The "experience" here is that SC truly has it right when it comes to "space legs." Granted its still alpha, but there is real experience there. It was fun, fulfilling, and thrilling to experience and it will be quite interesting if/when 3.0 drops and we have the complete Stanton System. If the fidelity, which currently exists around Crusader and its moons, happens, it will be really worth the large sum of crowdfunding raised!

The thing is, you've described basically the only experience it's possible to have in the "game", and more or less the only experience it's been possible to have in the PU since it debuted in 2015. You walked around a bit. You EVA'd a bit. You flew around a bit. You walked around a bit more. Surprisingly you didn't seem to encounter that other staple of SC's awesome emergent gameplay experiences, the "stowaway". Although technically you stole a couple of ships. I take it they still can't be locked.

And then you dressed it up in flowery language which made it sound more epic than it really was. I mean, what was actually involved in bringing the Freelancer "under control"? Did you have to fight your way in and work against the inertial effects like riding a bucking bronco, fix damaged systems, hack the computers and then diagnose and correct thruster malfunctions? Or did you press <<use>> on the pilot's chair? That's one of the reasons people have asked to see it with their own eyes.

What amazes me is that there are people who think it is a decent thing to ask hundreds of dollars for video game graphics, and that there are people who think it is a good thing to pay that for it.

- preorders
- paintjobs
- vanity items

None of the above are things people are forced to purchase and they still do it.

No one is forced to pay more than the minimum and the base game with everything was at its lowest like 35 bucks.

All things available will be available in game.

I mean, just look at the kickstarter for Elite. 100 ish bucks to start in a cobra. Chrome paintjobs for 10 bucks.

Its no different than any other game preorder except they ARE more open with their development and suck with their calculations for patch dates.

I m not saying you are. As far as I am concerned you simply state your own opinion.

However if you expect anybody to believe your story then you should be ready to provide something substantial in return. Thats how this forum actually works contrary to RiS...people here are willing to back up their claims by hard evidence. If they dont then the rest of the community knows how to handle it. You act as if people demand proof of you. That is not the case BUT people are actually asking for it (not the same you see). You refuse to do so which is your right. No need to do so....just as was mentioned several times.....I probably will see your "story" as dreamcrafting until I see actual footage of comparable activities.

Its funny how you offer proof for money when all you would have to do is stream your experience and share it for free...something you already admitted to be capable of.

What you put in your sig isnt of any concern to me. Also you being an ED fan or not also is of no concern. What you actually SAY and dont show matters and will determine your status in the eye of others. You should realize that when what you offer as "fun game experience" differs drastically from actual evidence found everywhere.

The funny thing is that from your response and folks seeking "proof" of the experience, frankly my experience was not anything too far out of the ordinary in SC last night. Sure the Starfarer wreckage was unique (first time for me), but overall, nothing groundbreaking on the scale of say the first alien encounters in ED.

Here is one piece of proof for you all.

I also just banked a new 1080ti into the rig along with a recent 2017 mobo, CPU, and RAM update, in prep for VR. Took a few seconds to pop this photo moments ago. Thus, there is some hardware running here to execute SC at 4k DSR on a 21:9 widescreen (though I did not photograph that yet). In SC I average 60+ fps in Star Marine and Arena Cmdr. 40s in PU on max graphics settings. Perhaps I can photo the FPS counter next time I am up (I use reshade 3+ in SC with FPS counter enabled), oh yea and perhaps pull a twitch stream for you all to see. I normally do not do streaming, but perhaps next time when up in SC to provide "proof!" :)

Blue LED's do not prove a thing when it comes to quality gameplay in Star Citizen :D and it doesn't matter what hardware you have - someone else always has MOAR.

Some people here have truly monstrous machines - and Star Citizen still runs like a slug on sandpaper on them.

Bringing the Freelancer under control was this: It was slowly spinning in space. I had to EVA to the hatch, and match my EVA roll with the ship spin to open the hatch and get inside (via the "use" F key). Sure, simply click "F" but challenge was to match the roll to get aligned to click F. Once inside, I walked to the bridge where outside view of course showed spin. I sat in chair, brought power/controls online, and stabilized the ship with stick/strafe controls. once stable, I go back up, walked around, explored other compartments, then went back to the bridge to fly it to Olisar.

Ahh, but those blue LEDs are pretty at night...! :)

Agreed, anyone paying more than $45 is pretty crazy! Though I also did buy a Big Benny's t-shirt that is pretty cool, and I wear it out sometimes to see if someone will ping/comment/know what it is.... I also have similar for ED. So far, no hits on either shirt other than my nephew who is a SC fan and recognized the Big Benny's first time I wore it.

I really don't get it.

SC is simply another space game.

And thus far its in alpha, so yeah, there are a lot of bugs.

Yeah its late.

I just don't understand the hate.

I've played Star Citizen. I find it rather amazing that there is that much detail in a "JPEG spaceship". And that they fly, fight and land/take off. Apparently there is much more they will be able to do shortly too.

I have a Drake Herald. The level of detail is downright stunning. And I can fly it in game, right now. The level of detail in that one ship is far far beyond anything currently in Elite or Line of Defense. Sounds good too.

Yep, all I can do is pew-pew with it, but its still damn impressive this early in the design of the game.

Are people just upset that the game is late? No one forces people to spend money on the game, any more than Frontier is forcing me to buy paint jobs for my JPEG ships in Elite. So exactly what is the big deal?

Are people mad that some people want to spend 15000 on a video game? Is it jealousy? I'm not sure, but do you also hate on people because they put 100k downpayment to a future space flight 10 years before the flight is available or even before the system to get them into space is available? Or putting 25000 down on a car to be released in 3-4 years?

Looks like someone is using this forum to do nothing more than spread his conspiracies and bluster.

As for fun, there seem to be plenty of people having fun with Star Citizen. Heck some people even say Elite Dangerous isn't fun.

Thats why you cannot seem to find any videos matching your description? Because its so average that people dont care to stream it? :D

I dont see any...did you hide it? :D

Thats the thing: after five years, some of us are a bit tired of 'much more soon'. The original plan was that it would be released three years ago, full release, including full professions. They may have added 'scope', but we're not even remotely close to even a fraction of what was promised to be done years ago, and what we have is bugged beyond belief. Then they would release in 2015. Then 2016. then at least 3.0 in 2016. Now 3.0 maybe in 3.0, and we dont know anymore whats in it. And they threathen that they wont even finish it any more unless more money is given. Despite having three times what they claimed they'd need.

So no, its not 'jealousy', its irritation at being ripped off. Oh, noone is 'hating' on SC backers. Pity is the correct term. :)

Not in Star Citizen.

You are not reading the same threads I am, people seem to get downright violent when someone says they like or support Star Citizen.

Yep, the game is late. I totally get that.

But in my mind I would rather it be late than a mess like say NMS was.

I never saw anyone from CIG threaten that they won't finish it if they don't get more money. Not once.

And after reading Derek Smart claim that Chris Roberts said that 3.0 was coming in 2016, it doesn't say that at all, he clearly said that's the goal, but he isn't making any promises.

Do people have pity for those that spent $500+ on the Kickstarter for Elite Dangerous?

I've spent about $250 for both. And I think it was money spent well.

Shortly has been urm, I forget exactly, five or six years now?

lots of polygons does not mean detail :D What are any of them for? What happened to - for example, the screens and dials in the ship actually showing in-game technical aspects in real-time? The Freelancer cockpit for example? Oh thats right - they took it all out, replaced with colored blobs, removed colored blobs, installed generic blobs, forgot all about it :D

I don't think anyone is jealous. There are certainly people having fun with Star Citizen, and there are certainly people who don't enjoy Elite.

Play what you like, enjoy what you like, just don't pretend that X many years of development by CIG have given us anything more than what we really have.

Downright violent? Violent? Anyway, CR did say that they would need the sales of SQ42 to fund SC. Take that anyway you want. And its not like you get to chose between late or a mess. Right now its both, with zero evidence it will ever stop being a mess.

got any links where this violence is actually happening? Because most of the time when "violence against SC backers" is claimed I usually see others questioning their statements.....strangly this counts as "violent" when we have SC backers on record making death-threats.....so it comes down to your understanding of violence and hostility which the rest of the world doesnt necessarily operate with. If you see open hostility or threats in THIS thread feel free to report them for violating any of the forum rules. I assure you the mods will take care of any breaks....unlike RiS moderators which are biased as it gets.

In hindsight pretty much every statement given by the head honcho CR appears to be a guess rather then a promise. Doesnt change the fact that they dressed 2016 up to release 3.0 by the end of the year tied in with some hefty sjip sales. We dont need to "rewrite" history. Its all there for the taking. If you feel that how CR treats his backers is fair and justifies the expenture of 500+$ thats your right. Again, others might disagree.

Not sure why you start with Elite...this is about Star Citizen. I dont feel bad about spending money on goods I get in return. I have a problem with people trying to sell me stuff thats non-existant.

But in my mind I would rather it be late than a mess like say NMS was.

Some false dichotomy you've got there. Why not a third way, such as "be on time and not a mess" e.g. games from Harebrained?

Likewise, being late is not a guarantee the game will be good, e.g. Daikatana (whose development bears a whoooooole lot of similarities to Star Citizen's by the way, all the way down to dubious promotion of girlfriend/wife to a position it is not clear they're qualified for) or DNF.

Based on CIG's pretty terrible performance to date, it looks like the game will be both late and a mess.

We've probably all noticed a new pattern recently, unverified claims that star citizen contains "fun" and "works". When asked to provide sources these posters instead show pictures of their gaming rigs. This is an obvious and transparent attempt to plant the idea that that gaming satisfaction can only be achieved through spending more money, thus increasing the sale of jpegs.

Also.. NMS was late. Not as late as SC of course, but let's not pretend NMS was rushed out the door.

Have you actually seen the changes in the early releases til now? Seems like a whole lot of motion to me.

It does to me. I can get up and walk around a ship, inside and out. I can update the systems used for shields, weapons, engines ect, and in most of those cases its a physical change to the ship. It looks different, it does different things. Not really much different than building out your ship in Elite. Except with a bit more detail to it. Is the Freelancer done? Are any of the ships done? Nope, but if you read the developers forums, you would see that they are working on those systems and when complete will put them in game as they should be.

I play both. I like and enjoy both. Show me where I "pretended" that CIG has given us anything more than what we do have. I KNOW the game is late. But as I said, I'm willing to wait for it thus far because I see the process being made on it.

Can you verify that Exploration in Elite is fun? Because to me it is boring dull and utterly exhausting.

How do I "prove" I am having fun to anyone other than myself?

How can people provide sources that it is fun other than their own personal opinion?

Looking at the Star Citizen reddit shows that it seems plenty of people are having fun.

Thats too paranoid for me. But I doubt CIG minds people telling others they are actually "having fun, really, we mean it". Guess its getting ready for MVP. :p
