about to lose 68 hours of gameplay

So because of hopeless ppl FD should change there game to Hello Elite Kitty: Cuterous?

"Hopeless people", however, probably make most of the player base: the people who pay for the game.

There are going to be a bunch of people who invest a lot of time, practice a great deal, and are really good, and really make the community. Many of them will be on these forums, obviously. For instance, that's how it is in World of Tanks - the game is full of weak players, and opinions on a forum where the good players are heavily over-represented is often unrepresentative.

I'm not particularly good or bad, I can handle a roughly equivalent AI ship in the new update most of the time. I've played lots, and I have a Dangerous combat rank through sheer grind rather than great skill. But whilst I like a challenge, I don't want every ship I meet to be a death machine. I don't want a massive series of life-or-death, white-knuckle fights. I'm worried about taking weaker ships out in case I jumped by something huge that I can't fight and can't run away from.

Now consider that huge swathes of the player base are even worse players, more casual or less interested in fighting than me. Many are gently bumbling around mining, trading, exploring. They also pay to keep the game afloat. Making fun of them ("Hello Elite Kitty"), or as other forum users have telling them to get better, start a new account... (who the hell thinks 95% of the population who has put in hundreds of hours play to grind an advanced ship wants to start again from scratch???) these are not answers. Never mind most of them will never log onto these forums to see that advice.

Broadly, I think the AI upgrade is good as it was not sufficiently challenging before. But I also think it's potentially going to put a huge number of players off the game without some mechanism to also make a lot of opponents less tough.

Again, your solution to "problem in game" was "Easy. Quit the game".

How pedantic.
Do you actually have anything useful to add?
You know, I actually take time to help and explain and you... blablablablabla post after post.
Does that help the OP?
Does that help anyone?

The problem is that the changes are a big swing one way or the other. They are also general across inhabited space. If they were targeted to high risk systems as people have asked for, you then would have an option of sticking to low risk high police systems or high risk, I guess that's is currently in the too difficult box to tick for The FD?
I have died once in a long range Asp since the engineers so switched to my FDL and have found a great loadout that I call the domestos loadout.
I haven't got to the engineers yet, the thought of taking each of my ships to get the upgrades isn't going to happen soon.
The summer may arrive in the UK soon so less time for me playing games, hopefully in that time we get something that works for the majority.

I love strawmen.

Nice Strawman.
It's not a strawman.

It's what makes the difference between a proper multiplayer online game here where we all experience the story simultaneously and a single player game where you take it at your own pace - hell put it down for six months and come back - it'll be just as you left it. Or stick it on easy mode finish it over a week and get fired from work - that's not an option here.

We are all playing the game and it unfolds at a certain pace. Without online connection to keep everything synced there's NO WAY the single player game can possibly stay synced - not without castrating the live game with it's potential to shift and change.

It has to be an entirely different game.

So what? I mean why the hell it is somehow connected with game?
If he lost everything becauce of known bugs - open ticket in support service and they'll return you Credits.
If he lost everything becauce, you know, he wasn't well prepared (equipment and skill) for places he visited - it's only his own problem. Game has all options for casuals: Low RES, Low CZ, Nav Beacon and Threat 0-2 USS; different Difficult Levels of Missions with RED COLORED descriptions about threats and dangers you may be faced. What do you need moar? Don't make this game in Hello Elite Kitty: Cuterous!

The problem is that ppl who can't handle risks, want to get rewards suposed for ones who can. That's why they try to do stuff they can't and after that cry on forum.

PS So disgusting when mature man cries on forum about ingame losses [sour]

You do know I wasn't talking to you? :D

Perhaps you have no empathy whatsoever, perhaps you feel the need to lord it over less skilled players, perhaps you were just born rude- I have absolutely no idea and tbh I really don't care. I'd like to think you have some manners in real life, but I accept that isn't a given.

This comment is directed at you. No-one asked you to slag off the op, but if you really insist, at least try to do it in a constructive manner. Point out where he went wrong. Here's a big clue- he doesn't go to REZs and avoids combat. Leave out the 'git gud at pew pew' and 'you ppl are the worst' commentary- it's pointless, he doesn't want or need advice on combat. Try applying your extensive game knowledge to advice that might just keep him alive- see the advice already given on winning/avoiding interdictions for some pointers.

Not just for the OP, but for all those casual players who're struggling right now. They're helping pay for the game you and I enjoy so much. Let's keep them here, eh? More paying customers means more development. More pew pew opportunities, crafting, looting, access to more planets, a ton of stuff we haven't even heard of yet. Good stuff that we won't get if the next season tanks because all our casual players went on to play other games.

That way you'll come across as a much nicer person, the OP might just learn something and we all win.

Have a lovely evening! ;)

4 - Never, ever, EVER use the "70% at 7" method to slow down at your destination. Not only do you add minutes to your braking time, but you make it very easy to interdict you. Perform a mass shadow braking maneuver instead.

How does a 'mass shadow braking maneuver' work? Flying close to planets just puts up an alert saying 'you're going too fast', it never seemed to slow me down any faster. In particular, I'd still whip uncontrollably past the destination if I didn't use the 6-second rule.

(interdictions aside, a faster method of getting to a station would be really nice)

I've got the PDF as well, but the coffee stained one has a "Pirate Treasure Map" feel to it.
Less likely to be correct and current. More likely to lead to adventures.
I should take another pic of it now.

My 8 year old son was using it to get his Cobra combat-rated, and so now it's got a Skull and Crossbones and "The Code" written at Orrere; and a caution tirangle at Altair with FEDS!
He was Rares Running in Open during "The Defense of The Alliance - Cycle 46" when The Alliance was in turmoil after the Fed merit snipe attack.

We're pretty oriented towards sociability with survivability at our home. We fly in open mostly.
And when we don't we have to say: "I solemnly promise that I am up to no good." Like the Weasleys in Potter books.

We were in Altair and there was this kinda panniked chirping "Hollow Squares Dad! Hollow squares" - "If it's blue that's me, ya drongo."

He docks pretty well.
But I've yet to see him in a fight.

After 13 pages, everything that can be said have been said obviously. There's only one thing I have a gripe with and I couldn't stop myself from doing this:

The Cobra mkIII is THE fastest ship in the game PERIOD! It's not one of the fastest, it's the fastest.

The only way it can be slower is if you fit it specifically to be slower, or someone can have engineer upgrades and you don't.

Whatever happens, we can't talk about it in relative terms of arbitrary fitting or upgrade combinations. In vanilla, cobra mkiii is the fastest ship in the game. If something can be made faster than a vanilla cobra through upgrades, cobra can be made faster with the same upgrades.

But I only really quoted Oogie Boogie to say that that sir is perhaps the best forum avatar I've ever seen. I hope that one day you'll have the chance to add it as a decal on your ships. :)

Thank you! And you are absolutely right - to customize your ship with an avatar or similar thing would be just amazing!!

Sorry, but I denie to be a hostage to such situation.
Let's say there will be a group of ppl, who start to complain that they need Giant Mechs in space with energy swords, laser eyes and japan school girl inside. I bet most part of comunity will be like "#$%&?! Go away!". Will you defend them on forum because this ppl pour money in game?

Wow, usually i have to go to 4chan to find logic like that. Impressive.

Well, he has a point.

Well, yes, its a great argument against something the guy he was talking to didnt say.

Also, an unsurprising lack of self awareness, in that; his "argument" could be turned around on himself easily. Like this : "hey, you are holding the casuals hostage with your silly demands of hardcore. Should they have to put up with your hardcore nonsense just because you put money into the game?" See? Its nonsense.

Hence 4chan-tier logic.

Back to the useful stuff. :p
Pretty much like this:

cSY0Nib.jpg

You aim for the gap between the station and the planet. The blue lines you see when approaching a planet are the "gravitationell wells" and their intensity.
You try to get in that place between station and planet as fast as possible, without overshooting. That does take a bit of practice, but if you've done it a few times, it becomes second nature.
Is very handy for "speedruns" (did most of my T-9 trading like that) and will also get you to the entrance side of the station (which usually points roughtly at the planet), so you save even more time manouvering around stations (or looking for the fricking entrance in the case of Coriolis).

Here's also a nice video with approach strategies:

And one how to avoid interdictions (from 2014 so ... uhm .. not new news):

sry, m8, I'm not playing here forum wars. So I don't shoot arguments to attack or defence. If FD decides to push this game in casualville, I'll quite. And I wouldn't cry or drama about it. Devs should create there own worlds, worlds where they would like to live, not amusement park for customer satisfaction. And gamers, if they like dev vision, will stay in there worlds.

:S What? I mean seriously, what on Earth are you going on about? The OP didn't ask for anything to be added to the game. All he asked for was an option to turn down the AIs difficulty. The same difficulty that was cranked up in response to countless threads and suggestions asking for it to be increased. It seems like a very reasonable request to me. His game was drastically changed to accommodate other peoples wishes, it's entirely fair and sensible to ask for it to be changed back to accommodate his.

There's no real need for hentai robots in ED just yet, although who knows what the Ten Year Plan will bring?

Well, he has a point.

Not really, see above. I don't think the AI will be turned back down, FD will most probably restrict their access to engineered weapons and call it job done. Advice to the OP on how to avoid combat- either at the interdiction stage, or by avoiding riskier areas- might keep one of our fellow players interested enough to stay with us. Calling him childish names and building ridiculous Aunt Sallys will only drive him away. If you accept that there are a number of people in similar circumstances then you should be able to see why I'm keen to try and help the OP. I'm not being nice, it's actually rather selfish of me to try and make him carry on playing 'my' game when he's clearly not enjoying himself. But if I can encourage him and like minded people to find their mojo they'll hopefully start enjoying themselves again and there's a few more potential customers for next year's season pass.

Don't sell yourself short, old boy. If you flame someone, you absolutely are playing forum wars. But it's better to do it with willing opponents- sods like me who enjoy a bit of a scuffle- than just stomping on someone less inclined to scrap.

From Zac's post:

Good news Commanders,

Due to the recent surge of unsanctioned and illegally modified weapons from the NPC AI over the recent days. The Pilots Federation have agreed to reimburse all insurance payouts made over that period (Between The Engineers (2.1) update and this mornings update).

The Pilots Federation would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your patience and continued support.

Fly safe.

(We'll let you know once this update has gone live)
