Yeah, i've just watched that, and some other videos in the COD threat. They certainly don't seem to have 6DOF, and i was a lot point&boost. I still expect SQ42 to "feel" more spacey, at least with some drag and inertia. But then again, Infinite Ward are probably much more experienced at making a game that's fun with a controller (COD is a couch game for me, sitting at the desk its much harder to disable the brain... ;)).

I am, however, really curious how the SQ42 trailer will compare with this COD trailer. This is, after all, CIG's specialty.

Wow, that looks great! Looks like someone has made Star Citizen already!

Well, to be fair to CIG (not a likely thing to come from my typing fingertips!), the comparison should really be made with Squadron 42. In that respect though, you would still be largely correct... Activision and Infinity Ward have effectively already "made" Squadron 42, before CIG have even shown what the gameplay for it even looks like!

No these are entirely different games and SQ42 will be vastly superior because of this list of reasons I made up
 
It's scientifically proven* that people who haven't released games in 16 years or directed actors in 17 years are better at releasing games or directing actors than people who have been doing so to monstrous worldwide sales during the same period.

Well, it's certainly in line with customer service that would brand the backers who gave them free money with zero strings attached for 4 years as "special snowflakes."

I want a made-4-teevee movie about this game SO BAD.

This is one of the few times when I think I'd feel tremendous satisfaction if this project went down in flames

not really proud to admit it, and most of the time it's not like this, still though

I think an actual CiG person posted in that thread "whoops sorry our fault, I'll personally sort this out for you" to the annoyance of the foaming cult before they got the auto-de-fe properly underway.

I'd feel sympathy for employee's backers and everyone whose been caught in the crossfire, the cult and upper management deserve everything they get though.

I hope they all buy Idris's.

Thanks, genuinely. It calms me down a little to remember the developers themselves are working hard, unlike their abysmal leadership
 
So, unsurprisingly, the customer support letter is actually real - and their CS has shown themselves again to be absolutely abysmal.

How do you even function as a company when your CS is that bad?
I dont understand why the CS guy said they couldnt offer a partial refund on his account ... that makes no sense to me. Why on earth not? What's stopping them from refunding some items, but not others?

If that correspondence is true (and sadly it looks like it is) it reflects very poorly on CIG's attitude toward its customers... kind of like the "no refund" TOS did before this.
 
A while back SG stated that they had no real way of properly tracking particular assets to particular accounts. I think that could very well still be the case.

However, how on earth they can work like that is beyond me.

I think it's something that has evolved over the past couple of years - the elitist (in the proper sense of the word - not ED - you know what I mean) "If you don't think this is the BDSSE you can      off!" sort of attitude.

It was started by CR with the BDSSE mantra, and carried on by many (and I'm not saying all) of the backers.

This is what has lead to the accusation of being a cult.

At a guess he's working for a horrible company that treat employee's even worse than the backers, he slavishly obeyed orders knowing it was really stupid and counterproductive but safer than being seen to think for himself in a dysfunctional workplace.

We've seen the stuff they send out to customers, imagine how internal communications read. When the ironclad TOS buckled and the standard refund refusal procedure was changed it was probably worded along the lines of "Cast all doubters who ignore the begging letter into purgatory, no second chances for toxic dinks. Failure to comply will summon the wrath of the marketing director".
