The Star Citizen Thread v5

I still can't believe they refer to it as a "pledge" when it purchased through a store with sales tax added on.
Especially since in a legal sense, and in the context of a financial transaction, a “pledge” would if anything be the exact opposite: it's not the money that changes hand, but rather the property that is handed over as security for that loan. Since the backers are giving CIG/RSI/whatever money, one would expect the “pledge” to be some kind of property — maybe all those fake-artisanal tables and lamps — that CIG ships to the backers to ensure that the backers can get their money back at the end of the day, no matter what happens on CIG's end.

Also, if it were a pledge, it wouldn't be a refund but rather a repayment of debt (something they'd be expected to do some point or other anyway).

Wow, just when folks were wondering if CIG's recent tactic of tacking back the amount of info they released between PU iterations so as to reduce the amount of embarrassing gaffes they presented to the internet was actually working (unlike their "game"), and they manage to find a new and incredibly innovative way to throw themselves under a train, a bus and a cruise liner, all at the same time with this latest piece of self-ownage.

But ya know, whatevs. 3.0 is gonna save the day people!

So I can only go a few posts into that Reddit thread, before I want to start punching people, for that poor player who lost their account just for wanting some of his money back but only two replies in and someone says "thank the scum for closing that avenue" - referring to partial refunds because apparently that is someone else's fault they aren't doing partial refunds - and then someone comes up with this gem : "Their CS is typically a model of what the rest of the industry should try and be."

Yeah, no - no one in ANY industry should model anything after CIG/RSI. Sweet baby jebus these people, they have had lobotomies!

And then THIS happened today...

Yep, Squadron 42 is going to squash this insignificant (HAH!), unpopular, clearly inferior, dated and totally outmatched little speck of a title under it's fidelity-infused boot when it (eventually) comes out!

Cue another year's worth of refactoring as Roberts scrambles to "be inspired by" everything IW does better than S42. And another after Mass Effect releases.
It would have been beautiful if IW had released in the middle of CitizenCon.

I was just reading the reddit thread as well, talk about vicious! Somehow it's SA/DS's fault they can't handle customer service like a normal company? But... I thought they were totally unaffected by the goonery?

I guess it's a convenient excuse for following their policies in a completely arbitrary manner.

No no no FuriousCatte, for a lobotomy to happen, it would require those commenters on the Reddit to have something there to begin with so that it could be removed from the cranium. Sorry to point out the mistake in your otherwise spot on analysis of the situation fellow catte-person. ^__^

On a more serious note, yes, those guys are *totally* impartial observers of all things Star Citizen and never react unfavourably to any slight critique of either the game or the people creating the game. (Stares at some of the posts on the previous pages taking potshots at this sub-forum for it's "hateful" attitude to SC, whilst hold up the Reddit SC page as a paragon of virtue.)

Oh my...what a company... LOL

Someone Mind telling me just on which Page and Place this exchange happened ?
CIG does not have any Function like this. And to begin with Refund Request have to be Done via Email
The RSI Support Tickets look way Different as well.

So anyone got an Idea on what Platform that Exchange was done ?
Thanks in Advance :)

That reddit thread and their protective behavior towards SC...i dont even...first they said they understand him and will do as he wishes...just to kick him out entirely. Thats NOT customer support at all.

I can understand their policy about it, refunds cost you money not only the money you lose from the customer but also the fee you have to pay for transaction. But this is just sad.

And the pleading? Really? When do the "FAKE!" sayers arrive?

Again with the guilt inducing stuff of "By requesting a refund, you are potentially delaying the games progress"" What the hell!

It's real.

The exchange happened.

Deal with it.

Maruun, just look at the post above yours for the inevitable answer.

nonononono its just 4 years old.
Yeah, but you know how one CIG-dollar is worth four regular-developer-dollars? It's kind of the same here, but with years.

It's real.

The exchange happened.

Deal with it.
Do you really expect him to read what's in the picture before commenting on it? You know, acknowledge facts presented? Oh sweet summer child…

"NPCs are still in the future, but definitely something on our minds"
- Ben Lesnick, Developer

Words actually said by the Master Of Ships himself on Batgirl's latest interview segment.

So, that "totally awesome and realistic" NPC from the Gamescom demo... Where does that leave him and all the NPC's? I thought those were on the cusp of arriving with 3.0, but judging by someone who (allegedly) has a hand in the production of the game (more accurately, spends most of his "working" day trying to track down whatever media of old Chris Roberts projects he can find to restore to high fidelity quality), it seems as though the NPC's that would be roaming around the likes of Kareah, GrimHEX and whatever that hunk of low rez rock was in the demo, will be still some ways off from being seen yet.

Hmm, I guess that's ok though.... don't want to rush "perfection" after all.

Oh, and get a Ref- I mean an Idris!
