Ah - nice one! I was alt-tabbing out before, that seemed to fix it, but it could also cause some graphical problems on return to the game.
I had to do that for Windows 8.
Have got the same mouse problem with the version on Syncromeshe's site, tried changing the exe but no luck so far.
I need to fire this up again and see if I can get it working - I kinda gave up when I couldn't get the icons displaying and then I tried again but couldn't get it to full screen properly.
Folks, I appear to have hit a bug in the second thargoid mission...
Every time I get to the thargoid shuttle I receive "clearance denied, all bays full".
I've tried numerous times, going back to previous saves but with no luck. Should also clarify that the previous saves i have gone back to have been BEFORE i jumped into the Polaris system.
Any ideas?
Don't recall having this problem in the original FFE...

FFE3D can be a bit buggy, it's worth it for the great graphic though
You could load the save game into JJFFE and see if it will allow you to complete the mission that way.

Its the one where the mouse has to be below the intended area. as I said I tried the exe fix, I wondered if it was because Syncromesh repackaged it.

One thing I always wondered, if your in a shiny new Thargoid warship. Why doesn't anyone notice a massive Thargoid ship docking at Barnards Star??
That's what I did, but nothing changed, I'll have to sulk in the corner now
If it not the visual themes then the screen setting, IIRC it only really likes 1024 something.

I had to set it to 1280x1024 otherwise I had lots of missing icons, and most of the in-game text had missing words, lines or complete paragraphs.

Most problems with the icons basically comes down to the screen setting and visual themes.
Although it not a catch all as some have reported that they still can't see the icons.
I've got FFE working fine, but the framerate is terrible - is there anything I can tweak in a config file to sort that out? Surely it should be running like silk on my specs? :S
