Agreed and repped op...should be an achievement getting through walls of text, but get through it I did. Thing is, I dont use this forum much anymore and just breeze through every other day in the hope, the ever decreasing hope that things might improve. From what I can see, its not flooding me with optimism but the time has long since passed where that realization is a surprise revelation to me...Ive felt like this fer some time. But yer valiant effort is worth a few minutes to type an answer...an entertaining read which I agree with.
Ive never understood why they never allowed clans and guilds and corporations...seems to me they shot themselves in the foot if they wanted a multiplayer game because true multiplayer games are made the success they are by clans and guilds and corporations. Its been this way in gaming since the days of quake and unreal tournament, though I understand frontier like to do things differently. I dont agree with frontier but its their game, their rules and their mistake to learn the hard way.
And thats why when I played, I did so as a wholly single player game from solo mode...I simply dont see the multiplayer aspect of this game as being worth the effort. Their choice of using P2P architecture doesnt exactly help matters either but as before...their game, their rules and their mistake to learn. By all means works fer some...but not fer me. Too many years playing eve perhaps and while Im done with that game years ago now, the one aspect I miss the most was belonging to something bigger than me. They had all the corps and guilds and fer 7 years, I role played the hell outta that game. Im also not an eve fanboi but I do know what worked and what doesnt work and frontiers individual approach to multiplayer is just laughable tbh.
As a single player game however, it stands head and shoulders above just about everything, despite some obvious flaws and inane design directions like the engineers and powerplay. And yet as a single player game, it is one the best Ive ever seen...kudos to frontier fer that if nothing else.
Thing is however that single player games have a short shelf life unless new content is added regularly, and thats where problems start to arise as we all know.
Anyway...my interest and enthusiasm are at an all time low nowadays. Haunting the forums fer that little snip of information that might entice me back...sadly nothing yet on that front. Not sure what they doing with their thargoid storyline, but whatever it is aint floating my boat one little bit...morbid curiosity more than interest now Im afraid.
Good luck trying to change attitudes and minds on this forum...without reading the replies, Im guessing the anti clan/guild players have made their presence felt. As inevitable as my morning movements on the white throne. Tragically, Im fairly certain I could guess their names too...its the same posters every single time.
Another battlefield another time op...Im all but done here ^
