When you have cultist acting fanboy people then you have the oppsite too. Blind cultist hating people. It is very fun to watch how the one side tries to play out the other without noticing that they allready both became what they basicly fear. I dont see any difference between both sides anymore. Most funny part is that they really belive they could persuade the other side :D So they keep fighting and pushing each other more and more without noticing how childish they act. A good evidance that you deal hear with the blind hate cultist is that you can see how they jump on every tiny detail cig give out to spread fear and hate. And when you say something against that they try to put you in one of these steroetyp groups and say that their side is the best side and you belong to an evil corperation/cult whatever.

I have to agree with this. It's all very amusing to watch.
I love the anti-DS guys bemoaning DS, his stalking of CIG employees and his continued attacks on CR/CIG while they sit in their subreddit raging about DS, stalking him to remain up to date and then making continued attacks against him on various message boards.
The disconnect is real.

7 successful Early Access games that all developers should study
(spoiler: Star Citizen isn't in the list.)

"Besiege shows very clearly something that I think is crucial to Early Access development," says Felipe Falanghe, "and that is drastically different from the traditional lifecycle of a game project: polish. A game may be incomplete, but its user experience needs to be well-rounded from the earliest stages. When Besiege first launched it was visibly very incomplete, but it already had a very polished UI."

"It is of course a perfectly acceptable thing to have placeholder assets like models and graphics, but developers need to keep in mind that players will already be interacting with these incomplete elements, and that needs to be a positive experience from the outset," he adds. "Early Access games should never rely on 'potential' as a tether to their playerbase. I think a key factor for an Early Access game to survive is that it needs to be fun from the beginning. Players won't be waiting around for a project to 'become fun' as it develops further."
As the old saying goes, "don't hold onto a mistake just because you spent a long time making it". Sometimes certain features just don't work out.
They've been known to run an idea by Early Access players while making it clear that any potential content may never make it into the game. Managing expectations is part of the process. That includes having a firm grasp on creative direction even as you maintain fluidity and adapt to user needs.

I don't know about the rest of you guys, but I'm starting to think that maybe Star Citizen might not follow through on all of its promises.

Where did you get that impression? man its on track, development just started, give it time, it will be awesome fantastic.

I already see my health insurance coverage increasing because some people need a heart surgery by all these negative feelings they built up on themself^^. But if people want to spend their entire day with that stuff i wish you them a lot of fun with that. Iam now going enjoying the good weather outside.

However, this has been building up for years, and the loyalists in the SC community made it that way. You can't discuss in a reasonable way, because everything CIG/CR does is wonderful.
What do you take us for? the disaster is right in front of you, at least be honest about it.

It is a logical fallacy to state that by taking an opposing point of view, you automatically take on the unpleasant characteristics of that which you oppose.

There are $115M good reasons why framing it in that way does not work, for a starter!

Wow, this thread seems more and more like an anti CIG circle jerk.. saddens me really, especially since dsmart got involved here. For an internet "warlord" with succesfull games you'd think he has more to do. Long time lurker here but not sure how much I'll stick around, too much hate.

Ps. I enjoy E:D in VR too but I'd like both games to succeed.

I think the old adage of "If you didn't laugh, you'd cry" is perfectly apt for what's going on here. Despite all the money, all the chest-beating, all the time and all the promises what we have is quite a janky mess. It's sad but it's also true.

Besides, I think almost everyone here would like both games to succeed, they just don't like the way a particular game is going about it.

Welcome to the thread. Stick around, you look like you have a lot to contribute to the discussion.

We all do, and for SC to have success they (CIG) need to stop 'ing around and start to face the music.

I would, actually. I'm not a white knight and enjoy criticism where it's due (hell I'm not that invested in SC) but it's still showing promise at certain things - yes, they borked a hell of alot of other things, including broken promises and those frankly      me off - and i'd much like it to become a decent game. Meanwhile, I play Elite to keep me entertained. But honestly, the last 30-40 pages have been nothing but impeding doom and jokes. If you want a decent discussion about things, i'm happy to oblige.

duly noted, but we like a good trolling, you're welcome to join even if its on the dark side XD

Do you think the SC Booth at Gamescom will show anything "new"? Do you think they will have any kind of product which can stand robustly against the kind of single player campaign that COD:IW appears to be offering?

What are your thoughts on a 2017 release date for SC MVP? If you backed SC in 2012, are you content that the game development appears to be getting further away from a release and not closer to it?

Do you like the flight model? What are your thoughts on the deal with Saitek for the SC-branded controller?

What are your opinions on refunds and the 2.4 ToS revision? Do you think any money given to CiG was a donation, or does it fall under pre-order and therefore refunds are fair and reasonable?

Lots to talk about without getting sidetracked by a few video blooper reels or name-checking people who have started posting here recently :)

Thanks for these questions. Gamescom booth to show anything new? Probably some planetary landing and more FPS footage, perhaps work for a next system + some flyable ships.

Product to stand robustly against COD:IW? They're 2 different type of games. COD = mostly FPS and their target audience likes FPS. The ship/dogfighting you see in the trailer will most likely be kept at a minimum of gametime and the game seems - like most COD games - on rails.

That's not always bad, I like myself a good no brainer shooter like COD (or BF) and the single player campaigns always keep me entertained for quite a few hours. But to compare those 2? All they have in common is an FPS bit and the space-theme. but since word about SQ42 is kept so low-key, I'm not sure what to expect and am less hyped about that bit right now.

2017 MP? Only if they fix the netcode and get decent LOD networking in. Right now it doesn't matter what kind of hardware you have and based on server you're lucky to hit a solid/steady 20 fps. They however acknowledge this and are working on it. No clue if they'll make 2017 but atleast careers, jobs, ships etc should be fleshed out by then.

Am I content about the current state of affairs? Yes, and no. I want SC to be good, I really do. A half- space game that's been in development for 5+ years is nothing I look forward to. A proper one that is in development for 7 years is long, but better than any rushed attempt if they're trying to do it now. The dream that Chris pitches is unreal and probably unrealistic at that, but if they deliver 20-50% of that and it works, hell yea I want that!

Do you like the flight model? What are your thoughts on the deal with Saitek for the SC-branded controller?

Flight model isn't that bad (read it's getting better than it used to be but) but the gimbals / fixed for mouse + keyboard is an absolute disaster. There is no real incentive to play with a HOTAS or HOSAS right now because you just get outaimed by people with a mouse. It's something I hate and hence I joined parity that wants to fix this.

I own a X55, which I like. But i'm well aware about the quality issues of mad-catz / saitek. I think it's a fine go-to stick if they keep the price at decent levels. Would I have loved thrustmaster more? Hell yes.

What are your opinions on refunds and the 2.4 ToS revision? Do you think any money given to CiG was a donation, or does it fall under pre-order and therefore refunds are fair and reasonable?

With mindless rambling and scaremongering by people who have a podium, it's quite normal to revision the TOS to stop getting hit by lawsuits. I wish they didn't, since it does send a bit of a mixed message, but I can understand it from another point of view. Do I see my money as a donation? Hell no, I want a product. If they go bankrupt, I'll definately try to get it back.

But right now I'm fine with them having my money, and I backed because I believe. I bought ships because I want this to succeed and the entertainment it's already giving me is more than most games I pay 50 bucks for and never play again.

There just isn't much else to discuss. The last couple of concrete "news" to come out of CIG was plagiarism, customer support labels, Terms of Service changes and a new 2.4 build that has clothing in it.

If 2.4 had some bigger addition to the space ship flight game part, we could at least be talking about that. Instead, we got clothes that we aren't even supposed to be able to use when we go out to our ships.

True that..I guess I pretty much agree with your signature there..

It is a strawman to imply that Clawhammer said that.

"When you have cultist acting fanboy people then you have the oppsite too. Blind cultist hating people. It is very fun to watch how the one side tries to play out the other without noticing that they allready both became what they basicly fear."

You were saying, dear?
