm not against people doing that, even if it's a move.

Food for thought: What will upset me more?

100 players quit who loved and played in Open?

20,000 players quit who NEVER played open so I never saw them anyway but who were constantly allowed to troll my experience anyway?

I'm not going to miss 20,000 people who quit. Not when they don't play in Open and not when I have to constantly play in fear of them deciding to troll my experience via the BGS.

Make it Open play for all.
Merge the platforms.
Let them quit.

I'll always care more about the people who actually want to play with me than I will about people who apparently despise the rest of us already.

If FD did that, I smell class-action suit due to misrepresentation.

But that is purely hypothetical, as it will not happen. But your point is made "frigg 20,000 people who paid for the game, as long as my buddies and I have fun". That is exactly the type of personality that I do not wish to interact with.

Oh I LOLed.

Clearly you don't know much about anything outside SDC. I assume nothing - I just have a good laugh at it all. As soon as SDC attempt to force me into gameplay is when I will have even more lulz.

It's all just a game after all.

I couldn't care less if your girlfriend rides with SDC members, I'm too busy blowing other cmdrs.

also nobody seem to know you in SDC just saying.

If I had to guess, the only place to find players in any significant numbers (outside of CGs) are in the starter systems. I imagine that their primary targets are probably the more experienced vigilantes that also congregate in the starter systems. Maybe they throw in a few newbies just to set the stage and prompt a response from various white hat groups that rush in at the first hint of "pirates."

Just a guess though. I'm only going off the regular invites I get from vigilante types. I prefer to stay neutral though, so I have yet to get blooded in Eravate etc.

SDC has an anarchic hierarchy with no real leadership. Everyone does what they want. Me personally: I'll never shoot a newbie. Quite the opposite in fact: https://imgur.com/a/6iSHf

A large chunk of players in my friends list are newbies that I've helped out in the game. I found a group of four newbies and got them going in a good mining system, getting them enough credits go go exploring together.
Another newbie wanted to learn about combat, so I took him and his viper out to Kremainn and helped him take down condas and other big ships.
There was this one newbie that wanted to get into PvP straight away, so I got him into a DBS and started teaching him tactics and loadouts.

The stereotype that "all SDC members spend all their time ganking newbies, traders, and explorers" is simply fear-mongering.

Play the game. Enjoy the game. Respect the players.

This may sound strange, but killing other players can be a form of respect. I'm sure that if they really thought they were hurting other players, they wouldn't do it. But maybe they actually respect their toughness more than you do.

When I was a newb and got killed by better players, my response was to get angry, dust myself off and learn from my mistakes. As a direct result of being killed, I studied and learned so much about escape techniques, speed jumping, evasive maneuvers, etc. Now the game is a much richer experience. So thank you jerky FDL camping above the slot in Lembava. My ED is much better now because you were a jerk to a noob like me once. ;) :D

Nothing strange about that at all. Killing other players seems to be what many Elite players consider to be the only acceptable form of interaction.

Respect is never demanded. It is only ever earned.

Something's wrong with the forum right now? I could rep myself but no option to edit my post?

Anyway, just wanted to add that in the case of SDC my stance is a bit different, that's not our common griefers. They don't show any respect for anyone and some of their actions are so unbelievably borderline with a mind set of poor destruction. I would ban them, no game needs such ...ahem "players".

with that kind of mind set you deserve a ban, see what I just did.

I always prefered the term "spoilers". They seem to have no other goal and take joy from no other enterprise than to spoil whatever anyone else might want to do, and their only real cleverness is in finding new and interesting ways to justifytheir actions and claim legality within the "letter of the law" whilst patently working against the "spirit of the law".

True, I tried to earn it for The Code, but judging from the reaction it wasn't good enough both sides of the fence...

To resign or not to resign, that is the question...

You will never please everyone, and if you are trying to act a as a bridge you will often alienate people on both sides. I think you at least tried to do a good job, and that's all anyone can ever ask for. (although the epic lenght compositions were a trial to read). :D

Well, yea, I mean, what I do in real life tells me that every day, I thought I get to escape that pragmatism on the internet but I guess that's just my quixotic self going out of control @_@.

And lol, trust me, I'm so used to writing for academics, writing leisurely for a game is a treat. Length wise... well, let's just say I realized why every philosopher/theorist tend to be so verbose...

None of which would have happened if Mobius wouldnt have accepted players that have their name plastered all over ED for PK'ing

Fixed that for you!

...being played by real people with real feelings who are affected by real world tragedies. Grow some empathy.

SDC gets death threats, getting called PoS's, no lifes, worthless, sorry asses, children, degenerates, socio / psycopaths.

Where's our empathy? :S

wise words, i used to think i could stand out as an individual and people wouldnt judge people based on groups, but in reality people do that, it sucks people seeing people say all muslims are terrorists. And i tried to make a case where i am SDC but i dont gank noobs or invade private groups but people still judge the whole picture, it's just easier that way.

It's a tough road to lead, thinking 1 person can make a real difference but honestly it doesnt seem that way, had to accept it for what it was and move on. This is the type of treatment i get for rolling with my crew so be it. I was really soft, but over time, and seeing the same insults over and over and over again, they no longer effect me in the way they used to.

In a game where PvP is not the main orientation, it takes a special place to play the bad guys, you have to deal with constant abuse on a daily basis, but through that i get to live it out through all the people wanting to be the good guy because of what we do. Through that, i've made tons of friends in ToC, AA, 13th, BBfA, CTRL. I've flown with the best that this game has to offer, talk with many individuals, and meet many great people.

I dont think anything like this would have happened if i didnt decide to cause some trouble every now and again, i played the good guy and we didn't do much cause there wasnt much to fight. Now people are brought together for a common enemy, and i get to do what i like, battle in a spaceship game.
