In fact, there's already an available profile on the forum for the Warthog (Stick & Throttle).
Maybe you can use it, or as I've done, adapt it to your needs.

Nickola

[Edit]

The main advantage on using the Thrustmaster's software is that it can virtualize all your TM Device (Warthog / T16000M / etc etc ) into 1 single joystick, which is useful for some Simulators that do not recognize more than one joystick.

Thanks for that, I hadn't realized that it combines them, I had already downloaded the profile but I didn't know how it worked with this setup. Still though, a bloody near incomprehensible software setup, Thrustmaster are almost negligent when it comes to support too. I'll persevere and see how much hair I lose. If anyone could break down a few tips I'd appreciate it. Thanks again ;)

Hi there,
My project for this next 6 month: change my old (and very good) Saitek x45. My first request is to have a rudder control on the throttle (like x45 or Flight X) because i do not want rudders pedals.
Any ideas?
thx and fly safe!

Why are you replacing the X45? It is a great piece of kit with plenty of buttons and switches.

Thank you for your answer Cataclysm274!
I agree with you, it's a great HOTAS.
First, i've one or two intermittent electronics problems (i suppose): main trigger locks or hat partially not available.
And always this problem of drivers (it uses Windows drivers by default under W8.1 x64) and some butttons are not mapped correctly for ED.

One more reason why i'm happy with my DIY hotas. A friend of mine has a Warthog stick and throttle, but for me they are too bulky (like the x45 i have).

Thrustmaster have recently announced that they will be releasing a stand alone throttle in September. It's got three hats, several buttons and other axis and a rudder paddle. No price announced but under $100.

Too bulky? Not bulky to me but the stick is too large for my hand. if my hand is in the base, my fingers can't reach all buttons on the top.
So, a hotas DIY is a great idea but not for me, i'm not realy handyman. But your work is great and i think this is a good way! :)

Perhaps bulky wasn't the proper word. I meant that i think the base casing for throttle and stick are too big to sit on top of a desk, so you are with your raised arms most of the time. Plus the fact that the grip was too large for me as well, even though i am rather tall (1m87).

Thanks for the compliments, much appreciated

I can recommend the Thrustmaster T-flight X hotas, if anyone's looking for a cheaper hotas.

I've had mine 3 years with no issues to report, the build quality is excellent, the controls still very smooth, and there's no extra software needed.

A few more hats would have been welcome, but it's pretty much spot on for for ED once you realise that you can define one of the buttons as 'shift' thereby doubling the uses of all the others.

Or define 2 (or however many you want) as shift keys.

Ive been using a modified version of the Crab setup for a while now and love it.

I keep toying with the idea of a Warthog, and Im sure I wouldnt regret it, but the relearn factor after being so in tune with the T-Flight X HOTAS setup and ergonomics keeps putting me off.

The Thrustmaster T-Flight x is a brilliant hotas for the price, i used one for quite some time in ED, but the lack of hat switches eventually got to me and so i bought the x52, and luckily i have had no problems with it, and now i am used to it, i think it is the better stick for ED out of the 2, but i still keep the T-Fight for a backup, just in case. And if needed, i would be able to go back to using it for a while if nessacary.

For you who didn't see the news, Thrustmaster has a new licensing deal with Frontier. In September Thrustmaster will release the T.16000M FCS HOTAS . Below is a link with some more information. The throttle is new, and the stick is a slightly updated T.16000M.

They've missed the binding for eject all cargo.

I think this HOTAS might be the better alternative to the X52, but I wish they had been a little smarter. The new throttle is nice, but keeping the buttons on the base of the stick is bad thinking. Hard to reach without a third hand or without taking a hand of the stick or the throttle. I have the CH set anway, so that doesn't matter much to me. I know people though who think about purchasing the new Thrustmaster HOTAS.

Saitek got it right wit x52 Pro. But apparently quality is lacking.
I am 2700 hours in and still ok, even modded thrust with 3 buttons + 3 more coming. Not enough room in flystick.
As long as it works I am very happy.

Cheers Cmdrs

I use the Thrustmaster T.Flight Hotas X it works well enough, but isn't really accurate enough for full fixed weapon combat, but for the price it's great. If I were a richer man I'd probably go with an X52 or the warthog.

On this news, they are speaking of 130€ which is somewhat more expensive than 100 USD.
Let's just hope they won't build it on the cheap.

Anyway, being equiped with Warthog and MFG Crosswind, I see no reason to change...
no reason at all ^_^

My X52 Pro and pedals arrived today - woo!

I am fairly impressed with the hardware, it's solid and seems well made.

Unfortunately it doesn't click, and the old trick of holding the base and waggling the joystick has got me absolutely nowhere in Daley Thompsons Decathlon :(

Where am I going wrong?

Anyway - it's all nice and shiny, but I don't have a clue on how to use any of it lol. Going to practice for a bit and see what I can program. I definitely want an option to switch to purple mode, uncage the safety trigger thing, press it, and dump 20 tons of Slave Dung :)

i literally bought a smooth plastic shelf, that sits on my lap, with my x52 pro suction cupped to it. Works like a charm...
