Oh I can't wait until the next major live stream event.

I hope we get more Vandulls, Dunewurmies, Sandpersons and console rewinds. Genuine Roberts waving hands at it's finest, MOAR jpeg ship sales and a brand new Just Do It type catchphrase. Even more picking out random people in the crowd and convincing them to say "I backed the right game" to camera, audio problems galore, delightful "skits" showing off studio camaraderie and of course, tearful appearances by all our favourite Actors and Developers.

Plus a special live broadcast of What's In Sandi's $7000 handbag - sure to please the crowd one more time!

There won't be any actual game footage of course, they had to curtail what they planned on showing because it wasn't quite up to the required quality - but they were only a few days away and hopefully it'll be ready to show in time for the 2020 broadcast.

I understand what you're saying about calling him a liar. But that's still making excuses for what was either a i) a lie ii) an attempt to defraud. Take your pick. There is NO way that this can be explained anyway as simply as you have. Delays are days, weeks, maybe a month or two.

Is every game developer - including yourself - also either lying or attempting to defraud, when their game/update is delayed by more than 2 months?

Or is only Chris Roberts a defrauding liar?

Looks broken to me.

Well yes me obviously, you know that already you quoted me.

I notice you left late out of your answer, three years and counting.

Its an ALPHA, of course things are broken. Hell even in fully released games there are rather nasty bugs. They exist. They break games... they get fixed. Isn't that the whole point of Alphas and Betas?

I see no question in your post.

Careful, when you say stuff like this you get reported for being "off topic". Just a heads up.

That reminds me, of course the 3.0 will be preceded by a glossy E3 demo, most of which won't make it into the live build due to last minute technical issues which will mean it has to be pushed back another 6-12 months despite Roberts claiming it was just a day or two from being ready.

Can we have a 3.0 June release sweepstake?

I'm going with fortnight delay, cringingly bad live stream, historical rewrite of what was promised to be delivered and how the whole game was supposed to be arcadey.

It certainly won't release on 29th, even minor bugfixing patches were released a day or two late. I'm 80% sure it will be delayed by at least 2 weeks, 30-40% chance it will be delayed by two months, with some features missing from the initial release.
My rationale for the pessimistic prediction: I've just checked the archive of a schedule report, earliest image at 18th of November states the 8th of December as a release date of 2.6.0, so there were three weeks between the announcement (I think, I'm not sure when was the schedule published). 2.6.0 was released at 23rd of December, so further three weeks, or double the original estimate. And that release wasn't half as complex as the 3.0 one.

Mind you, I was sure 3.0 was going to release in 2016, so I'm no Nostradamus.

It's not an alpha, it barely qualifies as a pre-alpha. Tech demo is the closest description, although janky delayed pay2win tech demo is closer.

I see no question in your post.

Whenever I type a question you'll spot a question mark at the end of the sentence, I include these to indicate that I have just asked a question.

A couple of months isn't a bad thing, three years is pushing credibility beyond breaking point though.

In any other walk of life I don't think it would be unreasonable to start asking some serious questions about what is going on at CIG.

No, they said they were TRYING to release it before the end of 2016. They never said it would.

So when a software developer's (or project manager, whatever title you wish to give Chris Roberts) product is delayed for over 3 years past the announced release date, their statements no longer have any credibility?

Would that be all their public statements, or just statements about the development cycle?

Oh come on thorn, that's very disingenuous. No one is upset that it's late (hell thats just par for the course). People are upset because there is no way on earth that he thought it could be ready within 3 months. Let's not forget that he too was a developer once. When you have a years worth of work in front of you (as they're finally admitting) and you say "yeah we're hoping to have it out within 3 months, <but no promises! *wink*,*stupid-grin*>" what is that but a lie?? Well, incompetence, sure that's an option. Gross incompetence that should send you running for the hills, ok I'd accept that as an alternative.

Im excited to see what comes out of this 3.0 release. So far every time I've tried SC it hasn't been fun. Maybe 3.0 will turn the tide and so for me personally I'm a bit excited about this sign of life, but I cannot blame anyone who feels lied to and deceived. Now that CIG has to admit their real status, it takes willfulness to ignore the lie.

Can I give you an estimate on a fully fitted, top of the range kitchen? I'm going to need some money up front though for the fancy worktops and units. I'll TRY and have it fitted for Christmas. [smile]

Now I didn't say which Christmas did I? Would you cut me the same slack as you do Roberts? If not why not?

I'd say it means you can't rely on the accuracy of any CIG announcements especially dates and getting a refund is probably sensible.

Two things: first, repeating that won't make it true, second: I'm talking about my prediction from this thread, made few months ago, not about CIG's claims.

Kindly show me where it was said 3.0 WILL release before the end of 2016, Because I can clearly show you where C.R. says they will TRY to do so but no promises...

Well, it just show they are completely incompetent and should do something else.
