Its time for "LeSabres analogy corner" (Trademarked, do not Archer unless for fair use in space games):

It's like walking past an insane asylum to go to the shop, and all of a sudden the entire facility erupts with laughter as the residents pour scorn on us for being so crazy and misguided that we have to venture 'outside' to collect our groceries, while they can lounge in their soft comfortable rooms and have the porter slide their food under the door for them. :D

It's a mad world.

It is our job to stop the loonies taking over the asylum. The future of crowdfunding is at stake. [big grin]

madness said:
Together they band together as a true cult following shady individuals crusades and ideals and into a "wave" of negative and "hate" posting hoping to gain some momentum and get "relevance" only to be dwarfed by the reason of simple gamers. These are individuals that much prefer to see CIG/Star Citizen collapse for not being what they like/want instead of succeeding and being something they don't like/want.
Ben do you have that link about how folk oversimplify the "other" into a homogenous group?

Even with this madness blocked I still end up seeing this nonsense :( how often do we have to go over "we're not all derek smart and most of us want to see an SC game get released"?

I suspect this sort of stuff could really put off people from wanting to join the SC community if it's like this :/

You forgot Star Marine being received with rapturous praise by the gaming media and hailed as "tactical, just like ArmA." Oh wait, that didn't happen.

That actually shadows my experience with the 2.6 free weekend

Got a group together to play Star Marine, and after about an hour we were back playing Arma 3

Sadly there was nothing about Star Marine yet to capture our attention

Well... more or less the same amount some of us(the community) have to go over "we're not all cultist and most of us can see the good and bad in the project(without becoming extremist about it)". More or less.

I've just been watching "The Know"'s spot on the encounter, which ends with Gus Sorola - a long time SC fan - muttering that he's off to buy Elite. And of course, people will be throwing money at Bioware when ME:A lands. CIG really need to pull their thumbs out, stop mucking around with mo-cap and ship sales, and get some gameplay in there - because the rest of the industry is moving on and giving people other things to spend money on.

"Wow, a space sim developer actually came through on one of their promises...". Ouch, ouch, ouch. Haters everywhere man. As we all know it's totally normal to delay indefinitely. [haha]

Hah - fairish point, but I don't think there's all that much of that here. We know there are sane folk who back SC yet still question things - some of us are them.

I haven't fired up SC since 2.1, but I've decided that today is the day: I'm downloading 2.6. Time to see for myself all the progress - pray for me guys

Immediate thoughts while downloading:
Appears the patcher is still not patching - 20 gig download to look forward to - joy.
The speed limiter does not limit speed - tried to restrict to to 150kbps - still stayed steady on 2mbps.

Well recieved article on Star Citizen http://www.pixelemonade.com/gaming/pc/star-citizen-3-0-release-date/

You might find this helpful for limiting the patcher https://www.reddit.com/r/starcitizen/comments/50cgj9/launcher_config_tips/

I believe this may work for you; it has for me. It has seemed to me that the speed control doesn't take effect if the download is active.

Stop the download, then quit the installer. Restart it, choose your desired speed, then click on Update.

Of course it's going to take forever @ 150kps... it's much more pleasing to download @ 10-12mbps. Takes less than an hour. ;)

Pure shill garbage.
Plagiarized, too, according to some of the comments.

Edit.. OMG they delete negative comments. This HAS to be hosted by CIG forum folk!

I'm sorry, but my lulzbucket has overflowed....

What I liked was that he removed bits so that people on the subreddit were happy, talk about pandering to your audience.
Someone said he ought to correct the 1.7 million backers comment and all he said was that he's bear it in mind for next time. Who cares about integrity and details eh!?

It's so Orwellian it almost sounds like a parody. If I was Chris Roberts I'd politely request that he take it down.

My favourite bit is "...with the tantalising idea that in the not to distant future (no pun intended)...". The use of the incorrect homophone shows us that the pun was indeed intended.

You mean there were bits in there that were worse than what he left!? <boogle>

I started the download this morning, not being able to restrict wasn't a huge deal (just meant youtube was a little slower than normal). The max speed I managed to get is 2mbps - probably because of the awesome Australian internet. I've only 2 or so gigs left right now, and the patcher has slowed down to around 100 kbps by itself so this last bit is dragging on
