My point with all of these Pleiades (Merope into them) stuff:

The pleiades seems to have been an important astrology point for us, something that helped us, a reference point, so, could have been a reference point of somekind for aliens?

We don´t know it. Please stay on the facts.

We know it is about 6 mins long. We don't know that it contains anything useful, hence the quotes. ;-)

Edit: from patch notes: '- Reduced the timing interval on the probe to bring the total transmission down to just over 6 mins'

Isn't the probe's lifespan in total 6 minutes? I wonder why it was patch to be ''Just OVER 6 minutes'' if we still can't hear it all?

Something I noticed on my HUD awhile back...

Notice that there are two lines coming out of the star on my HUD much in the same way as the UP spectogram image?

Perhaps these are some sort of CME?

Voyager plate used pulsars. Maybe this is using something more local.

Maybe there's some sort of temporal variable that is timed with CMEs?

Lines are reflections from the grill behind hud

The Unknown Probe does decay in a little over 6 minutes, which makes it difficult to record everything, however nothing decays of planet surfaces. I am uploading a fresh 10mn recording on the surface of Merope 5 C as we speak. Patience :)

Ok... I think I might know what's going on here: Our little friend wants to be introduced into Geosync orbit above Merope 2C to either study Merope 5 or Merope itself...
Following a polar geosynchronous orbit would be the perfect way to keep either in sight all day long! But it requires a third party to bring it there. US.

Makes a lot of sense.

Ps. 357km hasn't been calculated yet. I'll do it after lunch. Just pinched it from the other post.

This might work. Lets try it out.

Maybe for that very reason? Maybe it was longer than its total life span and thus had to be reduced.

No, the most recent patch notes say it was Reduced to OVER 6 minutes (but not 7+ I guess). So we still can't hear it all.

Also, if nothing degrades on a planet surface, then we could already get ALL the recording right?

Well aren't you just perfect.:)

I missed this response initially. Thanks very much, I'm looking forward to it! Your work is appreciated :)

For the record I am currently in the bubble, running missions for Sirius Corp in order to move up through the engineer tiers. I desperately want access to Palin, not only for the anti-corrosive racks, but because I suspect he will be an interesting engineer if reverse-engineered alien tech ever becomes more prevalent ;)

*Tier 6 FSD upgrade: Thargoid Flavour* :D

Somebody reported finding one (two? I'm getting threadnaughtitis- the days are becoming lost in a sea of irrelevant posts & I'm losing all track of reality; wait, it's my birthday today! Ok, its just old age then...) in the last day or two. I posted to ask if anyone had editing rights to keep the front page up to date in Riz's absence. Got no response.

PM me te exact text you want on the FP and I will copy paste it.

Not sure they are encrypted as such, more that we dont understand the data format in the zlib streams very well yet (or at least not the mdl ones)

I used the word "encrypted" to let other people understand that they are not that easy to get ;) zlib and mdl are a bit more difficult to explain or understand...

That's amazing thanks. But are we sure that the UP audio recorded on the surface is the same as the 6 minutes in space? I mean, you can place your ship with UP very close to the scoop, and scoop it at 1/2%, risky but possible, I know you did it already ;)
But let's try with the 10 minutes first. Let's see what we find.

I hope some good soul will transcribe all the Hi low Purrs, already using the - for a LOW and a | for a HI. If I was not on holidays, I'd do it myself.
Then we'll be able to decode the Purrs using the drawing in the sonogram: THE KEY. ;)
Doesn't it seem perfect? :D

Now as for the arc in the upper left, well, that could just roughly represent the Pleides nebula (which dominates the sky throughout that quadrant, but admittedly, also stretches well into the upper right quadrant as well—a fact that is eased if you overlay the right-hand panel on the center and consider the right-hand panel's primary arc as somewhat an extension of the center panel's upper-left quadrant's arc... it's a stretch, I know).
I went there myself, and I think a more likely explanation is Barnard's Loop/Orion. It's distant, but close enough and prominent enough to serve as a marker (and Barnard's Loop is an arc). Everything else about the theory is sound. Currently searching along the vector but nothing interesting so far other than a couple POIs... and a massive crater with an interesting looking hill (78, -57.1), but I don't have any UAs/UPs or even have any interest in playing with them. I'm convinced this is the best lead though, and I've been following closely since the "map" was discovered.

Also worth noting, being tidally locked, the poles of Merope 5C always face the same galactic backdrop. The symbols could very much be these reference points, there's too many coincidences otherwise.
