THE FORMIDINE RIFT MYSTERY (Part 4)

Someone suggested Lave as an endpoint, so Salome could get the word out via the Radio station.

On a similar thought - anyone know where Radio Sidewinder is based for a second end-point?

Also perhaps Salome is coming back for a coffee - A final chase along the 1+ hour trip to Hutton? For the Mug!

Can you imagine Salome having to rely on the 2nd Tech and his wrench to the word out?

Still if they need us to get the word out, I'm sure we could help, it's just I can't see her being that desperate. ;)

Mind you she might like Alvin's waggy tail and Cubical 3's smell is getting that bad it will keep any pirate away. :p

I see that quite a few Rifters are not to pleased with how this event is turning out.

If you are not in to heavy Pew, hierarchical command structures and promises of swift destruction of free thinkers, you might consider going a a Honker:

Lots of Rifters have Salomè as friend. Use it for science. [yesnod]

The new book should be called Premonition - Beyond the rift and back again, the battle of the 5 armies.

I know, i just preferred the speculation and the 'hunt' back when everyone was out there.

Agreed, the sense that there was one last missing clue to decode and we could just tease it out we'd find something. My favorite personal theory was white dwarves. I noticed after spending a month or more just wandering in the void that there was a mysterious lack of white dwarf stars in the rift. The combination of '7 veils' and 'nebulous' hints from Drew fit since white dwarves are Type 7 stars and typically leave a planetary nebula. I spend around 2 months looking for one, even combed through some of the various system DBs.

Might still be a thing but in reality it's almost certainly the same issue as my and others failed Cas-A search, they're not there because they weren't in the catalogs FDEV used to populate the galaxy.

So we're left with unsolvable mysteries till a clue drops and the year long mystery is figured out in days. Not sure there's a solution or even a problem that needs a solution but the hunt was enjoyable.

Premonition, an end to a Honking good Mystery! :D

Then why your build includes:
Hardpoints:
2X Frag Cannon (M) (G) G5 Lightweight 1X Drag Munitions
1X Beam Laser (M) (G) G5 Lightweight 1X Regeneration Sequence

Seriously. For all explorers, rifters and whatever beings out there (who don't read the discord-channel):

The PAC has declared the region a Gun-Free-Zone. Anyone with guns will be considered a possible threat (as we all know, the story of the Galaxy is rich in betrayal, murder and assassinations). Yes, there are a few CMDRs at discord, who are maybe slightly exaggerating their pvp-skillz. But if you turn up in the area, carrying guns without being on the whitelist the following will happen:

scouts will spot you, and report you up the command chain as possible threat.

You will then be
a) chain-interdicted by the fast builds (read: you will be chasing the escape-vector for the whole event)
or
b) jumped by complete wing opening up with plasmas, rails, and whatnot. Think CG-gank, but in 'serious'. SO even If you rate your pvp-skillz as en-par with the skillset of the defenders ... It will be not enough too survive a 4vs1 engagement, right?
or
c) you will enjoy the possibilities a) and b)

Additionally, there will be no comms-activity during the whole process. You will not be able to explain yourself. The 'Thing' will be fast moving, and "Ain't nobody got time for that!" So seriously: If you do not plan to shoot at the VIPs, don't bring guns. Except if you are on a whitelist, or a well known white-hat - your chances are slim to ejoy the event.

Yes, I do know, the noises the pvp-crowd tends to make when boasting with their abilities are sometimes slightly irritating. But believe me: the no guns directive is probably the only way for slimming down the chances of some assailant/traitor/whatnot killing one of the VIPs from point-blank range. I don't have a better Idea, and I haven't heard of a better Idea.

TL;TR: If you want to attend the event as visitor, come UNARMED. At least the pro VIP-Side will very likely not open up on you. The opponents probably will, for blowing of steam due to their frustration. Bring Heat sinks, and some decent shields (if you pop a Heatsink when >2km out the attacker will likely lose target-lock, giving you time FSD-Out).

And to be extra clear: anything fitted in a hardpoint is considered a gun. So: no healing lasers, no mines, no missiles, no anything.

And spread the word along your friends: NO GUNS
Always remeber: Friends don't let their friends bring guns to the event!

Well that seems like a nice way to try and exclude lots of commanders that want to help.
Turn up - get scanned - get interdicted - get destroyed : no comms / no excuses. That = Griefing in my book - if I hadn't stumbled on your post I was going to take part and help defend Salomé.
Now it seems like a massive waste of time - given how bad ED's instancing and the limits on the number of players I doubt there will be many pure 'spectators' - unless of course you end up with only a few of you mythical 'white list' guys a bunch of unarmed spectators that wanted to help but weren't allowed and a lot of players that just want to collect on the bounties - I hope that happens now.

I keep seeing mention of a discord channel - but the thing I hate about discord is how so many channels exist but can't be found, unless someone decides to put a link some where. So I'm on 8 Elite related discord channels but none of them seem to be 'this' channel - it's a very closed off world for a supposedly community event.

No matter what happens to our 3 protagonists tomorrow, the information will still get out. Notice that Salomés two chief companions are not at risk tomorrow, and are conspicuously absent - where o where are Luko and Hassan?

Salomé is the decoy. She is making as much noise as possible, drawing all the attention to herself. Preparing to possibly sacrifice herself to clear the way for her two comrades to deliver the message.

Salomé acting as the "assistant" for the stage magician - distracting the audience by her good locks and waving around with her arms? Sounds so good that is should be right. Not really doing this, just "metaphorical" speaking.

That would be an interesting ending. Everybody runs around as far as possible from where the real "magic" happens.

Problem is, nobody will find the right place because space is so <strongword> big.

There should be a link to "THE discord" channel. Hope it helps.

Blame Drew - he was the one who spoiled everything by making us actually find stuff ;)

God damn Drew Wagar, you made a community come together like nothing i have seen before.. ever! You have given us a character that is marmite among the community, that have taken sides to
either kill the 'traitor'... or to protect her because she knows the deepest dark secrets.
You have given us a story that has taken the ED community by storm, an event were nearly everyone is participating, or watching along the sidelines.

Countless Greek myth speculation...

The hunt for clues in the deepest, most eerie places in the galaxy..

And a mega ship that mysteriously still has power after 30+ year's...

SHAME ON YOU!

Oh and well done :D

That does sound kinda fun. :) The ship rebuy is 470kCr, not even worth yelping about. That said, if FDev decides to slow things down a bit and drops a flower ship on us, all of you without guns will be sad puppies.

I'm thinking the defenders plan is all pivoting on the idea that the attackers are going to bring slow ships to kill a clipper and an iEagle...

What do the clipper and iEagle have in common? Oh, I know, they're fast! Who are these experienced pvp players who will be bringing slow ships to kill ones they can't even dream of catching? When they show up in their own clippers, couriers and ieagles and they're using long range mods specifically to hit runners... with the majority of defenders being gunless it'll just be a slaughter. Telling people to rely on speed as their only defense because you can't imagine the day a regular, ordinary player might do any damage to some self-proclaimed pvp god all while assuming your enemy is too stupid to not bring fast ships to a speed contest... I don't know about all that.

At this point the best thing to do is sit back and watch. It's devolved into something incredibly stupid.

You won't catch them either way. Refuel run will be done in seconds and then its high wake bye bye.

It's when they get to the bubble that things will get interesting.

Most forces on both sides will be around the edge of the bubble taking each other out if they are in the same instance.

I'm sure there will be lone pilots out there looking for fame on Salomes head, there are entire factions doing the same.

The event will bring plenty of people out in open which is good, the dynamics arnt there in game yet for it to be an all out war with Hundreds of Cmmndrs.

It will be smaller skirmishes and quite a social event so bring a bottle.

It is a bit of a bummer with discord that you can't search all channels. However, the 'allied' defence channel has an invite link in the official event thread here: https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php/347455-The-Premonition-End-Game-Event-29th-April-3303

Drew's Blog said:
Whatever happens people need to understand that nothing of this type or scale has been tried before (that we’re aware of) so there is no blueprint to work from.We don’t know how it’ll pan out – Regardless, not everyone will be happy. "

Possibly this is what Drew meant by "Premonition".

The reason you can't please all the people all the time is that there are some people who just can't be pleased.
